Ever wondered what kind of tabletop game that Go Make Me a Sandwich lady would make? Here's one of them where you play a guy who has terminal cancer? And no, there isn't a race to find a cure or do some kind of Osmosis Jones type adventure where you try to heal the patient. Though the person who's playing the cancer's goal is to send the patient into a mental breakdown.
Oh lol, we have to play this. This looks terrible.

I showed this to my group and apperently its fairly sane, though it does vaguely reference GG and outrage culture near the end.

"Criticism & Social Media
Role-playing games don’t get a great deal of professional criticism any more. Blogs, websites and forums offer some of this perhaps, but it’s nothing really like we see in other, comparable industries. Given the state of video games journalism this may actually be a blessing. However this does greatly increase the importance of social media and that can be a mixed blessing. On the one hand it is great for cheap promotion and building an audience, on the other social media is a roiling pot of scalding opinion and ground zero for periodic outrage storms, silly hashtags, petitions and more"

Also the mechanics seem to be a bit bad though

James Desborough, aka the RPGPundit, is the author of that piece. He's about as anti-SJW as you can get. A rabid right-winger who constantly spergs about how somebody, somewhere, is playing RPGs the wrong way and how they are ruining everything. He's persona non gratia over at RPGNet for his conservative values, and his involvement in D&D 5e caused a bit of drama.

The funny thing is, he agrees with the other side of the coin in principle, i.e. throwing the sexist/autistic Cat Piss Men out the door. Of course, conservatism is a mortal sin, so he's getting hit with the soggy knees label, even when it doesn't make sense.

You just have to find the corebook for the system it is for, but mostly, the whole cancer wanting to break you down reminds me of the Shadows from Wraith: The Oblivion. Except in Wraith there was a dark, fragile hope and more interactivity.

Having played that game my only advice is not to do it with people you're too attached too. To quote one of friends from the vampire game who was in the underworld of the wraiths "So is the bit where we all put on black masks and tell steve how he's gonna die alone?"

Think I've already played this one before, I'm pretty we fucked up because the 'player' made a full recovery and we didnt do any pretentious shit. I'm up for playing this again however. I figure it'll be a lot more light hearted this time minus the chemo.

Isn't RPGPundit the guy who thinks that basically any game other Dungeons and Dragons is part of a "Cultural Marxist" conspiracy to destroy "true RPGs"? I love that guy.

Can we just force him and Anna kreider to get real jobs?
I have a copy of Dark Ages: Darkening Sky which she did contribute to. While I don't know which scenario she helped write or how much, it shows that she's one of those people that if she's in a structured environment that has expectations, she can do a good job. (Her freelance art is okay.) I'm thinking of maybe giving her her own entry page, but I know she has some mental problems and I'm not sure.

Other OSR clones are okay, but yes, that's him.

Well, right, but as far as I can tell "OSR" is basically "not-Dungeons-and-Dragons-but-basically-Dungeons-and-Dragons".

Incidentally, I got shanghai'd into playing "Dungeon Crawl Classics" today (thought I was going to be trying Frostgrave, but nope!) and I wanted to eat a gun the entire time, made doubly ironic because I've been playing Vampire: The Masquerade for the past couple of weeks and since playing that, I've been reading about and happily sperging over a whole bunch of WoD/CofD games. I guess that makes me filthy Cultural Marxist Storygaming Swine.

I mean, if that's your cup of tea then it's great and from what I saw really well done. I just find the entire concept of the whole "fighter, cleric, and thief make their way through trapped dungeon, stab goblins, steal their money, repeat" deal-y dull, but I'm certainly not going to disparage anyone who enjoys that.

I will, however, disparage RPG Pundit for being incapable of accepting that people like different things, and that it's OK for people to like things he doesn't like, and it's OK for people to not like things he likes, and that the existence of more narrative-based RPGs doesn't mean that classic dungeon crawl RPGs aren't allowed to exist. It's not a zero-sum situation.

EDIT: I'm a retard and thought you said "was good". Point still stands, I can totally see the appeal for a certain type of gamer. The GM and the other players seemed to be really enjoying it. But for me, it's dull as shit. I also question why someone would choose to play it instead of, say, Pathfinder, or even D&D 1e or 2e. I'm glad this option is available to people who like this kind of thing, but I'm also sure as shit glad the market has expanded to give me my more narrative-focused games with an emphasis on the characters changing as people (or changing as vampires, or ghosts, or whatever).

I'm actually a little curious about this considering Medieval Europe's attitudes towards woman, foreigners, Homosexuals and anybody who isnt a Catholic. It looks like Road of Heaven in DA20 was influenced by her and frankly its a lot better than the previous edition, even it's pagan stuff is influenced by historical paganism rather than the Granola shit white wolf usually go for. So maybe she's just a tard on her own time or about sexuality specifically.

That's why I have a feeling that she's someone who needs to be grounded a bit and keep the massive SJW stuff down. She claims she's being funny in her posts, when it just comes off as yelling and she's not Sam Kinison. She gives this vibe that she's not probably not that pleasant to be around.

I've been having a bit of a dry spell regarding games. The closest thing I got to one was one where the GM decided about an hour and a half before the first session to move it another hour down, lost a player, and then in a fit of idiocy decided to state vaguely that a game would happen on the weekend, without deciding firmly on it.

I guess he had nothing regarding a campaign since he basically gave up by Sunday even when I brought in two guys to fill in the spots.

At this rate I may need to GM again... which gives me three settings I'm half interested in doing.

I made a tiered gestalt alchemist for a game and i'm sorta mixed about how i've played him. He's supposed to be fairly sheltered, especially since he came from a 'commune' thats inreality more like a modern cult. so i played him as rather inquisitive and coldfish-emotionless. (though quite a bit of it is due to disadvantages from the book of distinguishments and disadvantages). however i cant not think that i'm just playing an autistic fellah.

On the other hand he's supposed to actually be a failed/punished citizen from the cults 'research', and not someone whom has been sent out to gather supplies and knowledge for the group, like he says. The thing about it is, he's too batshit to even know he is one of those things he's afraid of.

as for the cult themselves, they're trying to force evolution among humanity, if i remember the gist of it.

You know, I've always wanted to try these kinds of games out at least once. I've seen a lot of videos about people's stories and it got me really interested. But I've never been able to get a group together to play. I was close once. We managed to get a group of people who were interested and even got our characters set up( I think it was 4.5 setup), but we were never able to agree on a time.

Running a pathfinder drop in game of friday if you're interested? It is a good format fora novice player.

Sure, I'll give it a shot. If it's good for beginners, that works for me. Is there anywhere/anything I need in particular to design my character and everything?

The roll20 is here:
https://app.roll20.net/join/1517329/g5DabA

Roll 3d6 per attribute. You can boost one low roll to 9 for free.

You can boost other low scores to 9 by reducing high scores to 11.

You always get the minimum skills/spells etc availiable to your class even if your modifier would normally prevent that.
