Campy and over the top cheesy villainy is a lot more fun than Magneto wangsting about the holocaust for six gorrilionth time or the endless parade of universe threatening grimderp event villains. When I want serious, I read a novel or watch a film.

This, ham is good.

It’s why I love guys like Annihlus, a paranoid bug king with a control rod who speaks in all caps. Any of the OG F4 villains really, Kang, Doom, Galactus, Psycho Man, High Evolutionary and Mole Man. All of them are hammy, fun and dumb as all hell.

Comics are supposed to be fun,

Finished Madwoman of the Sacred Heart yesterday before sleeping. It is by Jodorowsky and Moebius.

It literally felt like it was a thread on kiwifarms being adapted to comics, literally madness, I don't even think there was a point to it all since it was done by Jodorowsky, I could accept the whole faith element, but the final pages pulled a bullshit magic mumbo jumbo that I think it weakens the story, It could all have been an element of fucking psychos and crazy people.

The lesson is: do not fuck crazy people neither interact with them, and fucking hell do not have babies with them too.

I was already finding S4 to be a chore to get through the first 3 episodes, stuff like this really makes me want to outright drop it. I believe I read this on a KF thread but it's spot on, so props to whoever pointed out:
There is so much good media out there, contemporary and old, and so much to do with our time I've started dropping anything just leaves me bored or turned off.

Geoff Johns also did Stargirl TV show which has some of S1 and S2 Young Justice's charm in the way it has deep villains and actual competency on all sides. I love that show both for the cast but also because you almost never see plot-induced-stupidity in the characters. The heroes are pro-active in rooting out evil, the villains are competent in preparing for it. Nobody is sitting around waiting for the DM to introduce the next plot point which is how most superhero TV shows feel.

EDIT: Anyone reading the third phase of the Batman: White Knight series? I recently read the first two collected volumes and just read the first issue of the third phase, which seems to be a take on Batman: Beyond. It's interesting.

Seriously - find an artist and make one.
Not to PL but it's actually something I've thought about a lot because any half-decent writer could do better than 99% of the so-called talent, but I lack money and no good artist would work for "a share of the profits". Especially considering there's not much profits if you don't toe the woke company line that even Image insists on. When I get enough cash to hire an artist for 6-12 issues I'll probably go for it and try to make my costs back via crowdfunding.

Something I've learned is once you make a name as a creator of something, people keep giving you chances. Not to mention the allure of owning a fresh IP that can be exploited for a cartoon, videogame, figurines, etc. We could all learn a little something from Mark Millar.

Do it. I've thought about it myself though I don't know how I'd go about distribution and publicity. The most public presence I have is this account on Kiwi Farms. And linking my real identity with that might be... dangerous. (Or not - am sure many would agree with the things I say here! :) )

I was watching a BTNA review and they start talking about the change in character designs, and the beady eye joker which everyone hates. I got curious and went back in the Adventure Continues and as far as I can tell, it is the single design that got changed into the BTAS design, all the rest uses the BTNA designs.

I guess it is because it is way more expressive. Also the Batman grey suit > blue suit from BTAS

>Meet Clark Kent, a young reporter who just learned that the world will soon come to an end (Crisis on Infinite Earths) and there is nothing he can do to save it. Sounds like a job for his alter ego...Superman! Superman: Space Age from critically acclaimed writer Mark Russell (One-Star Squadron and The Flintstones) and Eisner-winner artist Mike Allred (Silver Surfer and Bowie: Stardust, Rayguns & Moonage Daydreams) will be available in comic shops on July 26, 2022.

>"This is a dream project for me,” said Mark Russell. “Not only because I get to work with a genius like Mike Allred, but because I've always found Superman such a philosophically fascinating character, one which forces us to ask how different would the world be if we chose to be our best selves?"

>After years of standing idle, the young man from Krypton defies the wishes of his fathers to come out to the world as the first superhero of the Space Age. As each decade passes and each new danger emerges, he wonders if this is the one that will kill him and everyone he loves. Superman realizes that even good intentions are not without their backlash as the world around him transforms into a place as determined to destroy itself as he is to save it.

