This one looks pretty interesting so far.
It's okay. The matchmaking is terrible - maybe the player base will be more full in full release, but often incomplete teams, but what's really bad is its 5 v 5 but will regularly load up a team 5 v 3 or such, which in small player counts like that is crippling, and players will just fuck off instead of finishing a game (unlike Rainbow Six, a 5 v 5 where people take it seriously). In some of the modes the spawn killing is horrific. But the core of the game is good, I'd compare it to something like Call of Duty (in deathmatch/domination) or CSGO (in purge) w. Titanfall-like movement gimmicks. There was apparently another old space shooter of that exact genre, but it's dead now, so if someone wants to play a zero-G shooter like this this is pretty much it.

What I've been experimenting with is using tactical rolls. You can in principle orient yourself however you want. Logic is to either never roll at all, or roll to always have "the ground" below you, but arguably there is a potential tradeoff between making it easier for you to comprehend your own environment versus making it more difficult for your enemy to anticipate you if you roll into a weird orientation. I've been playing with that, like sliding on my side along the ground instead of upright, wild spinning when covering ground from cover to cover, or just going upside down so your head is in the opposite spot of where someone would expect. I think that if the game is improved it will really shine for having its own totally different movement system, like how Titanfall shone back when it was new.

I don't know what all maps they have planned, but these do feel kind of samey, they play very differently but the nature of the setting is it all looks the same. I would think some potential might include things like a shuttle raid (space shuttle that's been blasted open for a hijacking), orbital hydroponics farm, and satellite field. Could also have some better objectives-based play. I think something like Rainbow Six Siege in space would be better than this. But I'll play it anyways, its unique.

Indeed a step forward from Frozen Synapse.
Had to look it up, but Achron was the one I had heard of.

OPERATION: HARSH DOORSTOP
Someone was so ass-blasted about things costing money that they decided to make a free military FPS. That's cool I guess. Interesting that they're trying to have multiple wars (WW1, WW2, Vietnam, contemporary Middle East).
I want to see what the modding community will do with the game.

Well, Route 66 Simulator is trash (was there ever any doubt)? The fact that a very early point in the demo was brokena nd made the game freeze was some evidence, extremely sensitive driving was another, and then add onto that the cardinal sin of that it blares modern Black R&B music and garbage instead of oldies (in a game about a road that doesn't even exist anymore).

Colonize, TBH I don't feel like learning anything new right now, but it looks like it actually goes pretty far in on the educational aspect.
