Soarin's Hazbin Hotel expressions came back lol. I wonder if Tamers watched HH?
honestly Arinos and Friendship are weak as characters and I do not like them. They dont mesh well with the main cast and suffer from sparkledog syndrome (too many colors and intricate designs)
Reviewing this was a miserable affair. Right off the bat it starts with the annoying MLP OC's, within the first 5 minutes, and it continues on and on with these faggots. Apple Bottom and Care Package immediately eat the spotlight and the majority of the jokes here are 'I'm quirky and gay, look at me', and believe me when I say there aren't that many jokes. Any episode that has the 4-gay pony ensemble immediately dips in quality because it forces the episode to re-orient itself around the gay melodrama of these clowns. The attempt to try and 'self-reflect' on how the characters are all actually pieces of shit and horrendously flawed doesn't work because it's accepted within Tamers' world(s) that this depraved sense of morality, the rampant sex, the common beatings, the continual everything that gives Tamers work its edge and flair is meant to be looked at in a semi-serious light and it just does not work. You wanna know how the SU episodes would fix this dilemma? Bartleby or Manic would slap their bitch, fuck them in the ass, and then it would be resolved.
Yeah, that was my main gripe and honestly this 5-way gay melodrama doesn't mesh with Tamersverse in that every character is a piece of shit.

Tamers is producing the best pro-homophobia MLP works by making all his gay pairings the most insufferable and shit parts of his series.

Doc, the medicine doesn't work like it used to.
Watched this one out of habit, knew I wouldn't like it so I guess I can only be dissapointed with myself. Besides the cringey fag shit that everyone obviously hates, I also want to add that the ending especially felt incredibly flaccid. There were literally zero consequences for anything that happened besides for the CPS pony dying and Braeburn getting a horn, nobody really seemed to be particularly affected by the fabric of reality shattering. In fact, everyone got exactly what they wanted. I was surprised that the two gay knife murderers turned out just fine AND continued to be gay knife murderers.
I don't expect much from Tamers but when he really tries to write elaborate stories they suck ASS.

What a mess. I liked the first part though, between the top-shelf homophobia about gays adopting so they can just play parent theater rather than actually raise a child and Celestia handing out medallions feeling really Tamers, it devolves from there. Kind of like DOTL but at least there was more going on, and without the repeated monologue like S&B, but it very much overstayed its welcome and I was very ready for it to end. Credit where it's due, lots of ambition in the animation, but we gotta stop Tamers from watching anime. It was okay when he was reanimating anime sequences with Sonic and Bartleby for a laugh but its gone too far at this point.

Y'know I never made the possible connection Tamers may've been inspired by Hazbin Hotel and whatnot. But when you put it that way- the expressions, the too-colorful OC's, the gay sex jokes, it suddenly makes sense. That does make me worried about what a return to Sonic Underground would look like then. Would Bardonic be safe from such melodrama?

My theory is that Tamers knows that a big chunk of his pony audience is into Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss and he watched one or both of them to study them in order to further appeal to that demographic. As for melodrama creeping into SU, I don’t think it will happen. I think Tamers loves his no holds barred approach and that his audience that has been around for years wouldn’t want it to go. And I’ve seen a good chunk of the pony people in the chat say they enjoy SU.

Speaking of, trust the plan!

Anyway, I could barely comprehend this one. So hard to follow and all the gays were present. I was excited when Apple Bottom and Care Package got killed just to be disappointed when they came back to life. Overall, one of the worst things Tamers has ever produced.

Funny stuff from chat:

Tamers went from It's Always Sunny with Sonic characters to Hazbin Hotel with My Little Pony characters

Never has there been a worse downgrade

That part also made me excited, I wanted them to die so bad. It would have been a fitting sendoff for both of those shits.

Also apple bottom was referred to as "them" in the credits sequence, though it might have been referring to his split personality. I'm sure the pony people will interpret it in only one way though.

Part of me wants to interpret this as Tamers putting a nice bow on everything related to MLP. After having watched that awful special I can at least say it does tie up every little storyline and through-line for the MLP series that I can think of. Soarin and Braeburn stay together, nothing ever happens barring free magic powers. The Hazbin Hotel pony couple gets to live and with 0 consequences or changes. Twilight is still a bitch, etc. . .

Part of me does perhaps desperately hope that when we return to SU, Tamers doesn't try and double-dip projects. Just strictly Sonic Underground for the foreseeable future. But at the same time, I can't ignore how much growth the bronies have allowed Tamers to have financially and popularity-wise. Though if Tamers does put an end to MLP for the forseeable future, I can only imagine the sperging from /mlp/

Pretty much my feelings on it. Tone was all over the fucking place to the point that most of the jokes felt like they were made out of obligation.

At least this moment was pretty cute.

Edit: Soarin's Hazbin Hotel expressions came back lol. I wonder if Tamers watched HH?

I haven't seen much of HH because I'm not entirely far gone but he absolutely did because Braeburn's entire dance number during that shitty fansong (probably another Princewhateverer fagslop creation) is basically Angel Dust's Poison number. Mainly the parallels of an abused fag dancing in leather juxtaposed with him being fucked by his abuser. God I wish I didn't understand all these influences. Sorry to anyone reading.

Nah, most of the anons have been venting their frustrations with the gay pony drama and ngl, it has been a hugbox here, but like it is warranted because Tamer's pony-shit has been his weakest videos so far.

