This year it has some interesting games. Here are my finds:

Edit: KF recommends

Here is the best I played:

Infection Free Zone
header.jpg

A squad RTS set in the Zombie Apocalypse.

Shadow of Doubt
header.jpg

An interesting first person detective/crime solving puzzle game with procedurally generating city and crimes

Sagres
header.jpg

Think Dwarf Fortress adventure mode; you are an explorer exploring the world in the 15th century.

Townseek
header.jpg

A cartoony, quirky Patrician/Tropico focused on exploration and trade.

Protodroid DeLTA
header.jpg

A really well done Megaman 3D clone

Xenonauts 2
header.jpg

Xcom with the autism tuned to 11. Really close to the original XCOM/UFO

Super Auto Battlemon
header.jpg

A single player autochess/monster collection. A little bit roguelike, but gets the side of Autochess right.

Cardboard Town
header.jpg

A really nice card/town building game, close to Ratropolis.

Exogate Initiative
header.jpg

This is a Evil Genius/Dungeon Keeper clone, except scifi/futuristic. The demo doesn't showcase much, but you can examine foreign aliens and make contact with various alien species.

Plan B Terraform
header.jpg

Factorio, but you get a whole planet and there's trucks and all that stuff.

Schism
header.jpg

An interestic roguelike with a spastic color scheme.

Boulette Hell
header.jpg

A really unique bullet shooter game.

Dangerous Ultimate Cartridge Kidnapper
header.jpg

A really interesting Warioware clone, inspired from classic NES games.

Unmurk
header.jpg

A nice, relaxing 3D puzzle
Wasn't really aware of it until today. Most of it looks like hot garbage. Some stuff that stood out that I haven't already talked about:

OPERATION: HARSH DOORSTOP
Someone was so ass-blasted about things costing money that they decided to make a free military FPS. That's cool I guess. Interesting that they're trying to have multiple wars (WW1, WW2, Vietnam, contemporary Middle East).

PHANTOM BRIGADE
Holy shit someone's making a spiritual successor to that RTS game where the gimmick was that you could time travel and strategically use time travel paradoxes. Genuinely good news.

ROUTE 66 SIMULATOR
I assume this is going to be some garbage like those truck simulators wehre there's no game, just driving, but I'm still curious because I actually kind of want a good road tripping Americana game. (I think something like that could kind of work if it was like Oregon Trail but capable of procedurally generating in stretches of road and having certain hub areas to drive in.)

BUILDERS OF GREECE
Eh might be nice. Gets me thinking, Manor Lords but you rule a polis would be neat. (Would be really cool, could build fleets, go raiding, take slaves. But I don't think this is going to have war at all, just city-builder. Anno seems like it would be ripe for a Hellenic game.)

COLONIZE
Hey, Banished but it's explicitly set in the English New World. That actually sounds good. Looks kind of shit.

I AM FUTURE
I should like this. I even made a post in another thread about wanting to explore derelict skyscrapers, and I love underwater stuff, but this doesn't look right to me. Too cartoony, feels like cottagecore crap.

Was pleasantly surprised by I am Future, as well as Darkest Dungeon 2 (I know it's been out on EBS for a year, but it hasn't been out for actual people.)

Tried Dark and Darker, and that is some hot fucking garbage, run by insane devs, played by the most dick sucking yesmen I've ever seen.

Edit: Added the shit community.

So like Tarkov but without the good gameplay.
Spot on. Bonus, they HATE the comparison, saying Tarkov is shit. Their game where it takes 5 hits to kill a literal fly, you get spawned into the center of monster groups, and walls might as well be made of mesh for all they stop monster attacks is the REAL shit.

Extra Bonus, all of the shitty things about their game? The terrible solo mode, the fact that shields don't actually stop any attacks, but block half your screen? According to the devs, these are totally intentional, and therefor, great.

Virgin and Darker:
>make fantasy Tarkov
>complain that people compare your game to Tarkov

Chadrauders:
>make sci-fi Tarkov
>"yes our game is inspired by Tarkov, how could you tell"

I won't add links as KF isn't working properly.

Plan B seems to be an ok automation game. Desynced is another automation game, but not quite as good imo.

I have Phantom Brigade (a mech tactical RPG) and Xenonauts 2 (Xcom clone) demos to play yet.

There is a game called Broken Arrow that look graphically impressive, but don't know anything about the gameplay.

Steam forums is in a up roar over required a throw away online account for a single player game but I enjoyed my hour with Ravenbound. Its trying to be a Open World Dark Soul-ish game and I can't decide if its gonna work fully or turn into a glorious mess. The combat system is okay-ish, the map looks great but the NPC feel pretty lifeless (both the mobs and the villages) through the developer nail the feeling of flying as a raven.

Worth it to check out at least.

@Gender: Xenomorph Good shout out of Shadows of Doubt, pretty great. Thanks for the heads up!

Edit: Holy god, Phantom Brigade is shit. Glad to see that EGS money went to a good cause.
