Literally nobody wants that game, and even the cover blends in with like every single other media franchise for having the most Amerimutt looking girl in the world.

At least Deathloop had a cool premise and a charismatic protagonist, but even that may as well have been a fuckin Walmart Great Value™ game for how bland and boring it was.

Calling it now: Forspoken will get hyped by game journos, sell like absolute shit, we'll see at least one article about how those dastardly racist sexist gamers boycotted the game because brown grrl, and it'll be deep discount fodder for the rest of the generation.
I just don't understand, Amy Hennig, who's really talented (she wrote Uncharted 1-3), worked on this game. How did she make this utter piece of shit?

Also Deathloop was just Great Value Dishonored.

You're welcome to try, though I don't know if there's much to say other than "free games guyz!!!!!!!!". Which I'd agree with, thanks to the Legendary client, which lets you install and launch all those free games without ever touching Epic's launcher. As long as you're okay with doing everything from a CLI.
I was thinking about outright arguing with everyone talking about the Epic Games Store(tm) or Mr. Sweeney. Do it Mori style.

I know Sony makes a lot of mistakes this console gen but i noticed this thread is way larger than the Microsoft equivalent thread, did i miss a ton of Sony mistakes or is it people yelling at each others?
Marissa helps out a lot with that I'd imagine.

Other than that, Microsoft isn't better than Sony overall. Both consoles are a complete fucking waste of time and money currently. But at least Microsoft gives off the appearance of caring about games while Sony clearly just want to hire troons and make shitty movies.

Consoomers, and nostalgic millennials. But I repeat myself.

Gran Turismo is a series that isn't really that high onto consoomerism and nostalgia, and is a niche series, like most other racing games. The biggest amount of consoom there is is maybe the limited edition versions of the game, peripherals with the GT logo on it/to get a racing setup (which can be REALLY expensive if you get a wheel and a racing seat), and spending money on microtransactions to purchase cars in the later GT games.

I actually really liked that controller, and wanted to get one a few weeks after it came out. Turned out, it really was a no-joke limited edition, and nobody had stock of it, nor even a used one afterwards. I even went into a Gamestop and asked about it, and one employee even fuckin' talked to me like I'm an idiot, saying something like "That was a limited edition from months ago, you're not gonna find it anywhere :smug:". And then I looked around, and saw countless used games with "Day One Edition" emblazoned across their boxes, looked back at him, and said "Uh, yeah, you're right".

I guess racing fans are the types to not buy other kinds of games, but stay super dedicated to their genre, and buy fancy controllers and steering wheels and all sorts of stuff for their favorite games. So they buy controllers like that in droves, leaving casuals with gaudy taste like myself wondering where they went.

The said FH5 controller also has a code for an exclusive car, the Ford De Luxe Five-Window Coupe Forza Edition, which cannot be obtained in any other way, and has an additional shirt and victory emote. Those exclusive items played a part as to why that controller was hard to find if you didn't get one early.

Also, the codes cannot be redeemed on the Steam version of FH5, for some reason, and I don't remember if that issue was fixed.

Developers are complaining that the Series S is holding back resources for next gen games. I wouldn't call it "unremarkable," more like being neutral.
You know, I'm not really sure if I buy that. Series S is still a very powerful console when you compare it to the 2013 consoles. Obviously. It's a console from 7 years later, of course it's gonna run circles around them, but those consoles are still getting plenty of games due to supply chain issues plaguing the new ones. Not to mention, with PC games, you're gonna have different settings your players can adjust, and a lot of your players are gonna be playing on older computers with 1080p 60hz screens. And then if you want to port to Switch? Lol, you're gonna be dropping the hell out of some settings.

“I wish gamers understood what 60fps means, in terms of all of the things they *lose* to make the game run that fast,” he said (via Gamerant). “Especially taking into account that we have a current-gen console that’s not much better than a last gen one.”
Oh, I get it. Framerate's no joke. I played a lot of Far Cry 5 on low settings to get a smooth, consistent 100fps, despite having a GPU that can max it out at an inconsistent 60. Still, I think resolution is way overhyped, and I'd be perfectly fine with playing a game at a smooth 720p60 with PS3-tier graphics than an inconsistent 1440p30 with modern graphics. We are way past the point of diminishing returns, and I think it's pretty stupid to not just decide that graphics in general are good enough, and put all of the focus into smoothing out the experience.

Marissa helps out a lot with that I'd imagine.

M$ is better than Sony in the same way the spastic retard is better than the wheelchair-bound drooler at the special olympics. Microsoft makes the best controller on the market entirely because it's the only one that doesn't develop drift issues within a year. Not that they won't break over time, I think I've had more Microsoft controllers wind up with problems than from any other manufacturer. Nintendo's got bad stick drift, and PlayStation 5 controllers have it too. Meanwhile, how many of us have 20-year-old Gamecube controllers that still function perfectly fine? I do. I ended up with six of the bastards, and they all work well. Gamecube controllers can have hell of cosmetic damage, yet function as well as the day they were made.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't consoles closer to PCs than from the sixth generation? I know there's still the Xbox One and PS4 to account for, but the Xbox Series S should be closest to a mid range PC. If developers were smart, they'd aim for framerate over fidelity and use the Series S as a starting point.