To preface, I find the new gays(Apple Bottom/Split and Care Package) to be the hardest to watch characters of the recent developments. All three of the "filler" episodes, the best western, the hometown buffet, and the lemonade stand episodes were funnier with better pacing.

On the bright side, across the more serious projects, meaning Twilight Gets Stuck in a Porta Potty, Death of Trixie, Twilight gets into a fight with a Clown, and Infection(the most recent one), this one was more watchable than the other three. Which means that while it's still not good, he is at least getting better at making these more serious plotlines tolerable for the rest of his audience.

I zoned out over the last 20 minutes or so when we get the long Soarin dialogue with Arinos(?), as I didn't really give a fuck and think it's pretty stupid that Soarin is some kind of timelord now. Tamers seems to have issues with putting long dialogue sequences where they shouldn't be at the very end of many of his serious videos. He also needs to get better at making his serious plotlines have consequences; it's frustrating when characters die and then get brought back because magic, as others in this thread have pointed out. One of the reasons the arson episode of old is my favorite serious episode is because it had all the consequences, it was paced well, and the homophobia of the characters meant something for the plot. He's also spending too much time trying to make things cinematic, cutting to another shot every couple of seconds isn't necessary.

Attached was my favorite joke from the episode.

Going to requote myself because fuck it, why not, HOPEFULLY the gay pony drama is behind us AND HOPEFULLY this will be the last we see them.
fuuuuuuuuuuck, on the bright side, I feel like after this episode the (hopefully) majority of gay pony drama will be behind us. And, at the very least we can get back to ponies shitting/beating each other up.
Really the only things left are...
- Sweetie Belle's and Scootaloo's eyes
- Shining Armor and Princess Cadence dealing with Chrysalis' drone-child
I am purposefully ignoring any future stories about Friendship/Arienos/Care Package/Apple Bottom (Split)

what switch was flipped in Tamers head to make the ponyshit the most edgy and melodramatic shit possible?
I refer you to a based post that pretty much hits the nail on the head
Tamers has never been ironic. He's been self-aware, but that's just not the same as irony. He has looked cringe in the face and cringe blinked like a bitch.
Tamers was always cringe, edgy, and melodramatic, but he is 100% aware of what he is doing

This was a problem he had in SU too. Pa got killed in BWTB then brought back to life with the reset, fair enough. Then he gets killed again in "Sonic Experiences A Tragic Death On Christmas" and brought back to life AGAIN in Halloween Heroes. Ma also was killed and immediately brought back at the end of that episode. We saw Mandy die in "Sonic Goes The Pool And Almost Dies" and I'm sure she'll be brought back to life somehow or her death just ignored when SU comes back. He can't seem to commit to killing a character off, even when they're an insignificant side character that really doesn't add much.

I will throw my two cents into this and say I think one of the reasons why Tamers SU is able to stand on its own is because it allows crossovers. If it was strictly Sonic Underground characters and other normal people, the number of stories Tamers could do within reason would be horribly limited and dare I say would hurt the cast in the long run. Allowing the SU cast to interact with more media took what might be a relatively cringy and edgy fan series turn into a more fleshed out absurdist series. The Sonic Underground having a rival band? It's the Doodlebops of all things- and said rival band also turns out to be a bunch of creepy pedophiles. War with The Boys? It becomes an ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny between the forces of Sonic Underground and evil. Tamers was always cringy, edgy, and melodramatic; but the amount of absurdity added by seeing Sonic interact with a Doodlebop or Yugi helps shave the edge and the cringe down and oddly allows the melodrama to not be as melodramatic.

I guarantee you if you tried to make the hour-long special against The Boys just be between the SU cast and The Boys it couldn't work as an hour-long special, or so many contrivances would have to come out it'd hurt the special as a whole. That's a thought that's been in the back of my head since the start of the MLP run, it's just the Mane Six and then the 5-way gay ensemble, and I think that's a huge reason as to why the cringe and edge seems more prevalent even if its always been there, there's nothing else but these two groups to bounce shit off of- and these two groups could not be any worse to try and bounce comedy and drama off of. I couldn't put the words together until now and I hope I got the point across.

I hate that nearly all the gays and OCs are borderline Mary Sues. I mean you could argue Bartleby is one too but at least he’s one in a funny way and even then he has character flaws.

There’s also Sid the Science Kid and Gerald. They both died in WW3 then they are both inexplicably alive again in the episode about the mysterious room in Sid’s house.

I'd say Bartleby as an overpowered Mary Sue works because Bartleby's strength comes from his huge muscles and riches, things that he clearly works for and things he cares for deeply and passionately, Bartleby is still shown to work for his powers from time to time, he's business savvy, charismatic, and takes good care of his figure.

The MLP OCs meanwhile are overpowered Mary Sues through functionally very little but random cosmic chance and some pre-determination bullshit if the latest special is to be understood, then the Mane Six being tossed to the side in their own series as a bunch of overpowered crybabies try and fuck one another or having long monologues about why they're sad and angsty. That and Apple Bottom having to introduce himself every time as the 'actual main character of MLP' and being a thirst-trap makes every time he's introduced into a chore. While Bartleby has a similar gag where he's sometimes introduced as this big shot celebrity in the SU series, it's not Bartleby himself breaking the 4th wall and going 'yes you viewer, it is I, Bartleby Montclair of Dresdin who was actually the main character of Sonic Underground', it's a news report in its place. Imagine how much people would hate Bartleby if every episode he held a major role in started with some pretentious self-monologue for a solid minute.
