Never forget Harry was going to be written off the show until his actor showed up in some most beautiful people list.
Wait what? Is that really true, no wonder they never did anything with this character, he was just eyecandy and they never intended for him to be anything more.

It gets better.
In A Vision of the Future - Star Trek: Voyager, Stephen Edward Poe states that in 1997, when producers were ironing out the details of the introduction of Seven of Nine, they had already lined up Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) to take the bullet and leave in order to free up enough budget for a new main actor. Then that year, Wang was chosen by People Magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World." Suddenly Wang was in, and Lien was out.

Oh god... this is amazing.
I feel sorry for Jennifer Lien, but this is way too funny.
Also I feel kind of sad, Kes was cute

Wang had strong criticisms of Voyager co-creator and executive producer Rick Berman. During a chat with the website GeeksOn.com, Wang claimed Berman had visited the set of Star Trek: Voyager only twice in seven years, called him "an idiot" and made the claim that "if there is a hell in this existence that we have that people can go to, he's first on the list." [2] Wang was also the first Star Trek actor to be denied a chance to direct the show. [3]

Based Harry Kim

I'd be remiss if I didn't post this here considering recent topics:

tl;dr: Star Trek Voyager is (in part) the reason Obama was elected.

I liked the one where Harry fucked that alien lady and got an STD.
And then got publicly humiliated for it by Janeway and had a formal reprimand for "sexual offences" be added to his permanent record despite literally every other main character in the series including Janeway having fucked random aliens before without any objection from anybody

Harry's perpetual misery and torment was one of the most fundamental pillars of the enjoyable Voyager viewing experience

Janeway should have been dragged before a courts-martial since by chasing the maquis (in the hope she could dom torture Chakotay) it's her fault they ended up in the Delta quadrant and pissed off a bunch of aliens like Species 8472 and the Borg queen. At least Chakotay dumped her for a Borg drone that must have really stuck in her craw

I don't know who that is
One of the best novelists working today, meaning that it's probably going to be another 4-5 years before his next book. He wrote Wonder Boys, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (inspired by the creation of Superman), and The Yiddish Policeman's Union. On the surface this seems amazing, but there always seems to be an enormous letdown waiting in the shadows whenever this much talent gets together

Chasing them was okay. Those were her orders. She could have set a fucking timer on a fucking photon torpedo and got back home in one episode

Also she basically took a big steaming turd and smeared it all over the prime directive all the while yelling at everyone else about how they did the exact same thing even when they really didn't

The ride never ends
While there will always be a vocal minority filled with trolls and haters who balk at the idea of diversity in Hollywood, it’s quite clear that the industry is placing a focus on inclusion and acceptance, whether it be in movies, on the small screen, or even in video games. While Gene Roddenberry’s enduring sci-fi franchise has always been at the forefront of change – the famous kiss between Kirk and Uhura is proof enough– it looks like Star Trek: Discovery is looking to round out its cast of diverse characters.
As reported by Discussing Film, it seems CBS is searching for a non-binary character for the show’s upcoming third season. There aren’t many details to go off of, but it sounds like this individual will be named AIDRA (we’re not sure if the all caps is a typo, or deliberate), and is said to be very intelligent and self-confident.
