Sony is a master of enshittification, especially the modern day company. Sony when they were headquartered in Japan and now might as well be two different companies.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase PS6, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.
Sony, publicly apologize and rehire Kojima or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Sony knows none of this is going to matter when their bald lesbian game comes out and becomes a smashing hit that recoups all their losses.

Kojima probably roped them into dumping a bajillion dollars on a boring autism simulator that was never going to get its money back (again). In this case it might not just Sony that's retarded.
 
I played Death Stranding 1 recently and it was one of the best and most interesting games i ever played, i think people should really give a try, it's not some edgy avant-garde walking sim people portrayed it to be:
It's the first post apocalyptic game that isn't online only or some MMO that makes cooperation, which is a key part in rebuilding society something that is seamlessly integrated into gameplay:
  • You walk for miles until you character is sick or tired or can't walk no more in a mountain blizzard until you come across a vehicle, or a shelter built by someone else, or you can't pass easily a part of the map, until you see someone left their ladder in place, or anchored a rope you can climb down or up, or left a map marking showing the path they took
  • You can pick cargo someone dropped and either use it or finish the delivery yourself, you both then share the exp points, you can put cargo away to deliver in mail boxes or distribution centers if it's too hard and you need to prioritize cargo, or deliver them to a share dropbox people can deliver it for you
  • Boss fights you come across loot or guns people either willingly throw your way at their own boss fights or they dropped when they died, if you die you come across the souls of other players to make you stronger before you come back
  • People can collaborate with materials to rebuilt the in game map area with roads and bridges, just like if the real fucking apocalypse happened and we needed to rebuilt
  • Game is a message about how we became all shut ins with no real human connections and addicted to online deliveries and content and we need to literally touch grass to survive as a species, and all that shit was released 1 year before fucking COVID happened.
  • No one, and i mean no one despite the meme names Kojima had them make were cookie cutter characters with dumb reddit dialogue, no one is a one dimensional enemy and if i had a kid I'd probably bawl my eyes out at the ending like a bitch, japs really know how to make you want to be a dad or a mom.
Kojima is a fucking genius, MGS5 was still a masterpiece in 2015 despite being unfinished and now in 2026 with a fuckton of shit games, it manages to outshine all.
Sony just cancelled the last guy who wasn't doing retarded extraction shooters or remakes of past glory games made 20+ years ago, i expect them to drop Naughty Dog next if they are this retarded, or Insomniac games.

Think what you want about Kojima, but he's a big name in the industry. If Sony are willing to cut the cord with him, what does that say for any up-and-coming creative who might want to follow in his footsteps?

Unfortunately true. The only reason I'm a "console gamer" is because I'm cheap as fuck. I got an Xbox One for free years ago, and my Switch is still clinging to life 7 years later. Used Xbox games are still pretty cheap secondhand and I've amassed enough of a library on Switch over the years to be pretty content.

If I were going to drop some ludicrous amount of money on a new something-or-other, I could see getting a Steam Machine since it's built more around being a couch-and-TV box, which is how I do 99% of my gaming these days.
