Was he bullied in high school or something?

Apparently jocks in high school bullied him. He mentioned it in a thread, but I don't remember the name. Back in those days, they must have been brutal.

Still doesn't explain his hatred for Religion and Republicans. Bad experiences? Extreme hippie? Walter Kronkite? Who knows.

The man also has a passion for astrology.

>hatred of religion

Worst atheist ever, 0/10.

Funny how it never occurs to these people that physical activity helps to boost cognitive function, and team sports massively improve collaborative abilities. Of course, there's a high chance they'd lose their edgelord credentials if they took anything other than the contrarian stance.

Ahh another gang of tards who think that liking anything other than anime, online gaming and atheism make you a neanderthal. Because god forbid people like what they don't like, that might mean *le gasp* that they're not perfect!!
Fuck these guys, COYI.

I'd admit, Metalheads who watch anime and only read manga and start talking shit about rap music and people who act normal and are into competitive gaming and bitch about "DA PREPZ!"need to realize they're on the same fucking level as those annoyances.

Haha very true especially since I used to be one of those metalheads, the kinda kid who'd say "It's not that I'm at fault, its that the rest of the world are sheep", thankfully outgrown THAT bullshit but I can see some of these sport haters growing into it sadly.

LOL nerds. What a bunch of wack ass losers.

Especially sad if you're out of high school. Just the biggest nerds.

Man must suck sticking with the emo look in 2015. No wonder he can't get past high school.

My interest in athletics is pretty much weightlifting, fighting sports, and marksmanship (if that even counts), which aren't necessarily team activities, but that's just me. While I don't think playing sports should be a requirement for graduation or anything, and in fact I rather dislike society's obsession with sports in general, I think the guys on this site go too far with their HURR DURR NUKE ALL PEOPLE WHO PLAY AND WATCH SPORTS FOR BEING BRAIN DEAD JOCKS WHO STEAL OUR GIRLS AND HAVE RETARDED FANS GRRRRR kind of attitude.

While I feel that sports in general have absolutely no academic value whatsoever, this whole HURR DURR KILL JOCKS BECAUSE THEY IS RETARDED thing is a bridge too far even for me. Considering my own background, I can see where they're coming from, but they simply haven't progressed beyond high school, mentally. It's like they're still fighting the Cold War.

There is evidence that sport and other non-academic school sponsored programs contribute to academic success in college. I'm trying to find a link, but Columbia College did a study that showed the odds of a student attending college is 97 percent higher among those that participate in non-academic school sponsored programs. That's not strictly sports, but it includes sports. They also show the college grads who participate in non-academics also demonstrate more success after college.

I'm not a sports guy at all, but disparaging people for liking or participating in sports is just plain 'ole dumb.

Another thing that separates me from the SportsSuck.org crew is that I'm willing to hear out an opponent's argument. Even in the face of evidence that contradicts their claims about sports, ie a study showing that those who played in high school are more likely to attend college, they'll probably just say HURR DURR THEY ONLY GOT IN ON A SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP AND THE COLLEGE LETS THEM GET AWAY WITH NOT DOING ANY SCHOOLWORK BECAUSE IT NEEDS THEM TO PLAY SPORTS FOR THEM

Seriously, though, I have nothing against them existing in school, or even society as a whole, but I feel it should be treated as an elective, like art/ceramics or multimedia/photography, not a requirement for graduation.

Because, in the end, we should be preparing kids to get jobs by teaching them useful skills that they will need, not shitting on them for not wanting to toss a fucking ball around. The average American high school doesn't teach us shit, but that's a different discussion for a different day.

Ahahahahhahahahahahahahaha...

... It terrifies me how many of those boxes I can tick as accurate for me.

I'm personally not very good at sports. I kinda ended up faffing about mostly with video games and thus while I'm not "fat," my body is probably more along the lines of what you would think of when you think of the scrawny nerdy gamers that wear pocket protectors and care way too much about some video game about a blue hedgehog or some shit. I can't throw a ball worth a shit and I'm fairly weak overall. (I can at least run a long distance though - kinda regret never getting into Track & Field and Cross Country tbh but enough powerleveling.) One of the things I wanna get around to doing is actually setting up a routine at the gym and trying to be more than a human stick because it's honestly rather embarrassing when I consider how many of my classmates can probably plow me into the dirt by blowing on me.

That being said, people who say that sports are "neanderthal" activities are both:

1) Idiots.
2) The reason why normal people still laugh at "competitive gaming" when people try to refer to it as a sport of any kind.

Becoming adept at any type of activity, whether it be something like football or League of Legends, requires both talent, conditioning, intelligence, and skill that the normal person can't just simply pick up and become "amazing" at unless you're some kind of godgiven prodigy. The average person can't take up a position as a quarterback and immediately call out a play that doesn't immediately end with him being the center of a Nine Person Pileup. Similarly, the average person can't take the top position in a high elo League of Legends match and not read the conditions well enough to immediately end up being the center of a Four Person Pileup. If you tried to tell a golfer that the whole concept of "Golf" was "hit the ball until it gets into the hole," the guy would either be extremely offended or would laugh his ass off at how you trivialize his career. If you tried to tell a League adc that the whole concept of "adc" was "right click guy until dead," he would similarly be extremely offended or would laugh his ass off at how you trivialize his career.

Sorry about the League sperging but I'm a League sperg.

You could argue that traditional sports still have their place due to the type of physical conditioning that is required that most people can't replicate (and I won't disagree with you on that - those guys do a fucking lot to be as fit as they are and you can't disrespect that shit at all), but to trivialize any sort of activity opens yourself and your own hobbies and activities to the same type of simplification. Either accept that nothing is that simple at the highest level and that you're just mad that we, as a society, still think that football players are fucking hot and sexy and that we all want to have sex with them over a bunch of people obsessing over video games (and... I can't argue with that really), or be ready to get called a fucking idiot and laughed at, because you sound like a fucking idiot that's mad that he didn't throw the ball well enough for girls to strip their clothes and fuck them.

Why does it always have to be an all or nothing scenario with these guys? I fucking love nerdy shit like MMOs, webcomics, and fantasy novels but I'm also a huge football fan and I like playing basketball.

Because they were made fun of at one point in high school for not being athletic because high school kids are uneducated jerks...and they haven't grown out of that mindset.

I genuinely can't tell if this is a troll post or some guy with a complete lack of self-reflection cause of the irony in his post.

Every post is like this though. There are genuine issues with organized sports, especially at the professional level: such as colleges spending money/focusing on them to the exclusion of other sports or of academics, or controversial new stadiums being built that force people out of their homes. Ticket prices and security policies at stadiums, not to mention the number of scandals that it seems like professional athletes go through every week. Those are all legitimate complaints about sports and the world of it, but there's none of that here. Just childish, petulant, "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE" tantrums.

I agree. I also don't know how common it is that it's a requirement. When I went to HS, back in the 90's, it was not required. You had to either do PT, sports, art or music. and that was during the school day.
