I'd admit, Metalheads who watch anime and only read manga and start talking shit about rap music and people who act normal and are into competitive gaming and bitch about "DA PREPZ!"need to realize they're on the same fucking level as those annoyances.
Ahahahahhahahahahahahahaha...
... It terrifies me how many of those boxes I can tick as accurate for me.
I'm personally not very good at sports. I kinda ended up faffing about mostly with video games and thus while I'm not "fat," my body is probably more along the lines of what you would think of when you think of the scrawny nerdy gamers that wear pocket protectors and care way too much about some video game about a blue hedgehog or some shit. I can't throw a ball worth a shit and I'm fairly weak overall. (I can at least run a long distance though - kinda regret never getting into Track & Field and Cross Country tbh but enough powerleveling.) One of the things I wanna get around to doing is actually setting up a routine at the gym and trying to be more than a human stick because it's honestly rather embarrassing when I consider how many of my classmates can probably plow me into the dirt by blowing on me.
That being said, people who say that sports are "neanderthal" activities are both:
1) Idiots.
2) The reason why normal people still laugh at "competitive gaming" when people try to refer to it as a sport of any kind.
Becoming adept at any type of activity, whether it be something like football or League of Legends, requires both talent, conditioning, intelligence, and skill that the normal person can't just simply pick up and become "amazing" at unless you're some kind of godgiven prodigy. The average person can't take up a position as a quarterback and immediately call out a play that doesn't immediately end with him being the center of a Nine Person Pileup. Similarly, the average person can't take the top position in a high elo League of Legends match and not read the conditions well enough to immediately end up being the center of a Four Person Pileup. If you tried to tell a golfer that the whole concept of "Golf" was "hit the ball until it gets into the hole," the guy would either be extremely offended or would laugh his ass off at how you trivialize his career. If you tried to tell a League adc that the whole concept of "adc" was "right click guy until dead," he would similarly be extremely offended or would laugh his ass off at how you trivialize his career.
Sorry about the League sperging but I'm a League sperg.
You could argue that traditional sports still have their place due to the type of physical conditioning that is required that most people can't replicate (and I won't disagree with you on that - those guys do a fucking lot to be as fit as they are and you can't disrespect that shit at all), but to trivialize any sort of activity opens yourself and your own hobbies and activities to the same type of simplification. Either accept that nothing is
that simple at the highest level and that you're just mad that we, as a society, still think that football players are fucking hot and sexy and that we all want to have sex with them over a bunch of people obsessing over video games (and... I can't argue with that really), or be ready to get called a fucking idiot and laughed at, because you sound like a fucking idiot that's mad that he didn't throw the ball well enough for girls to strip their clothes and fuck them.
