if only someone had some type of device that was able to send projectiles through the air at over 100mph that could be used to incapacitate a violent individual armed with a close-range weapon.

a shame those don't exist in switzerland.

What kind of fuckin scrub do you have to be to attack 5 people with a chainsaw and only 'severely injure' one person?

I will give the attacker credit for being more creative than gun spree killers though, I think originally counts for a lot.

The government actually gives people guns in Switzerland when they turn 18.

On that note how often do spree killers get stopped by a rando with a gun? I'm not saying that as a challenge, I'm genuinely curious.

That would require people with concealed weapons.
You can own firearms in Switzerland, but concealed carry is prohibited with few exceptions.
In general I would say not that often because spree killers are cowards that seek ought areas with a low possibillity of concealed firearms among their victims (schools, states/countries with harsh gun laws).

fuck me, i just figured they were one of those countries that lacked guns. this is what happens when you shitpost without googling.

the more you know.
Plot twist: while they may have the guns, the bullets are a little hard to come by. Only way they get bullets in Switzerland legit is if the country is being invaded and they report for duty.

Also when is this forest guy going to cut down the internet?

But what are the odds that the average citizen is carrying a gun on them. The mandatory ownership of guns is probably for rifles in case of an invasion or whatever and recreationaly for hunting.

Swiss citizens who've been in their equivalent of the reserves are allowed (not mandated) to keep their service rifle at home but they don't get ammunition AFAIK - it would be given to them if they were ever called up for service. You'd have better odds defending yourself with a gun in the U.S. by far.

First you want guns, then you want bullets. What the fuck else are you going to complain about, triggers, stocks, and barrels?
There's just no pleasing some people.

The Swiss also seem to lack a desire for self-defense.

They have a photo of the suspect now.

Gotta say, this has to be the most dejected looking chainsaw wielding maniac I've ever seen.

You think the reason they've been able to tell the entire world to fuck off and remain neutral in every major war for the last couple centuries is just because everyone else is nice?

The Kaiser famously asked the Swiss what would happen if he sent a million men against the 500,000 strong Swiss Militia. The Response?

"Fire Twice and then go home."