>"SUPER pumped to finally reveal what we've been working on in secret for so long,” said Mike Allred. “Easily my biggest project for DC yet. Working with Mark Russel and his brilliant script has been a blast! Packed with head-spinning iconography, top tier characters, twists, thrills, and chills, resulting in a powerful instant classic epic! It's been simultaneously intimidating and inspiring to meet the challenge of illustrating this phenomenal project!
>Uniting the critically acclaimed writer Mark Russell and Eisner-winner Mike Allred for the first time, this series promises fans an unforgettable journey through U.S. history and culture starring our beloved characters.

>The first of three issues will be available at local comic book stores on July 26, with a new issue coming out every two months. SUPERMAN: SPACE AGE #1 features a main cover by Mike Allred, open to order variant cover by Steve Rude, a 1:25 variant cover by Nick Derington and a 1:50 variant cover by Mike Allred.

I will read since it is a mini, but I fucking hate allred, I tolerate him on batman 66 since it is the vibe of the story, but I never liked him and think he is stiff as fuck.

Also, pre crisis superman > post crisis superman

They are forever chasing Red Son and All-Star, the two greatest Superman minis of all time.

I’ll check this out because I like Superman shit, reading it (the good stuff) really takes your mind off how bad everything is.

Modern DC for the most part haven’t been fucking with him too bad (in comparison to Bats and Wondy) but they went for his son to get their token.

Though poor Clark did get bumfucked in Red and Blue………

The triangle era of Post-Crisis Superman is one of the best comic sagas ever (well, more specifically the tail end of Byrne's Superman run up until the Fall of Metropolis). The only sagas I like more are the first thirty years of Spider-Man and James Robinson's Starman.

Because DC felt they needed a black superhero in the Justice League. Reading those comics, Cyborg is so out of place among the rest and it's clear that they have no ideas for the character beyond "he's the black guy of the team" for their marketing.

As for Suicide Squad, this is the second time people are having a major chimpout over a summer blockbuster this year. The question is if WB will go the Sony route of trying to drum up some controversy with gender/identity politics. As we saw with the Ghostbusters film, it might help with the first week but a shitty movie is still going to be a shitty movie.
You could of have added Jon Stewart Green Lantern or Mr Terrific or have Martian Manhunter but make his human form Black....

I just remembered that Blue Marvel exists due to someone bringing up Black Superman. Marvel has been trying to subtly push him for years and it's just such a blatant Mary Sue OC. He's literally a black writers Superman/ Mr. Fantastic wish fulfillment character right down to fucking Sue Storm. But get this, in the 1960's JFK asked him to retire because the public couldn't handle it. So he fucking mopes in retirement for something like 50 fucking years before Luke Cage or someone starts fellating him. He's also a war hero despite opposing war.

He's got a bargin bin Magneto costume and he literally debuted the year Obama was running. He's just so fucking hilarious boring and extraneous. Moon Girl could be fun if she was a prodigy who wants to get noticed by her heroes and even more if Reed gives her the time of day to show her inventions while Valeria is a cunt. This guy just seems way too much of "WE NEED A BLACK SMART MAN OTHER THAN BLACK PANTHER."

I've recently completed my collection of Hellblazer (Volume 3 disappeared for a while) and I'm finally getting to read all of those old stories I missed.

I've been enjoying them thoroughly all the way through but I'm amazed by the art of Sean Phillips, specifically the shading and colour palette; it captures the lighting of a low summer sunset in a Northern industrial town perfectly. He picks a handful of colours per page, combined with flat black negative space, and creates this amazing ambiance with it.

I wish they would do more with the Gods and Monsters timeline. Hernan was one of my favorite supermes. I miss that mexican madman like you wouldn't believe it.

I still get a laugh when he calls Buzzfeed Lois Lane a bitch, Hernan is easily my favourite non-Clark Superman.

He was a dick, but he had heart. Sadly those moments are in the animated shorts/the tie-in comic and not in the film itself.

The funny thing is that 99% of the people who voiced or did a live-action portrayal of J'onn have been Black men, so making his main "human" form as African American would work.

Still better than Bendis' pet project "Naomi"

JLU and Dwayne McDuffie made John Stewart radioactive with fandom and Geoff Johns is a big Hal Jordan supporter so he made Cyborg the token black JLA guy.

He was helped because a LOT of people in Hollywood have shitted on Martian Manhunter, in terms of him being hated because "he was a nobody". So getting rid of him was a bit easy.
