Reviewing this was a miserable affair. Right off the bat it starts with the annoying MLP OC's, within the first 5 minutes, and it continues on and on with these faggots. Apple Bottom and Care Package immediately eat the spotlight and the majority of the jokes here are 'I'm quirky and gay, look at me', and believe me when I say there aren't that many jokes. Any episode that has the 4-gay pony ensemble immediately dips in quality because it forces the episode to re-orient itself around the gay melodrama of these clowns. The attempt to try and 'self-reflect' on how the characters are all actually pieces of shit and horrendously flawed doesn't work because it's accepted within Tamers' world(s) that this depraved sense of morality, the rampant sex, the common beatings, the continual everything that gives Tamers work its edge and flair is meant to be looked at in a semi-serious light and it just does not work. You wanna know how the SU episodes would fix this dilemma? Bartleby or Manic would slap their bitch, fuck them in the ass, and then it would be resolved.
Also, the musical numbers, every single one of them were total ass, especially the one featuring Braeburn, Big Mac, and Soarin in leather. I'm not elaborating further; I hated them all. I miss when songs were put into episodes not because they became gay musical scenes for a couple minutes, but more along the lines of 'Everywhere I Go' when Bartleby is singing along to shooting up a school after being rejected to join a birthday party.
The animation department is perhaps the only thing I can praise about this, it seems working on MLP is allowing him to be more experimental in that regard and I did like the style of Care Package's self-reflection, but beyond that this was sourly lacking in most anything certifiably Tamers.
