Because there was just so much important stuff being posted on steam community that the memes were getting in the way of.
I get the point of letting the community award one another for when a user writes a good guide, but they must have vastly underestimated the amount of retards who'd write one of those guides like "How to jump. Step 1: Press A. If you like this guide leave me an award RIGHT THERE 👆" and then they actually get awards from the mentally retarded community

I hate these with a passion. Did we really move away from forums and walkthrough sites just so people can post trash like this on Steam?
There are still a lot of good guides on steam, they're just buried under random shit like "how to get green trust factor" and "how to jump". Unfortunately as we all know these existed way before the jester was added, and are still here after. Currently I feel like most games are either A. easy enough to not need a walkthrough or B. your best bet is just going on the wiki and finding the page for the specific topic you need info about. If the game doesn't have a wiki I guess you're fucked, but most games that are even a little bit popular will.

I loathe them. I only go to guides when I'm hopelessly stuck or don't understand something. And then I see all these stupid award farming guides instead. They should all be removed because they aren't helpful in any way.

I wish you could filter guides via language because there's so many Russian ones that just clogged the menu

I love forums to death and it's the one reason I post on KF. It's 'fast social media' enough that you don't need to write a whole-ass journal, but it's 'gatekeeping' enough that it keeps out the faggot zoomies who need that triple-post dopamine. I know, it's quite the gatekeeping having to write out a post, read it through and hit 'post', but it's seemingly day and night to kids these days.

I wish the forums per game on Steam were actually worthwhile. Like, set up properly to the point they look worthwhile to use. You know, pick up an old game and find people actively discussing it.

Something I've noticed on the community forums is that there's usually a Valve employee locking old posts when someone tries to necropost. Do they really have a wagie spending all day monitoring the forums and closing old threads, or do people report the necroposters manually?

Valves support probably gets automatically alerted to any forum post that get necroed. I wouldnt put it past them to have a one button process to lock the thread.

WTF? Since when do social media links open directly in the Steam client?

It better be automatic if the system works the way you theorize; otherwise that inbox must be full 24/7 considering Steam's size.

I walked away from sites like Facebook and twitter. And I haven’t looked back since. Allowing anyone and everyone to join a platform that can just tell the world their views/opinions just isn’t smart and leads to what we are watching unfold in our world.

So Valve is being sued for £656 millions ($897 millions) by the UK.

Representing 14 million gamers in the United Kingdom, a lawsuit seeking up to £656 million ($897 million) in damages has been given the go-ahead following a tribunal, despite Valve's protestations.
This lawsuit was first filed with the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London by digital rights campaigner Vicki Shotbolt in 2024, alleging that Valve discourages competition by locking publishers into what it calls "Platform Parity Obligations." These obligations reportedly prevent publishers from selling their games at more competitive price points on other platforms.
This, combined with the "unfair" cut Steam takes from transactions (which is up to 30%), allegedly leads to rising game prices overall, meaning a worse deal for British gamers as the increase in cost is passed along to the consumer. It compares the commission Valve charges to the 12% fees charged by Epic Games and Microsoft on their respective gaming storefronts - it's worth noting Epic only triggers its 12% cut after a game has made $1 million in revenue, and before that threshold, it takes zero commission.
As mentioned, the case has estimated that damages could be up to £656 million. The document published by the Tribunal today estimates that the average amount UK gamers have lost, based on the PCR's claims, is "in the region of £22 to £44" per person - that's approximately $30 to $60.

I hate that the UK is making me a bootlicking faggot.

1. Platform Parity Obligation only refers to key resellers, and even then it's flexible with allowing sale prices bundles, and all that. Valve is bring  extremely generous by allowing third parties to take a cut for fuck all of work.

2. Remind me again what Valve provides in ancillary services for that 30%? Multiplayer servers, forums, mod repository... I'm sure I'm missing a few things. But Epic and MS charge less because they do less.

Gee, I wonder who's funding this illustrious lawsuit...I would never dare to suggest their competition is coming together to represent "every gamer" (that they spit on the face of whenever they can) to take down a common enemy.

There is nothing more predictable than a bunch of cargo cultists* executives and CEOs being jealous that someone is making more money than them. Suddenly they give a shit about "muh injustices!"

*all concidentally jewish...

Nintendo, Sony, and Apple taking a 30% cut on proprietary storefronts that you’re required to use on their respective systems is fine, but Valve taking the same cut on an open platform where you have other options is monopolistic? Interesting.

Games are cheaper on Steam than Xbox and PSN....

Anyway, can anyone help me with a steam related issue?

I have a game (Magic:Duels) that was taken offline in 2019, though I can still play and access the game it is no longer available for download.
I want to install it on are lasses PC so we can play together. Is there anyway of taking the files from steam and installing them on her steam, or would account sharing allow us both to play together?

Thanks for the help.

Account sharing doesn’t let you play the same game at the same time on multiple PCs. You’re gonna have to find another copy elsewhere.

The problem is, it doesn't exist. You can't download it on any stores and it was only a digital game on Steam and Xbox. You can't even buy it anymore.

Is there a way to download the installer/files and force an install on another steam account?

I fucking hate it when companies remove access to games.
