From what I can tell, it looks like the Herculoids, Batman Forever's Batman, Adam West Batman's Robin, Catwoman, the Penguin and his thugs, Jack Nicholson's Joker (at least they got the best one...), and the gang from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Some random knights too and some white tall guy with a big staff.

Tim Burton's Penguin too is there alongside Adam West's Penguin, also Agent Smith from the Matrix, Lion-O and Cheetara, more HB characters, and some yeti-looking fuckers. Most of the crowd also seems to be made up of generic real world people which is the section where Lebron's family is watching from.

As retarded as that sounded, that would have made the movie ten times more interesting than just "Oh look, I get that background reference!" and instead geting bootleg Monstars and a golden black man robot.

Saw the trailer when I went to the movies earlier tonight.

Holy fuckballs, it looks awful. It looks like it's going to be the evil spawn of Ready Player One and Wreck It Ralph 2-- two movies that are basically the perfect representation of current year cinema.

What I found the most interesting is that in the original, Jordan needed to help the Tunes (and in a way get a little of his own mojo back.). In this one, the Tunes need to help Lebron. I'm sure there is an easy thread about Lebron being a narcissist and everyone needing to serve him, but it's nearly bedtime and my brain is shutting down.

Also, a LOT of the original hinges on Jordan making his comeback to basketball and there was some self-deferential humor there. I don't see Lebron being able to laugh at himself like Jordan did.
 
Ngl I actually liked ready player one and while it was a little heavy on references at least there was a plot centric reason for them.


It's crystal clear that sj 2 only has all these references thrown in to try and recreate rpos success and lure smooth brained autists into seeing it. Because they knew the plot and looney tunes can't support a whole movie on their own anymore

It almost reminds me of the Seltzer-Friedberg spoof movies due to how many references and cameos there are

Yep. Looks like the guys from Mad Max Fury Road... I wouldn't be surprised if all these corny epic crossover projects are being pushed by the Pooh's Adventures equivalent of suspiciously rich furries.

All these movies are just bad corporate wank, but I think nothing will ever top Wreck it Ralph 2 in pure shamelessness. Hell they actually tried using companies like Google and Twitter as some sort of elements people wanted to see for a crossover under the guise of 'corporations are your friends'. They also went the insanely cheap route unlike in the first film in regards to IPs, abandoning the PC gaming IPs just to shill their shitty new Disney blog site.
 
Unlike Ready Player One and Ralph Break the Internet, this feels less about I know what that is and I clapped, and more look at how much shit HBO Max has, please sub to HBO Max. Which is worse no idea.
 
I feel like animating Lebron for a portion of the movie has more to do with laziness rather than artistic choice. Makes me feel like they didn't want to bother with as much of the blending real life with animation.
 
I'm terrified how Hollywood actully wants to make movies mimicing Pooh adventures series. This is insane.
 
The trailer is mediocre, but not entirely terrible, it does give the impression that it's gonna be a dumb silly movie which for this case I'll shrug my shoulders and not get angry about it.

I don't get the point behind these unrelated cameos, it reminds me of that recent average South Park special where they threw a bunch of old characters just for cameo's sake to remind you "Hey, remember that character in that old episode??????". Why even spend that budget just for external IPs for just cameos?

Exactly. Its just cheap nostalgia grabs. And all they have these characters do in SJ2 is just stand around in some sort of repetitive cheering loop. Shit actually makes me miss the /tv/ leaks that claimed that WB villains would make up the villain team. Still I'll watch this film eventually, probably via yohoho, simply if just to play a 2 hour version of Where's Waldo, and since this film may actually be fun to watch while wasted. I mean Hell, it looks bad, like really bad, especially the 2D bits, but at least it doesn't look as atrocious as the Emoji Movie or Wreck it Ralph 2.
 
The Looney Tunes should be enough of a nostalgia bait ... But the makers of this movie have already expressed disdain for most of its characters for being so "politically incorrect," so they're going to use all of these other IPs. Thanks, I hate it!

Literally the only part of the trailer that managed to make me crack a smile was the gag with Yosemite Sam, an actual Looney Tune. "Shoot the ball, Sam!" Such a simple and obvious joke to make, but it worked.

The only movies that have brought in a bunch of cameos from other IPs and have actually made it work are The first Lego Movie and The Lego Batman movie ... And that's because Legos of these characters actually exist, and also because the plot of those movies are created by whoever is playing with the toys. What kid wouldn't have their Lego Batman fight Lego Voldemort if they didn't have those toys in real life? So, those movies get a pass. What this Space Jam sequel is doing is so incredibly lazy. I don't even think the first one is a good movie, but at least it has focus.

Yep. Although what are the chances that Kobe actually did record some lines for this film before his death? The movie has been in production Hell for a long time so its possible. Worst case scenario though is that they got the rights to use random recordings of Kobe by his family, which would be the ultimate act of poor taste.
