I suspect it's because most of them have nothing to be proud of besides the skin they were born with.

There's some truth to the idea that Whites tend to be more successful than other races (except Asians and Jews) but from what I've seen the ones who obsess over that generally seem to be, uh, low quality humans. Many seem to be literally this:

South Park's spent the last four years constantly shitting on the Trump administration, meanwhile make a joke about the President on /v/ and you'll be met with soyboy wojaks, lefty/pol/ accusations, "left can't meme" accusations, and 20 variations on nigger, commie, and tranny. And r/the_donald was flat out a /pol/ op in order to bring redditors to 4chan because everyone else on the site hated their asses.

I don't think Pinochet and Peron are remotely similar in policy or consequence. Pinochet, while a dictator, introduced economic policies that led to Chile eventually becoming the richest country in South America, while Peronism utterly broke Argentina to this day.

No I'm well aware of Pinochet's reign. He legitimately is the among the best dictators of the 20th century (the others probably being Tito, Xiaoping, Minh, Sankara, and Franco).

Pinochet still did something wrong though. He used Milton Friedman's proposals to improve his country beyond belief, but Friedman hated Pinochet's guts because he tortured and killed political dissidents to do it and that along with Lew Rockwell pandering to racists in the 80s killed libertarianism dead among the Left. It was especially insulting because the Libertarian Party's growth in the 1970s targeted SDS and New Left types who cared more about the social aspects than the Marxism.

Pinochet wasn't a libertarian, though. He was an economically liberal autocrat, in the same way that the Brazilian junta led to the economic miracle for a few years, and he didn't care about what American libertarians thought. US libertarianism is fundamentally a non-functional ideology because it inevitably butts against the rule of law with restrictions on corporate scams and basic, necessary economic regulations like fishing restrictions to stop catastrophes like the north Atlantic cod collapse, which most voters value massively. The more pragmatic end of it (the Ron Pauls of the world) can draw some votes, but anything hinting at anarcho-capitalism turns the electorate off at once. Libertarianism was never going to be actually popular. It didn't even register in 1970s elections relative to Nixon and Carter.

Pinochet's main mistake from his perspective was holding a referendum on his rule and losing. His government came by coup and never had any actual popular mandate for his rule, so as soon as he held fair elections he was gone.
