The main reason people were waiting for this exploit was because you could run Ubuntu Linux on the system while still getting pretty good access to the PS5's fancy GPU and CPU, meaning performance would be on par to some higher mid-tier gaming PCs.
It's basically a Radeon 6650 (XT?) with a Ryzen 3800, and to run PC games on it, you'd have to split the RAM into 8 GB VRAM and 8 GB main RAM. That was midrange 5 years ago. Its performance ceiling is below the absolute lowest end current-gen GPU, the 5050, and some entry-level CPU like a Core Ultra 5.

It was the game everyone, including kids, were playing and taught the execs that they can get kids without child friendly stuff.
No, that was Mortal Kombat.

The main grievous here is the fact the guy that first found the exploit isn't the one getting the bounty, it's some rando who came in and took it first without doing the majority of the research to find it.
Sounds like the first guy needs to do a better job of protecting his IP from pirates.

I think GTA: SA ruined the industry. It was the game everyone, including kids, were playing and taught the execs that they can get kids without child friendly stuff.
I recall developers for Jak 2 talking about how they asked kids what kind of games they were playing after focus testing showed they didn't care for basic platformers, they were surprised a lot of them answered with GTA.

Roblox has basically schlorped up the entire childrens market so i imagine most devs don't see a point in trying to appeal to little kids anymore.

I agree that sandbox games like Minecraft/Roblox have most of the demographic under lock and key but there are huge indie titles that seem to have massive appeal with younger gamers. I wonder how much of that success is attributed with having a lower price point.

No, that was Mortal Kombat.
Not for my generation. MK was the first but GTA:SA was when the floodgates opened. I remember it. MK was something rare around where I lived though I did play Armageddon at one point. GTA:SA though was very much in vogue. You knew about it or playing it. MK was a legend, GTA was in your library.

MK was the cartridge the cool kids with Sega Genesis had.

And also the SNES. The aura of "this is a FORBIDDEN GAME!!!!!" popularized it to no end.

Making a game for kids nowadays is piss easy. Just clone minecraft and, instead of an infinite procedural world, make a series of connected procedural thematic labyrinths with not-FNAF enemies and an entire encyclopedia of 'lore' and conspiracies. You don't even need fancy graphics.

You know the game has become peak slop when even other slop corpo brands starts dunking on your product™.

As a vita enjoyer I can't really say anything bad about thefloW since he's responsible for like 95% of all the homebrew shit that makes a hacked vita so wonderful but God is hacker drama gay.
The AI discourse has done to the hacker community what crack did to the black community. I know another vita hacker dev, rinnegatamante, had a major tard out a few months ago over people using AI to make ports that he tried to disable all his apps like a petulant child taking his ball home. He restored everything but out of anyone he's the last person who can get upset over the ethics of vibe coding when last year he made an update for his homebrew store that bricked every vita that had it installed.
Still most of it is just misplaced anger in the fact modern homebrew is 2 legs and 1 arm in the grave. All there is to do is port the like 5 games to pc that arnt already their or focusing on systems and games 99% of people never heard of and are only known for being obscure "lost relics". You can't pretend you wasting a decade on translating a Japanese cuckholding jrpg was an actual important investment of time when someone can just machine translate it, now you need to actually work on you fan translation to compete.
Most of "the scene" is now just people using retroarch on chinkhelds to play old gba games, the horizons have been met.

And there goes another beloved studio, just have to start that clock the moment the game comes out before the layoffs/closure.
Which studio are you referring to? Media Molecule haven't had anything to do with Little Big Planet since 2014 and haven't put out a game since Dreams in 2020. I assumed they were already closed.

That goes a long way to explaining why Jak 2 felt like a Jak & Daxter game with a bunch of GTA shit sloppily grafted onto it. I always assumed they were trying to copy Ratchet & Clank.

You know the game has become peak slop when the brick and mortar store put it on sale for 40 bucks with notable classics like the uncharted everyone hated, the batman game rocksteady did everyone hated and other stuff
This is why Sony needs digital only

Well, it seems like the Wolverine Subreddit has an infestation of Blast-Havers

$10 gets you $20 the “Having a Blast” crowd is the single most HR-Speak Bot Farm I’ve ever seen.
They've been sniffing the fart blasts.
Personal challenge: find a reasonable attractive woman in current game development. Bonus round: see if any Indians were involved as well. I’d have to think there’s a conflict of interest where Indians have to uglify women.

It’s just shit that Insomniac is asking for $70 for this linear-ass game when at least the Spider-Man games were very free-roam. This industry keeps asking up for more to receive less, and it pisses me off that we’ve come to this point.

Not just linear. Literally kills you if you go by an indirect route. Even linear games have a bit of exploration. DSP, as bad as he is, did not expect this level of fencing. He did not earn that death.
