It's amazing how so many people have been begging for any SU content for ages with Tamers on his pone arc, and they finally get it and still throw a tantrum that it wasn't good enough.
It's amazing how you don't actually read any of the complaints people have and jump to assumptions. No one was upset with the SU part of the episode. It's literally the best shit he's put out in a very long time, the issue is that it randomly jumps back to MLP for 40 minutes and has complete tonal whiplash. Literally no one complained about the SU part not being good enough, the complaint is that all the shit at the end should've just been a separate video.
imagine having 'fans' that don't want him to ever branch out and do what he wants.
Like the hundreds of Pony fags that'll drop his patreon the second he puts the show on a hiatus to do literally anything else besides horses?

It's great that Tamers loves SU and his 'tism keeps him drawing it because goddamn, imagine having 'fans' that don't want him to ever branch out and do what he wants.
I wouldn't even really mind Tamers branching out, I don't even mind if said content was subpar and not like his previous SU stuff. What bothers me personally is that it had to be My Little Pony of all things, attracting a fandom that would permanently alter the demographics of his viewerbase, therefore drastically changing the type of content he makes to appeal to his newfound fans. I watched first hand as Tamers' community went from a bunch of shitposters messing around to trannies looking to post their groomcords in the youtube stream chat.
Also I will say that I watched the SU bit of the last episode with the most retarded smile on my face lol.

I agree. He technically tried branching out before the ponies too with Zatch Bell.

It was a lesser plague, but Tamers certainly had faggots within his community even when he was focusing on Sonic Underground. Waifufagging (especially Florafags, who are the worst part of the SU community) started to become loud and annoying. Even this thread has seen people trying to offer him money in exchange for content, like he's some kind of clown they can rent.

To turn off the kayfabe a bit. It really was disheartening watching the decline of /co/ Tamers threads and the enshittification of /mlp/ Tamers threads. The /mlp/ threads always just seemed to be empty praises from shipfaggots who cheered not because it was a 'good story' or who critiqued an episode because it was boring- but whether or not their favorite ship was in the episode. If the stallions were in an episode one half the board would rejoice and the other would groan. If the lesbians had an episode, the roles would swap. The community around Tamers seemed to just splinter apart between the 'Haves' and the 'Have Nots'. The Haves got to roll around in new content dedicated to them and gloated about how they were 'just the better fan' because they ponied up cash and thought they could bribe an artist. The Have Nots meanwhile just kept trailing along, most of the Have Nots being driven away or feeling like the community and the artist they'd been loyal to was now pushing them away. It's honestly just sad looking over the previous year or so in this community. What used to be a mostly unified force split in half cause of some goddamn ponyshit.

Tfw Goku and Bartleby never crossed paths in that dog shit pony episode so we couldn't get a good dbz esque fight between someone who loves to fight stronger foes and the epitome of strong himself

would have loved to see the two fight like this...

Goku would probably be the toughest foe Bartleby’s ever faced. I can see this happening in the future considering we’ve got multiverses at play now.

Goku fighting Bartleby would likely attract Vegeta, either making it a 2v1 or a free-for-all between the three. If so, it'd perhaps be one of the best fight sequences made by Tamers if handled properly.

I have been a recent fan of tamers since mid 2024, but I was quickly invested in his decade plus of fanart and videos with the tamers archive instead of the newest pivot he had made to mlp.

My cope for now is that the mlp content following su's comeback in the latest movie was just the last two mlp episodes Tamers had in his backlog. I figured he stitched them onto the end of the latest su episode he worked on because he never wastes anything he makes. But after watching the newest video again, its clear to me that this wasn’t just backlogged material. Watching the knuxonia scenes again its obvious now that mlp became his outlet for more dynamic storytelling. And the problem is its just easier for him than SU. He hit a level of popularity that seemed to satisfy him, but now it feels like he’s moved on.

The turning point for me was realizing that tamers isn’t as mysterious as he once seemed. Kind of like the reveal in sdventures in the land of oz that uncle chuck is the wizard, it fucked me up seeing su again only to feel like tamers had become normal. All this time he built up this unique persona, whether on purpose or not, as someone completely obsessed with su. But now he’s just another edgy animator who likes anime. That shit is a dime a dozen. And i feel retarded for believing in the mystique for this long.

Anime used to be set dressing for the su narrative. Death note, yu gi oh, they felt like things tamers stumbled across or absorbed from the internet, and it was charming because they still served su. Even when he did shot-for-shot anime intros with bartleby and crew, it worked because the core joke was always that it had to revolve around sonic and bartleby. Anime was tamers' bitch that only mattered when it could power up su stories. But now with pony its front and center.

The gay stallions are taken seriously. The lesbian mares are taken seriously. There's reality-bending shit, and the visual presentation is more complex than anything he’s ever done with SU. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here thinking: why the fuck doesn’t sleet have chain motifs? If tamers wanted to do serious storytelling, there are tons of su characters he could've pulled in. Moe from episode 35 could’ve easily been involved in a love triangle with captain squeegee and the oracle of delphius. Luke periwinkle from episode 23 came off as a weak little bitch. He could’ve worked as a foil to uncle chuck, the sibs’ real uncle. And if Tamers wanted to bring in mlp, why not use gen 2? It has just as many fans of it as there are fans of su.

