It looks 25% different. 7ofQuips, borg cube with blue lights, weird prosthetics...
There are way too many young people in that trailer, with all that makeup and bad prosthetics, it's like a fanfilm.
Well, I was wrong about the Q angle being the setup. This looks over produced and an extention of' Star Trek Discovery'....

I guess any hope for at least an attempt for some smart, insightful, soft sci-fi morality plays went out the window...

I wonder if the dog will fart at some point? Dog flatulence is instant comedy....

Hard Fucking Pass....

Either way, I'm waiting for the Red Letter Media 30 second stab at the trailer.

Pretty much the only saving grace of this thing....

Unless I am missing something these are just TNG-style uniforms. The confusion comes in when the rights split required the films and TV shows to be "substantially different" so they were changed for legal rather than artistic reasons.

They're vaguely TNG like, but they shouldn't be. If this is set post Voyager, they should have the movie/late DS9 uniforms:

The ones in Lower Deck look more like a hybrid of the STO duty and dress uniforms, but with the TNG/TOS era color scheme:

It looks like the 3rd season of The Orville won't air on FOX. The show will be only on Hulu. No date yet but they're aiming for fall 2020. According to Seth, the show has become quite big and he doesn't feel like they can deliver a season in a short amount of time.

The STD shills are smug.

Fuck that Picard trailer for bring back Seven and making me interested. God damn it.

EDIT: To make it clear, I'm not interested because I have ANY hope that it will be good. I'm just wondering how on earth they are gonna rope these other Star Treks into this.

I see starfleet has changed their uniforms once again. I wonder what the in-universe rational for the constant flip flopping between having red/yellow/blue as primary colors or secondary elements is?

Starfleet having several different uniforms for the same purpose in service at the same time, and replacing them all with more awkward looking and uncomfortable new ones every few years for no apparent reason, is the single most realistic aspect of the setting.

Star Trek: Lower Decks
Lower Decks takes place after Nemesis and VOY. It's an half hour show focused on 4 ensigns serving on a random ship in Starfleet.

Short Treks
There will be 6 Short Treks exclusively on CBSAllAccess this fall. 2 will be animated, 3 will feature the Enterprise crew (Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn are back as Pike, Spock and Number One) and one will serve as a teaser for Star Trek: Picard.

Random bullshit from Kurtzman (taken from the official Star Trek twitter account):
Oh great, just what the IP always needed. CalArts.
*sigh*

Data, Riker, and Deanna Troi are back as well they confirmed. Needs a Geordi La Forge cameo too.

Riker and Troi are back too, but it wasn't shown in the trailer.

Fuuuuck. I really hate the fact that this show is all about Picard protecting a Michael Burnham type character. TNG was my fucking jam growing up, and if they ruin this I'm going to be super pissed.

What are people's thoughts on the episodes of TOS getting remastered? Do you like the updated special effects or do they remind you too much of what Lucas did with the OT?

So the girl is a Data/B4/Borg hybrid like the Borg Queen was trying to make in First Contact and she has some of Data's memories which is why she feels safe with Picard?

You mean the stuff they did years back? It was fine. It was relegated to mostly external ship shots, color revamp, and minor fixes to certain aliens(like the Horta).

Unless they did another revamp, recently, I wasn't aware of..

Its not super jarring like Star Wars S.E. But, its obvious that the enterprise and certain shots are CGI...

Yeah unless there's some other one that I don't know about it's a very tasteful update of the effects. iirc they tossed in a bit of continuity with Spock's Brain where the ship was redone to look like a similarly powered craft from TAS instead of "generic light orb".

It's an overall visual improvement that does its best to maintain the creative intent of the original low budget effects, though with some of the shots of the ship exterior or planets viewed from space, the replacement CGI itself is showing its mid-2000s age. Supposedly for the remaster, they made a high definition 3D render of the Enterprise for use in the exterior ship scenes, exactly based on the original miniature model preserved at the Smithsonian, but what passes for mid-2000s HD looks kind of bad today.

But for everything else, the replacement/remastered effects and shots don't have any of the "poorly aged CGI" feeling.

I knew about the other TNG characters, but I didn't know they were bringing in other series. This messes with my head. Did B'Elanna just go from this

?

The STD virus is spreading to more and more shows. My guess is there will be no Klingon in sight in Picard, because they don't want to deal with it.

The Picard show looks like STD with better cameos, Michael Burnham 2.0 and all. It's most likely going to be shit but I'll watch the first few episodes with an open mind. But really, if the movies couldn't ruin TNG, this won't either.

At least NOW the super high-tech stuff fits the series since it's not a prequel.

(Are those 25% different ships supposed to be Peregrine or Maquis fighters?)
