It made sense with the data we had at the time.
But it didn't. Even before Steam physical PC games always retailed for cheaper than console games in the same stores, and they must have been more expensive to produce because they came in giant, custom-printed boxes often filled with cool bonuses like cloth maps, lore books and those bizarre DRM tools like the pirate face maker for Monkey Island. The only console games I remember doing anything remotely close to that was the paper maps you got with the PS2 GTA games.

Console games cost more because enough console gamers are willing to pay the price, same reason Microsoft (and eventually Sony and Nintendo) get away with charging for online multiplayer and why no console store does deep discounts like Steam (at least not on games anyone would actually want).

Can't log into my playstation account because my password attempts are incorrect and neither of the security questions are correct either. My PS3 is deadge and at my parents' house, so even if I could turn it on for long enough to shop one last time on the PS3 store, I can't.
Fucking snoy and their "customer service" is bullshit.
I hate the anti christ.
Do you still have access to the email address ? Maybe you can do a password reset.

So I know some people won't care about Maxamillian Dood, since he's really a nobody outside the fighting game space. But the dude almost went full hatsoff today when he implied that Sony going discless was all Trump's fault.

Ignoring that Sony and other major game companies have been trying to go discless since the Xbox One/PS4 era.

I always had a feeling that that dude was actually a soyboy the whole time.

I do, and I can't because I need to contact customer support, which sends me through a loop on their shit website.
Ah well, there's no need to even consider giving Sony my money anyway even if I did have access to my PS3. Emulation is fine and I can't think of any e-shop exclusive that I don't already have, or have an interest in, like Tokyo Jungle and the Yakuza Dead Souls zombie game that hasn't been ported or remastered yet.

I am 100% convinced this is inorganic.
yeah duh, the snoy defense force is consisted mostly of jeets and pakis being paid like 10cents/100posts.
I could write an entire book on the some of the weird, disturbing Reddit experiences I've encountered over the past ten years that I am 99% sure are glowie-related.
do it nigga, release the glowfesto.

I think Sony did a big fuck up but perhaps its one that shows that our elites, for as much "smart" as they want to believe they are, are also extremely arrogant and sometimes completely unable to help themselves.

Dropping this altogether was already an extremely bad decision but do this right fucking after they deleted a bunch of digitally owned movies from the libraries of people THAT ALREADY BOUGHT THEM, with their answer be a big "Lol, deal with it, you signed a contract saying this is ok"? Hell, nvm the fact that this was very close after the controversial digital only GTA 6 debacle?

Our elites truly are that retarded. They seem to have forgotten the boiling of the frogs is suppose to be slow but, fuck it, I guess they decided they cant help it and dropped all this shit at once, making EVEN THE APATHETIC NORMIE MASSES be forced to confront this matter, especially since the problems with digital only options have been laid bare in front of them with the digital movie shitshow. Even the "I dont care for disc" idiots cant argue that this mentality wont fuck them over because Sony just proved they can and WILL erase what you bought. Sony literally left no way to defend them without one outting themselves as delusional.

Sony truly is a special breed of retard but perhaps it goes to show that altho our elites want us to believe they are these 4D chess playing geniuses, they are still slaves to their egos and NEED to drop subtlety.
That's what i've believed for a bit now ever since at least the Coronavirus, the modern elite are not the elite of old who didn't actually believe the shit and pushed it at a pace that most people wouldn't notice. the new elite, for a variety of reasons, are not are as cunning as the old elite were as they legitimately believe the shit and push it as fast as possible but it ends up blowing up in their face because of it and this is why whenever they try to implement what they want it's half-assed and sloppy.
But I digress since this isn't the thread to sperg about that, this just shows that Sony has always been retarded and they just use other companies' retardation to get an advantage, but since there aren't any other companies they can point to, we're seeing that retardation in full display.

Well to be fair they don't have a choice. Its not like PC where I can get a game through various official and unofficial key sellers with aggressive pricing and their various discount coupons and store credit systems. Consoles are a closed economy. I might snag a cheap PSN card somewhere, but that's just a drop in the bucket.

But as you have pointed out console gamers clearly are willing to eat every unnecessary price increase and pay for things that are free somewhere else.

Well to be fair they don't have a choice.
They do if they're willing to learn emulation, and even if they're unwilling or unable to do that everything worth playing on console is also on PC, cheaper and with better performance.

I think Astro Bot is the only game still exclusive to PS5, and as much as I loved that game it's not worth buying the console just to play it.

(Obviously Nintendo is excluded from this conversation, although last I heard Switch emulation is pretty solid now.)

I think PC has been the superior platform for years or even decades now especially with how consoles tiered more and more to emulate the PC, so I follow your logic, but that's not really solving any issues that the consoles had for a long time now. Which of course are self-induced.

This dude went all BLM during the 2020 riots and was full on drumpf mode even during the 2015 election. Why is anybody surprised he's still a massive faggot?
Good to see that he is still skinwalking his dead dog for chat donations like a nigger, leave him out of your deluded TDS rantings.

I've heard of this story going around and have to say that guy is a fucking idiot.

Strike one, he went to GameStop to trade in a boatload of physical Xbox games. GameStop is known to have horrible resale trade-in values. I don't know the games he traded in, but I'm sure he could've went to a local game shop or sold them himself on Ebay for better value.

Strike two, he traded in physical media for a PS5 and a couple games. PS5s are going up in price and are arguably worth less for the experience than before. If this was ten years ago or so, I'm sure that $1000 could've gone further with a couple consoles and some games.

Strike three, Sony is discontinuing physical media for their exclusives in 2028. The PS5 is already at the end of its lifecycle. So, all that physical media he traded in, I hope he knows that he basically gave away ownership for a digital only future.

There must be between 250 - 300 games here. So excluding the 360 console he got about $4 to $3 per game on average for a collection that may be worth ten times more of what he got or perhaps even more if there are rare games buried in there.

Traded an entire 7th gen legacy of games for a Sony console that is on its way out, no real exclusives to speak off and right after the announcement that said console manufacturer will get rid of physical media in 2 years.

Cattle truly deserve nothing.

What's interesting is that a few games I see on there are shovelware or average licensed games, yet they could still be worth at least $10-15 because they're not in print anymore. Even some trash games from PS3/360 could be worth a fair bit in resell value.