That brings me to the newer characters, Winx and powerpuff girls just felt off. None of the jokes landed. The characters lacked that early-stage design, like when he used traced mlp because he didn’t develop his own style yet. This new batch feels artificial, like he’s adding them because there’s audience overlap with his new mlp fandom. The very idea that he’d make a decision based on what fandoms intersect would’ve sounded crazy a year ago. But he broke that 10 yr gold streak of su focus by pushing out a straight year of mlp.

Looking back with that context, The Pool Episode hits different. That was the first one that hooked me, and now it reads like a red flag. Every sexy Bartley shot in that one was exaggerated to the point of parody compared to earlier episodes, and the sexy shots of him in the latest episode feel shoehorned. It doesn’t feel like Bartleby is the richest, sexiest man alive anymore. Now he's just Tamers’ bitch.

Rooney doodle is calling me on my nokia 5300 and I don't want to pick up. He says the sonic underground died a second timed... he says bartleby will not save it... i'm like, shut up bitch! I love sonic underground! Then he raped me in the ass and shit.

i can't help but wonder... ist this true?... is there some thing bartleby can'y do?...

Well said. The best word I've found for it is kayfabe, where it's entirely believable (not necessarily true) that this internet animator is obsessed with a failed Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. Everything this animator encounters, watches or does must pass through the filter of Sonic Underground. That kind of dedication, unexpectedness and level of "Is this guy serious?" is something I've never seen produced by any other internet artist, but it's believable, because I know obsessed and creative people like that truly exist. And it goes on for so long that if it was a chore or not fun, he'd have given up the act already. Maybe it's real.

Pro wrestling sucks when it's full of individuals who make it clear they know this is silly. Wrestling should not be populated with "stars" who are more interested in elbowing the audience in the ribs, going "Can you believe this shit? Aren't I silly?" When Tamers gently nudges his audience because he's clearly aware of the gimmick, it takes the fun out of it in the exact same way.

@Tengen News Editor I heavily disagree that MLP is easier for him to make. It has overarching storylines and “higher budget” animation. SU on the other hand has much more simple animation, simpler character dynamics, is a mundane slice-of-life comedy show first and foremost, and only has occasional lore that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

I really think it comes down to Tamers wanting to try something new after so long, where the community is bigger and embraces him much more obviously. I'm not sure what the response will be when bronies drop him abruptly because they decide he's old hat. They have done that many times with other creators.

Well, I do have an idea: a return to Sonic Underground. But my hope is Tamers doesn't become bitter when a fickle fanbase behaves in a fickle way.

The way tamers nailed the tone of bardonic didn’t happen by accident. it came from him obsessing over sonic and bartleby’s relationship for so long that it just became second nature to him.

It’s like how tolkien made all that lore for lotr that never even showed up in the books. Not because readers needed it, but because he needed to live in lotr long enough to know what the right parts were to show in it. Tamers has thought so much about bartleby slapping sonic’s ass that he just knows exactly when to put it in. He knows bartleby’s psychology enough that he doesn’t go for the easy jokes. Like in queen aleena gets fired on christmas, aleena calls athair, mark, and robotnik on sonia's phone but she never calls bartleby. Because the easy joke would be bartleby rejecting sonic’s mom and that’s too shallow.

Subverting it by having bartleby appear at the end is such a more nuanced approach that ties to how he talked about sonic to his parents in sonic meets bartleby's parents. He doesn't care that his boyfriend is poor, but he does care about fucking bitches mooching off of him. Sonic wants him for his everything, which has been given enough nuance and significance that of course his sugar daddy would give his family gifts on christmas. And then the punchline of bartleby talking straight to the viewer is a perfect way to end the episode. You don't even question it because bartleby was the one who made this happy ending possible, because of course he did. he's bartleby. That extends to the rest of the su cast, where they're simple to a point of precision that makes everything they do feel in character because tamers is so invested in these characters.

But then you have fucking twilight giving all of these empty bullshit soul bond plateaus to trixie as a giant creature and it's like, what the fuck bitch? Yes this shot was harder to make, but the time sacrificed that could have gone to conveying these character's feelings uniquely or making their bond more engaging was put to the wayside. Imagine the time it took to draw soarin in a time master costume compared to giving him lines to say that are memorable. Im not saying it’s bad to upgrade the visuals, but tamers had to trade off the precision that made su feel so locked in. The nuance isn’t there anymore with scenes like this.

so was the 'Sonic Underground for 2025' just to give us one half a special for Sonic Underground to be in and the ponyslop continue on as normal?

Tamers, just change your fucking banner to MLP and make your profile pic Twilight Sparkle if it’s gonna be your main shit.

For a really long time, a lot of older fans gatekept tamers. It was relatively effective in not attracting people like sharty, but the issue we're faced with now is that the elaborate thematicism that tamers had cultivated with SU is split across yt channels and the archive, and its tough as is to convince others to see his su work. Especially with his recent shift (:_(
