Which 3D Mario game did you grow up playing the most? For me it was Sunshine but I've never beaten the game. I get so far and then get sick of all the BS missions and stop playing after about three hours.
I was a teenager when it was released but I like Sunshine a lot more than SM64. I completely understand that SM64 was very important in establishing 3D Mario platformers (and 3D platformers in general) just like how Super Mario Bros. was a trailblazer in the sidescrolling 2D platformer genre, but Sunshine had the benefit of having more advanced technology (and experience) to work with. Much like how Super Mario Bros. 3 outshined the original as well.

That said my absolutely all time favorite is the first Galaxy game, but I was 19 when it came out.

I'm sad I never got around to playing the original Paper Mario games and the first won't even emulate properly for me. Sucks.
I find it a bit frustrating that no one wants to give credit to the first Paper Mario. I hear all this shit about remaking Thousand Year Door when it's the first one that should get priority, especially since N64 emulation is ass. Even the previous Virtual Console releases of it didn't run right.

Take that back motherfucker, Mario Paint was what you made of it, I loved that shit as a kid. I never made anything worthwhile in that game, just tons of complete garbage, but I had fun doing it.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=tIIs-yx01_kThe fly swatting game was pretty fun too.

I hated the fly swatting game. Mario Paint was awful because it wasnt really a game. It's hardly fair to even call it a game. It's as much of a game as this piece of shit

Peach was the one in SMB2. Daisy showed up in Super Mario Land.

JP Mario 2 isn't that good though. It's just a rehash of the first game with a cheap difficulty spike.

I loved Mario Paint. The soundtrack is nostalgic and I wish the game had a Virtual Console release, (unless it does already and I just haven't heard about it.)

Yeah american mario 2 is way better then the garbage kaizo hack they got in japan

Higher difficulty doesn’t equal a good game. Same goes for a good Kaizo hack in some ways but I don’t play Kaizo Mario so I can’t make any definitive statements about that.

As someone who grew up playing classic sonic Mario games are difficult to me. The physics feel so strange. Hot take, but I feel like the control is better in Sonic while Mario has better level design and enemy placement.

I still hope Nintendo has the license to put the George Clinton's cover of Walk the Dinosaur from the SMB movie into a Mario game.
I want to see a game where George Clinton leads a group of funky goombas.

Damn why would so many of you choose Bowser futanari headcanon over 7 foot tall space babe? smh

mario world is overall better than 3.
I respectfully disagree. While the spin jump and Yoshi are a nice addition to Mario's move-set and make for some interesting game play the level design feels considerably less interesting. Combine that with the areas being less exciting it just isn't as good as Mario 3.

it's been awhile but I also remember world being more snappy over-all, even control wise.
and it may sound stupid but Ithink 3 is a bit too long and gets stale after a while.

I like Mario World more than 3, but i'm probably biased since i played Wold first when i was a kid, i didn't play Mario 3 until it was remade for the GBA

World is a little sparse at times because it got hustled out for the SFC launch.
3 is lacking because no save and no level replays and barely implemented Shoe
the GBA version of All Stars 3 is one of the least shit SNES->GBA ports because it only crops like one row of bricks because of that big stat bar at the bottom of the screen

Super Mario RPG remains one of the best 2d Mario games despite being a spinoff by a different company, fight me.

Rosalina is almost as lazy a design as the recolors. She's just Peach with a different hair cut and dress.
