What could've been...

Apparently LeBron was planned since its inception so no.

Though if we are doing a trashfire of a film like this, I'd probably prefer something like the shitpost that is Golf Jam, where Tiger Woods must win a tournament with the characters from DiC Entertainment. Why even try when making something this brain dead and poorly thought out?

You mean the Kobe timeline Space Jam that was never gonna happen?
I was talking about these two:

Anyway, this all seems really poorly thought out. Especially since at the end of the day what we've seen so far of the Basketball moves just aren't that zany or entertaining when compared to 2D. Also its really starting to hit that all these IPs being there really add nothing other than nostalgia wank. Its starting to make the fake /tv/ leaks seem like the better idea or just have had this shit take place in a basic WB cartoon world. On the bright side, there's some seething over the lack of Steven Universe and Adventure Time crap in the movie.

JFK is a WB movie, does that mean Lee Harvey Oswald will be in the movie with JFK's shot up body?
Hitler is in a lot of WB stuff. If the Clockwork Orange assholes are allowed to run free then it stands to reason the Gestapo can't be too far behind.

So I had to sit through the trailer As an ad on youtube and I gotta say yeah what everyone's saying about this is true. The original space jam didn't try and explain why the looney tunes and aliens exist in the same universe and the whole "server verse " they're using for this one plus the planets of pop culture just feel like Warner wishes they had all the rights to rpo (which is partly owned by legendary and amblin) to make money off it. Even though Ernest Kline has written a ready player two I doubt it'll be a while before that move on adapting it since they'd have to change so much to line up with the film version.

The 2D animation looks nice but like with Sponge out of water it feels like it was wasted for maybe a few minutes to give the 2D animators work and show off the animation for hob max.

The 3D animation is OK but it feels it's just there so it can blend in with all the live action.

All in all as Mr burns once said "too cold and sterile, where's the heart? " It looks like this soulless too little too late cash grab will only be worth watching on watchcartoon rather than hbo max.

Also love how the first thing in the trailer we see is a Nintendo switch, it really is the cheery on the coonsoomer cake

I can't wait for the next excuses they'll give for including characters from A Clockwork Orange but not Pepe Le Pew in Space Jam 2.

I don't know what's worse getting ads for this or hbo Max's exterminate the brutes documentary. Aka... Reeee! white man bad! q annon and proud boys are litteraly the imperialists who slaughtered the kangs of Africa and the poor Red people!

Seriously I'm half tempted to start a thread on that documentary

I'm sure this question has been asked, but who is this film for? What child in 2021 (or whenever this movie is coming out) has seen Space Jam or even cares about Looney Tunes? Why reference films like The Mask, A Clockwork Orange, different versions of The Penguin, and other films/characters that kids today won't recognize?

This film is completely out of left field, and I believe it will not make any money. I can't wait to watch the reaction to this Hindenberg of a film!

Also, #RestoreTheSnyderVerse because it'll make WB more butthurt.

I'm starting to wonder if all those Pooh's Adventures autists invaded Hollywood.

Edit: Just noticed T-posing Space Ghost hovering above King Kong in the preview. Jesus Christ this movie.

You know what movie handled the live action animation hybrid with multiple properties well?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

This movie reeks of cashing in on nostalgia with product placement.

Roger Rabbit was also made in a time when reruns were highly abundant for cost effectiveness, so even children were still very familiar with what their parents enjoyed during their childhood, such as Merrie Melodies/Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera, Three Stooges or even Beverly Hillbillies among many others, but in this day and age where reruns are looked down upon for risk of "offensive content" or "dated elements" to the point where they can only be watched via streaming, kids won't know over half of the shit in Space Jam 2. I mean the Maltese Falcon is a fantastic film but no kid, and maybe even yoomers/millennials and younger xoomers won't have any idea wtf the planet for it even represents sadly. At the end of the day, this is just a 2 hour ad for HBO Max, when really if WB and other companies wanted to sell nostalgia to kiddies, maybe they should've made a more active attempt to make these old media elements air more regularly these past two decades and not keep them excluded in expensive cable plans/channels with zero advertisement.

I feel Roger Rabbit was created with the 20th century movie mindset in mind. It's obviously not made with children in mind. Merrie Melodies/Looney Tunes were created with theaters in mind; they would be intermissions before the actual films.

Some say they saw Dumbledore in the crowd. If they have him make out with Gandalf I might as well just eat led now and get it over with.
Yup, Dumbledoor is in the crowd during the not-Kobe-3PO bit (direct screenshot from trailer below, since photoshopped screenshots are becoming something of a meme now):
