Styx really should sprint to the nearest hospital in VT, detox there because it's usually more comfortable and safer than rehab detox, turn himself in to the police in VT, amend his application for public defender services, and hope to God VT & LA don't pull him every which way and let him go to rehab.

Styx getting sober is basically his last chance to salvage any of this. I doubt he considers that an option. Sad, pathetic!

If he goes to rehab he's going to get so much AA 12 step exposure, 15 hour days for a month straight. He's going to be expected to not be an outspoken shit head during group discussions (which will be 95% of every day). He might get a 15 minute telephone call a time or two every week.
As much as I want him to succeed in finishing that, I would be extremely surprised if he's able to squelch his own assclownery and ego enough to not be the dick that gets emo disgusted with the constant talk about higher powers and walks out of the room because it's antithetical to his whole being.
Either way I can't wait for whomever he designates to be his social media wrangler while he's in rehab jail or whatever to post publically and (here's hoping) here as well

I had a handful of Dear Feeder's MATIs running over the last few days in the background for noise while cleaning, and honestly- he needs to stop doing them without notes. The stuff he thinks he remembers is often inaccurate, and even a handful of those with notes taken, they are too.

I mean, I get it, he's trying to monetize what he can from a gossip website, but when he says something obviously wrong, it does annoy me, too.

That's for state mandated, which he will wind up in eventually, but if he gets ahead of it and enters a program he can complete before turning himself in(or at least show that he's in)... They might let him finish that program.

IRL, he is shy, backward, and meek around other people. The slightest forced irl interaction sends him into anxiety attacks. This is why he requires an emotional support potato to lead him around on a leash. As we saw in NOLA, he was crying to Sam about not being able to handle being left alone in NOLA with no one there to escort him.

Thing I've noticed about people going through rehab for addiction problems is that they really have to want to change and accept there are things they'll never be able to do, namely whatever they're addicted to. I've known people who have been hooked on harder stuff than Styx and have managed this, but they've made the decision to completely get rid of an entire aspect of their lives to do it and continue to follow up with their sponsors years or decades later. It's something you have to be really open about to everyone you know as well. "No I don't drink because I have a substance abuse problem, I won't attend this event if I think it will harm my sobriety" sort of thing. It requires an amount of acceptance and humility that I hope I never have to muster for myself.

Then we have Tarl, who very obviously doesn't want to change anything, actively turns his nose up at anyone giving him advice, and lies constantly even about pointless stuff. That's not a guy who is going to complete rehab, that's a guy who at the very best will pull a Bossman Jack, Ethan Ralph or Nick Rekieta. They'll go for sympathy/legal reasons, not take it seriously, and then gleefully go back to the same shit right after. He won't stick with a community of recovering addicts because he looks down on everyone that isn't Tarl Warwick. A group of people who take those things seriously will sniff him out and boot him the minute he starts to become a problem. Tarl is the kind of guy to talk about how the world is a joke and he can still have a drink to a room of people looking for any excuse to use.

There's a really good episode of the Snakebones podcast with @SeizureRobot5000 where he talks with someone who has completed the 12 step program. It's in relation to how Cobes just wouldn't do it, but Tarl is a knock off Cobra anyway so much of it will apply to him. The intro is pure kino.


TLDR for pirates that can't read: Tarl doesn't want to fix himself so he won't, but might lie about it at some point.
 
I'd be scared to fake a stroke. That's bad juju. Tempting fate.

Losing the ability to read just before going to prison would be pretty ironic though. I hear reading books and exchanging letters are two of the only ways to stay busy in there.
