Apparently the Little Big Planet devs are tasked with creating a first party Animal Crossing clone for 2027.
There is no brakes on the money wasting train for this fucking company. Babygames on the console mostly owned by men who want to play shooty action slash/sports games? and the men who want babygames would have a much better time on Nintendo? Great idea, surely it won't end with another huge loss and dev shutdown. Astrobot was at least a platformer, I do not see this doing well at all.
Better use of money than continuing to pay the faggit Kojima to churn out vomit.

Little Big Planet was well received and Nintendo has made it clear they don't intend to make another Animal Crossing anytime soon, to the point that they dug up Tomadochi Life to placated people. Especially if GTA implodes on launch, this could help Sony out.

I mean I’ve said for years that Kojingles just wants a HBO deal at this point, he’s clearly just going for the next best thing until he gets one.
If I was Xbox, I'd strip creative control from Kojima and force him against his will to make the world's first slapstick comedy stealth game with the stealth parts being tied to wacky hijinks where Skarsgard has to steal back a letter he sent his asshole boss telling him off after thinking he wasn't get a promotion only to find out he did get it after mailing the letter.

If the exploit had been released after Grand Theft Auto 6, we would have had a cheap and highly accessible desktop machine also capable of playing a highly-desired video game.

Now, especially with Gezine and TheFlow0 out of the picture, nobody really knows who can hack the Playstation. Additionally, with SciresM also out of the Nintendo hacking community, shit is looking grim. As more people cave to Hackerone bounties and programmers lazily rely on artificial intelligence, the days of jailbreaking video game consoles could be coming to an end.
I mean, jailbreaking consoles has been unimportant for a while. Consoles used to be important because their architecture was unique and specialized to games (PS2/PS3) and/or highly portable. Now? 10yo hardware can emulate most of the major unported games. Exclusives are a dying breed because every single console is just a standard PC, and that’s not even getting into how genuinely shit most modern games are. Sure, for those who are tech literate, willing to debug GNU/Linux, and own a PS5 without a major PC? It’s a loss, but we’re talking about a minority of a minority of a minority of users.

The days of jailbreaking has long since passed, in large part because it inherently exists without practical purpose for most consumers and has historically been an egotrip for both those who hack and those who follow the guides, myself included. You think jailbreaking my Wii, PSP, or PS3 served a purpose or made me play more games? Fuck no, but I felt like Hackerman while doing it. Well, PSP serves some minor purpose; it’s got a great DAC but I didn’t need to CFW for that.

RIP, reminds me of how someone snitched about the Switch hardware exploit and ended up pocketing the bounty for it. That one arguably had greater security risks since it effected every NVIDA Tegra chip, but this is just straight greed.
how dare you sell your work instead of giving it away

truly do not understand the point of hacking the shitware that is the ps5
Partly the same reason you climb mountains ("because it's there"), partly because they don't want you to (so "fuck 'em"), partly because if you can get at the hardware to run what you want, it's not a bad mid-tier gaming PC rig under the hood, albeit desperately overpriced for what it is now.

Don't remind me that Sony rushed out LittleBigPlanet 3 and destroyed an entire IP.

Besides Nintendo and I guess Lego is there anyone still consistently making childrens games? Feels like AAA has pulled up the ladder on future generations getting into the hobby. You'd think they'd see a demand after Astrobot.

Roblox has basically schlorped up the entire childrens market so i imagine most devs don't see a point in trying to appeal to little kids anymore.

I think GTA: SA ruined the industry. It was the game everyone, including kids, were playing and taught the execs that they can get kids without child friendly stuff.

Usually the unspoken rule is you announce the exploit before you submit a bounty and then release it after they patched it. That way all the normies will accidentally update their consoles and the minority who closely follow the homebrew scene will know not to update to the next version. The issue here is that the exploit wasn't completely finished yet and like it was mentioned earlier they were hoping Sony wouldn't figure out how to patch it until after GTA 6 came out so users could have both. The main grievous here is the fact the guy that first found the exploit isn't the one getting the bounty, it's some rando who came in and took it first without doing the majority of the research to find it.

theflow0 has always submitted his exploits to Sony, but he always released them to the public immediately afterwards

It's a win-win for everyone: hackers get incentives for finding an exploit, Sony gets to lock down their console from future attacks, and the homebrew scene becomes better.
