So, uh, confession time - I kinda pal'ed around with some of the original Newgrounds Barney Bunch back in the day. I actually kept making flash "animations" in the "secret missing episode of (insert thing here)" style long after they were gone from Newgrounds. I was never part of whatever "community" one could say they had - I just did stuff alongside them (and occasionally collaborating with them) because I wanted to and because I could.

The fact that I had no artistic talent and Speakonia/image tweens was the height of my ability had something to do with it, too.

Was it retarded? You bet your ass it was. But it amused me and I have no regrets.
