Like a few other people have posted, I'm in that interim, jobless, born-again NEET zone. I have a weird and varied resume and after having been jerked around by "Second Interviews" over a dozen times the last 6 months in my attempts to nail a cozy, brainless, service gig. [And when it isn't fake jobs and retarded usual suspect assistant managers, it's shit like some retard asking me to explain the 2 year gap in my resume from 2020 to 2022 and then telling me that "COVID wasn't an excuse" or me literally getting turned down at McDonalds because I "look like a Trump sleeper agent" - interpret that as you will.]

One of my gaming bros suggested working at a cemetary, being a Gravedigger or Undertaker, as a drunken joke and it got me thinking about the strange jobs. The ones that are stable and pay well, but aren't exactly trades nor some new age crypto digital fad/scam.

Anybody have any suggestions, anything come to mind? [I'd ask my native homeland of Q&A, but, well, it's Q&A.]

Edit: If anybody is wondering my resume covers the gamut of service: retail, restraunts, hotels, gas stations and goes to sales, armed security, etc.

I feel like there's a lot in Japan, for some reason, don't ask me why.

Oh yeah, the "pushers" (they push people into trains because they barely fit), totally that and not just some weird lewd stuff. Oh, of course, seller of used panties, well, if it's done in one of those vending machines, the ones that refill it.

You get the idea, there must be one for changing the BDSM gear of your Yakuza boss every night, or something ludicrous like that.

I always thought working at a pawn shop might be kind of interesting. I know they're actually not like Pawn Stars, but still.
There's quite a few channels on YouTube that film their shit independently (not a TV, just a YouTube channel) and a lot of it goes through ebay and there's a lot of risk with certain things, you can't really sell iphones and shit like that anymore because its a pain in the ass, but there is obviously money to be made in it.

OP,
Make up some shit like you were a video editor for youtubers in your gap, so you were self-employed as a contractor. Easy way to fill any gaps cause they can't check that shit.

IIRC sean connery was an undertaker for a while, same as his dad.

Go for it.
or me literally getting turned down at McDonalds because I "look like a Trump sleeper agent"
WTF? what blue inferno you live in that burger flippers get that kind of bullshit?
"i was providing end of life care for a family member"
They don't care, just say something like "I was finding myself"/van life/digital nomad, the same kind of bullshit they like to hear.

I mean, I've since extended what I was doing to shrink the gap to 3 months of travel, which nicely conjoins the fact that the true and honest jobs I held were 2,200 miles apart. But still, how the fuck are the COVID Lockdowns not a valid excuse?

Especially in this bluer than blue east coast trash-heap in which I currently reside.

Oof, bud, you just gotta make something up at that point. Like ask a friend or relative who owns their home/properties to vouch for you and say you were a property manager for those 2 years for their property. For the job description just say you managed the relationship with the tenants, collected money, did repairs, did lawn work, etc.

I know a woman who worked in one as summer help. She said it was mostly depressing, things like parents bringing in their kids' bikes or PlayStations and saying they needed the money to pay the light bill when they knew darned well that they were en route to the liquor store or the casino.

I missed one day of work due to covid lockdowns, but I also missed 18 months of work due to being fired for drunk-driving a forklift and then being homeless and then going to rehab. Just say you were in rehab. From what I've seen, employers love to be the one to give someone a second chance. Try to mention you need a certain day off because you volunteer at church. It works even better if you actually volunteer at church and you can get a pastor as a referee. Just go hang out at church a bunch is what I'm saying. You'll meet people and one of them might have a job for you.

So far and not really any thanks to this thread I've started to zero in on Gravedigging, Online T-Shirt Shops & Mycology. Free spores with every shirt, free shirts with every corpse.

Start wholesaling random stuff off alibaba. I just found out I can get nail clippers for like 70c if I buy 100 of them
I've been doing that for 2 years and have only started to turn a profit after investing thousands.

Best advice to OP either check with local farms or temp services, the jobs are going to be dogshit which is why they will hire anyone capable of it.

I knew a guy who was a grave digger. He used to be a roadie for Van Halen. He told me that he sometimes stole jewelry from the dead. There were a bunch of above ground mausoleums that were easy pickings since no one ever went into them. That really freaked me out. I hope he was just messing with me.

From my limited understanding you're unlikely to find employment just digging graves, it's usually a more general grounds management position. Equipment operation is going to be similar work in a bit deeper of a market. Not many places will care to hire someone with a certificate but no experience. You'll have better luck getting in as a helper and having them pay your way to certification.

There's all sorts of weird jobs surrounding public transport, railyards, etc... you can always look for some sort of entry level/trainee position. Otherwise if you have the knack for electronics, being a tool/specialised machine repairman can be good. Find someone who does it and glue yourself to them, I guess coffee/espresso machines are the best bet for where you live.