One advantage the Series S has over the PS5 is game accessibility. I'm referring to Game Pass. What does PS5 have? If you don't have a disc drive for it, you're basically ripping yourself off by buying through the PlayStation Store. I know there's deals, but they cannot even get PS4 backwards compatibility right.

First thing that cover reminded me of is Far Cry 6. Mainstream games really are lacking in creativity.

Man, I'm starting to really hate modern mainstream games. They're all lacking in creativity to a point where it shows, so much, just how by-the-books game development has become. Have you noticed just how gauche the writing has become? Characters cursing in ways that make it sound like everything was written by edgy 13 year olds? I swear, that didn't used to be so common. Far Cry, Borderlands, Deathloop, they all just feel like different coats of paint on the same product. And then I see games like Forspoken, with the ol' protagonist-staring-at-you cover, only this time it's a racially ambiguous girl, as is common in so much media and advertising nowadays. I can't even imagine how @Marissa Moira could look at that and convince himself it's gonna be anything other than mass-produced hogwash.

I hate this. I really do. I would love to see Forspoken turn out to be a wonderful, innovative, well written game, but it's not gonna happen. You can tell by looking at the cover that it's yet another trend chaser, only nowadays, trends aren't determined by the market at all. They're determined by hedge funds with crazy rules that gear everything towards making shit as woke as possible. The process demolishes all creativity, and turns media into trash that can be churned out on an assembly line. Video games are my favorite fuckin' thing on God's green Earth, and, well, I guess we're going through their very first dark ages. Thank Christ for emulation.

It's the Hollywoodification of games now. I bet you can train an AI to spit out the concept art for the next AAA game, including cover art and a synopsis.

I just don't understand, Amy Hennig, who's really talented (she wrote Uncharted 1-3), worked on this game. How did she make this utter piece of shit?
because she's just one person on a team of writers for it. It feels like it was written by a committee to appeal to zoomers because that's exactly what happened.
The japanese side had no idea there was anything wrong until the trailers were met with derisive laughter. Pity the translator trying to explain cringe to them.

I mentioned this in other thread a few months ago. There are also other 3 people on writing team (Gary Whitta, Todd Stashwick and Allison Rymer).
TL; DR:
Amy Hennig was only brought on for the world writing. Meanwhile, the main writers (Todd Stashwick and Allison Rymer) are two "nobodies", been in supporting casts or wrote for some Tv-series I don't think that many people even know or have heard of.
Also, considering not all 4 people actually working all together at the same time already shows to be a big bad warning sign.

Whole context:

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is a Yakuza game in all but name, which is especially annoying now that all of Yakuza (except Dead Souls), and also Judgment are multiplatform. Fist of the North Star is an old manga franchise, so there's probably licensing issues with getting it ported.
btw there is a Hokuto no Ken license game coming on Switch under the franchise of Fit Boxing, releasing this December 22nd in Japan with a March 2023 date worldwide.
The concept looks silly enough that I might get it just for the fun.
Also the japanese sub-title has "You're already thin" (omae wa mou yaseteiru) but it's been left absent in the western localization for some reason

I stopped trusting western games as a whole a long time ago (probably around 2014 or 2015), and since then took the japanese-pill for anything new. The sole 2022 western title that picked my curiosity, and that I really liked too, was TMNT Shredder's Revenge. You could tell that game was a labor of love and respected the original 90s media source.

Current year social politics being shoehorned into every form of western fictional media, and their sanitized art direction, have been a fucking disaster.

Quick question: when was the last time an ad for a PS2 game made you want to buy the game with no questions asked?

I’ll start with me:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=6nGLTfvZM-k
This was the first NBA Street game I was introduced to for the PS2 and GameCube and I honestly did not think that next year it will turn 20 years old. I missed out on the first one since I didn’t have a PS2, but this one was the real deal.
I didn't need an ad for me to get it, had so much fun playing the first one piss-drunk with my friends already, and i'm a huge anti-sport games fag. 2 is definitly where the series peaked. GC was probably the last console i had REAL fun with.

Edit: Wait, i got this one for PS2 and not GC, i think i got the third one for GC but i'm actually not sure anymore. I might've even pirated it as i already had a boot disc + plastic bits to play imports with and that worked for burned games, too.

It looks as boring and uninspired as the Horizon games, i still don't understand how people have fun playing those bland pieces of shit.

People are only yelling at Marissa ITT. Rightfully so.

Despite that, they keep making the same mistake, appealing to the west killed Ninjia Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Meanwhile KOEI-Tecmo's biggest success story in years is an anime girl JRPG
3D Ninja Gaiden was never popular in Japan, I mean that should be obvious since the only good ones are still only available on the Hexbox. And I kinda doubt Itagaki wasn't trying to appeal to the west since that's always been part of his schtick.

I literally called it a Hybrid like God of War. That's not wrong. They specifically said they took inspiration from it(just like God of War's devs did), that's what a hybrid system does.

Hybrids are not a full 1:1 copy, they're going to value different properties. You just sound like you're unfamiliar with the series I'm talking about.

But yes it would really really help before you debate me that you've actually played these same games that I have, especially if I get you upset that easily.

Nintendo relies on global sales this has been true for a number of years.
