Well, that means that he should realize to stop, but I don't see a reason for a ban really. I don't know what kind of person would watch him anyway, but I don't see a reason to take his freedom to do his autistic shit.
I dunno, embarrassing a charity event like that is pretty big.

I would understand if he was warned before that and banned from the event, but completely banned from twitch? I dunno. It's quite a jump if you ask me.

The Twitch ban was hundreds of triggered retards on Twitter and elsewhere who flooded his channel. The dozens of Twitch staff in GDQ's chat just upheld what the angry mob wanted.

The kid's just a random autistic fag who couldn't censor himself (no more, no less) so I can understand GDQ cutting him loose without a second thought when there's hundreds of other applicants to choose from.

Yeah, I understand that. I'm not defending this guy, but still. I just find it weird. Of course they have right to do whatever they want with their event, but I don't know. Something doesn't sit right with me. I don't have anything logical nor the knowledge of streaming/running event this big place to stand my opinion on. It's just a feeling, you know? Just trying to see this from both sides.

It's still a fun event to have on in the background, but I personally only donate during SGDQ when the money goes to MSF.

I feel the same way considering PCF only operates in the USA, and furthermore only a fraction of their funding goes to actual cancer research in the form of grants; the brunt of the funding is going towards awareness programs.. The president of the foundation is making ~$276,000 a year with two other VPs making ~$194,000 and ~$116,000 respectively and yet they have a ton of unpaid volunteer directors (source). They are literally becoming millionaires off of their charity, so they don't scream honourable philanthropists to me.

MSF on the other hand are basically neutral good humanitarians.

My only issue with the way things turned out was that people at GDQ actually let this guy continue with his run despite the fact that he was clearly terrible to watch. Would have saved both the autist and I think them a lot of trouble if they booted him earlier on.
Guy seems like a huge asshole so I can't feel sorry for him in any way. Faggot OPENLY ACKNOWLEDGED how loud he was AND how obnoxious, but he didn't think to stop at all.

Last year, a GDQ staffer posted a thread on SDA discussing concerns about PCF and whether they'd continue to be the beneficiary for AGDQ. The long and the short of it is that during the planning for AGDQ 2017 they scoped out other charities (including a small, reputable NGO focused on access to clean water) but it fell through because none of their candidates could afford to sponsor the event. So instead they negotiated with PCF, who (to their credit) heard them out and hashed out an agreement to reroute more of their 2017 budget towards cancer research and international efforts.

I'm not keen on the details but at least it's proof GDQ's leadership know PCF is scared shitless of losing them and that they can switch charities as long as their expenses can be covered. GDQ LLC is being incorporated as a 501(c) non-profit and while I don't think their expenses are public record yet this pastebin from 2015 claims to explain AGDQ's finances. In short, the event costs almost $300,000 (likely higher now): PCF provides a $200,000+ allowance strictly to pay staff salaries and venue costs and the remaining expenses are covered by sponsorships, merchandise, attendance fees, ad revenue and Twitch subs. Any profit goes to GDQ to pay for SGDQ's staffing costs because MSF doesn't.

E: Misread some of that pastebin. Clarified.

I'm hyped for the Shadows of the Empire run. That game was part of my childhood, so it'll be fun to see it get broken to bits!

Since this seems to be the only speedrunning thread we have active, allow me to mention RPG Limit Break before AGDQ starts. It's a small marathon run by a lot of folks from GDQ (puwexil, spikevegeta, kirbymastah, essentia) that specializes in running RPGs (duh). Since the community is rather small and GDQ is a sponge for assholes, shills and drama whores, it still has the same genuine atmosphere the other marathons had in the earlier runs. So if you're a sperg like me and like having an 8 hour "speed"run of Suikoden on in the background, check out the VODs (next marathon is in May). The channel also hosts VODs of other RPG speedrunning events, such as series relays for Final Fantasy or Secret of Mana.

Another alternative is European Speedster Assembly, which is basically AGDQ 2013 with more accents. Next marathon is in July. Recommended: Noobest's Dark Souls run, which turns into a really funny clusterfuck, featuring uncensored donation comments. Could not have happened like that at a GDQ.

Don't care about this but apparently cause of Bonesaw577 getting banned for saying fuck three times (Prevent Cancer Foundation wanting the Speedruns to be kid friendly) he's banned from this year's thing and so there's a whole Ethics about Gaming Donations thing going on cause of it. It caused a split, and now people are looking into where the donations go and some of it goes to line the pockets of one of the founders and the guy who runs AGDQ since about 2013 and no one has seen since he started getting paid.

I was told all of this by someone and just felt like randomly saying it.

Bonesaw577's video is still up on their Youtube and they make AD money off of it despite banning him, so it looks to some people that these guys just care about getting the most money they can get, ban someone to please charities and get donations and keep their videos on Youtube for the AD money.

There have been a few individuals banned (silently or not) from running for being too much of a liability IIRC. It is a charity event and there is a reason based "fucking niggers" werster isn't running anymore. PCF and MSF don't want that.

Stream should start in about 4 hours.

I heard little about this, but I like the idea of a charitable gaming stream were they try to do a speedrun. I'm quite disappointed about the way they invest their money more on themselves and the sour community itself.

one of the guys on the couch during the ape escape 2 run got banned for apparently wearing a MAGA hat

Am I supposed to feel really uncomfortable watching this? It's like watching a 24/7 livestream of socially stunted gamers.

I can't handle it.
