Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Same with the flower, they all want you to destroy it. The microbe being the writer's choice really pissed me off when I played the game. What an absurd and mentally challenged way to end the entire quest line. I bet Emil the Redditor was happy with that one.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Honestly I'm remembering so much now that I meant to put into the post but it got too long. Constellation could and should have been an amoral "For Le Heckin' Science!" faction with no other political opinions, and that would've been far more enjoyable than the moralfagging we got.

As for the Creation Club/paid mods, I avoided them like the plague, even the semi-free one like the Tracker's Alliance.
I completely forgot I did the Tracker's Alliance extra missions, which should tell you how they were.

It's lifeless and sad for a studio that makes RPGs. Bethesda used to care about the NPCs, they had routines, jobs. In Starfield they just stay there, some might walk from point A to B but they won't interact with you. At least Bethesda toned down the fluoride stare, that shit was creepy at launch. Each main location (New Alantis, Akila City, etc.) is like an abandoned theme park and the animatronics are the only thing that remained on.
Yeeeeeah, I've gone back and forth on whether I like nameless NPCs populating cities. I think I don't. Beth managed to populate the Imperial City with only named NPCs 20 years ago, and New Atlantis is less detailed than that. I do weirdly miss NPC schedules, mostly for night burglary reasons. There's really no robbing NPCs anymore.

The rest of it sounds about right.

Speaking of Constellation, it's probably the worst faction (if you can call them a faction). What the fuck have they been doing all these years? Some random guy (you) shows up, says he found an artifact, then he goes all over the galaxy to pick up more artifacts and super powers, nobody objects to it, not even Black Science Man the only member who had the same vision. No drama, no antagonist. There also Vlad the black russian with a thick Russian accent who can detect the locations of the artifacts and the temples from the space station. They never explained how this works. The worst member is probably the black woman (I have forgotten her name), the fedora tipper of the group, always talking down at the religious guy.
Nobody seem to question Constellation, not even MAST. Everything in this game feel so superficial, by the numbers, with no logic.

There's really no robbing NPCs anymore.
You can't even take their clothes anymore, it's RNG-based.

Stealth is super weird and inconsistent. Yes, I am aware of suit weight affecting stealth. Even accounting for that. I've had times where I'm halfway across the map, 125% stealth rating, stationary, Chameleon on, enemy facing away, and they just turn around and start shooting.
Chameleon is just broken as hell. If you have chameleon on one piece of armor it does pretty much nothing. But if you have it on two or three pieces you're practically invisible, to the point where enemies can literally walk into you and not notice you.

Oh God, I just remembered something else with this. I found a temple about 50 feet from a small fuel depot (or something).

"Say Jim, while I was on a smoke break from all the construction, I found an ancient structure of no known design with gravity defying properties that gave me superpowers. You think we should tell somebody?"
"Nah Dave, probably not. Best we don't make waves."

I actually did not know Chameleon stacks in Starfield. That's interesting.

One of the funniest aspects of Starfield is that Bethesda actually bothered to write shitty lore reasons why you can't have anything cool and why the universe is gay and lame.

"The Freestar Collective and the Galactic Federation fought a brutal Civil War involving AI powered Mecha suits."

"Oh ok cool can I have an AI powered Gundam?"

"No sentient AIs and mech suits were banned after the war uhhhhh because reasons."
I had so many questions going through my mind based on that lore and the implications but the first thing that came to mind when hearing that mechs where outlawed was "it's a violation of galactic treaty"

You'd think Andreja, given her past, might be a bit more morally flexible, and she is... in the sense that she ends up cunting you out EITHER WAY.
I preferred Andreja the most out of available Constellation companions just because she was the most morally grey. Not by much of course, but enough that unlike Sarah she wasn't up in your shit for trampling on the grass. Both also happen to be infinitely preferable to cuckolded space Adam Jensen.

Some mods are fine I guess? Valiant is a good light touch skill overhaul that aims for balance and less annoying skill challenges. It won't blow you away like Ordinator did for Skyrim. Real Fuel is... eh. Made more sense before Freelanes. It was supposed to give you something to spend your money on, but now with X-Tech upgrades you have that. Astrolabe is indispensable for navigation. But it's not like Skyrim, where I could name TONS of cool stuff on Nexus or whatever.
There are some good ones making an attempt at improving the base systems. Desolation and Permanent POIs have the nice synergy of restricting procedural spawns to where they make sense and introducing new ones such that you'll rarely stumble across repeat dungeons through a normal playthrough. Royal Galaxy also makes for a decent overhaul (though IIRC it heavily overtuned terrormorphs), and PEAK Enemy AI was the best tweak for enemy behaviour. Amounts to polishing a turd in the end though since they're all still working with the same shit writing and half-baked universe.

I don't really care about 99% of people being un-interactable, that part is realistic, but the lack of names is retarded and lazy. I'm playing KCD1 again with a mod that gives everybody a name instead of generic 'villager' and whatnot, and it adds enough to the game that it's a no-brainer to do that thing officially.

But hey, why do yourself what a modder could in an afternoon?

Lmao I just came across this kid in the flats on Cydonia who tells me his mum is sad since his dad died and if I can cheer her up.

I go up to her and one of the options is just dumping 20K credits into her lap on the spot. These quests are so ridiculous.

I like the spider aliens with cage fungi abdomens. Those are cool. Then I went to Neon and saw all the shitty posters of dragons on the walls and Tumblr-esc doodles slapped on the sides of buildings. Yes, a billion credit conglomerate like Ryujin would have this decorating their offices:

all of the constellation members bitch at you if you ventilate someone even if it's on a random procgen place, as in, you kill a civilian, they bitch.

There's a guy in Oblivion in the Imperial City who's cheating on his wife.

Some days of the week he works in his shop during the day and sleeps with his wife at night but on some days you can literally follow him as he locks up his shop, leaves the Imperial city, and travels to Bruma to be with this other women.

Compare this to Starfield's npcs that don't move at all and just sit there giving you the fluoride stare.

Oblivion was made 21 years ago for a console that's practically a toaster compared to the PS5.

Radiant AI at its finest.

They have forgotten how to make games, somehow.

Yeah but Starfield has even more procedurally generated dungeons than Oblivion. Checkmate, Todd haters.

Literally every AAA studio is an empty shell of its former self. All the old talent is gone, the new devs are a bunch of indoctrinated art majors, teams are too big and spread out to work efficiently and the corporate suits are greedier than ever before. The bangers from the 7th gen era could never be created in such an environment.

Good AAA games might as well be a lost technology now.

The fact they removed the gore that has been a stable since Fallout three was ridiculous. It reeks with HR (women) removing fun from the game cause it might hurt someone's feelings.
Fallout 4 is more gorish than 3 & NV IMO.
Even Skyrim had decapitations.
And Starfield doesn't? Yeah, crap.

There are knives and swords and yet no dismemberment.

The game is rated M and yet there's barely any blood. It's so safe and sterile.
