Tomorrow begins the 3rd year of the PS5, and I’ve still yet to see one in person, or in stock anywhere
It's crazy, right? I don't have the biggest social circle but not even a single friend of a friend of a friend got around to buying one. In my tight circle everyone already said they won't get one even if it's becoming available, and we all owned/own PS1 - PS4. The pricepoint and lack of games are the dealbreaker by now, plus the push towards PC releases by most third-party devs.

I know someone with a PS5. I don't know why he has it, he just plays PS4 games on it for the most part.

And I can't see myself using the ignore feature either, it's kinda gay.

It’s two years old, therefore, ’22-‘23 is its third year on the market. It sounds worse when you put it that way
It's been in stock all the last few weeks online for around 10 hours each day, Ragnarok has caused yet another rush.

Both bundles and game consoles, now all seem to be sold out again Horizon, GoW, and MW2. But it seems restocks happen every 2-3 hours rather than days like it was last year.

Poop A Loop is right guys, I just rate Marissa's posts in this thread as dumb without reading them and move on. It seems to annoy him enough to leave a comment in my profile about it.

Ehh, for first party stuff a company should be able to enjoy the fruit of its own labor. I say port those to PS5 but otherwise let them lie.
I disagree with this, if copyright law was actually fair and favored consumers and content producers rather than publishers, lawyers and general corpo scum I would agree, however I find it really hard to believe that anyone that worked in an original big budget game from the PS1 (Say, Blasto) that has not been re-released and that Sony has no intention to re-release is still working with Sony and could make the game available to the general public in some way without being sued into the ground.

This gets worse with region-exclussive games, it took nintendo 26 years to release Earthbound 0 to the public despite the fact that it was fully translated back in 1989 and Mother 3 will never see the light of day again because retards these days think it's transphobic.

Game availability and preservation efforts or emulation of online components is good for consumers in the long run, if games remain walled it doesn't really benefit anyone; at some point the people that worked on it stop making money, consumers have a hard time finding a copy of the game as more copies are retired from circulation each year and the only people still profiting are the aforementioned corpo scum that have never done honest work in their lives that list the games in their IPs and patents catalogue for investors and filling lawsuits.

Copywrite laws as they currently are are fair. Play a different game, or, alternately, nearly every PS family console will play your old copy of Blasto so go play it on one of those. Thats a bad comparison to us talking about games "locked up" on PS4 anyway, all are under a decade old, all of the Sony first party ones are big releases.

Its the opposite, the fairies in Mother 3 are too trans-cepting for a childrens' game, I'm sure of it. They don't want conservatives bitching about pro-tranny messaging in their games. Anyways, I despise Earthbound fans, I spit on them, I am glad that they will never get an official release for their game that they've all either already played anyway or have no intention of actually playing.

Game "preservation" efforts, for single player games anyway, are such a crock of shit. Just say you want to pirate, there's no harm in being honest. Somehow all of these "preservationists" have their own electronic copy of Link to the Past squirreled away and yet actual public dumps of prototypes have been lost because nobody felt like downloading and reseeding them. The community can cry me a fucking river.

Ebay exists, you can buy damn near any game you want, you just don't want to pay market cost for it.

It has literally never been easier to buy and play rare/obscure games than it is today, even if you don't factor in piracy. Stuff like the NES, SNES, Genny and TG16 mini consoles offer hundreds of dollars of games for significantly less than that. Even Nintendo's shitty online service gives you most of the heavy hitters. Arcade giants and rare hidden gems are rereleased for under 10 dollars on company stores, the Xbox and Playstation play disks from 20 years ago, Steam has two decades of PC gaming history available for you and GOG the decade before. You're spoiled for choice. And its all thanks to the "corpo scum" who put money in to make that stuff available for you.

Has it really been that long already? Damn.

I know precisely one person that has a PS5, but I haven't really heard them talk about it much.
The only person I know who has a PS5 bought his a month ago for CoD: Modern Warfare II

He's a huge Sony fanboy, to the point that he won't shut the fuck up about TLOU, Days Gone and Uncharted saying they are the best games ever made, and he doesn't shut up about TLOU TV show coming out.

Recently, he admitted to me that he hasn't actually finished any of the games and just watches other people play them on Twitch/Youtube. All he *actually* plays is Call of Duty.

I mean, outside of Elden Ring, Demon Souls remake and I think a Ratchet and Clank game aren't they all PS4 games?

Pretty much. I can't believe it's entering its 3rd year and still has such a paltry selection of exclusives.

>its in stock
>bundles are sold out

PICK ONE.

Oh, and you'd practically need PS+ to enjoy the PS5 to the fullest. Unfortunately for Sony, they're bleeding PS+ subscriptions since their decision to add tiers to their service. What is even the point of obtaining a PS5 if there are no exclusives?

I surmise that Sony is running out of stock because they cannot handle demand.

Mother 3 is the #1 game in the world that everyone claims to want to play, but then never gets around to it, or makes up excuses to not play the fan translation.

I played it through when the translation came out. It was good, but I never played it again. It's a very one-and-done kinda game. Probably because the story is a tragedy, the whole game has a very melancholic tone, and there aren't really any sidequests.

Which ones? I've grabbed a lot of random prototypes over the years. A lot of random ones are up on Hidden Palace, too.

A lot of those mini consoles ended up being retardedly rare and expensive, though there really are countless retro compilations and rereleases out there. Like I seriously wouldn't be surprised if Pac-Man has been released over 70 times.

That being said though, piracy is the greatest. It's a blessing that we can have literally every game made in the 20th century on a memory card small enough to fit in your urethra. Car guys can't have every car from the 20th century shoved up their dickholes, but we can have all our games just crammed right up there.

I agree completely, I wondered why I never replayed Mother 3 but that probably explains it. I liked it a lot, but I just don't feel like going back through it like I do with Earthbound.

That said, I would like an official release just to play out of curiosity to see what differences would be present.

Any good ones you can suggest?

I tried Star Fox 2 back in the day before it was officially released (which is still amazing to me, Nintendo should do a limited run on SNES cartridges). The only other notable one was Dinosaur Planet, but it was unplayably glitchy. It must have been a raw ROM because I heard fans patched it up to some degree.

But not Hank Hill’s urethra.
It’s quite narrow, you know.

PS4 was the last one for me. Major franchises I liked shit the bed, and every game I wanted was on PC anyway. So I had to ask...why not just get a decent video card in my PC for once?

Yeah, same. Never going to give Sony a single cent again. Bought a fairly-priced pre-built with a 3060ti in it back when GPU prices were retarded and will never look back, shit's gonna last me forever as i'm still playing on 1080p and seldom extremly graphically demanding games. Consoles have been gutted PC for a while now anyways, might as well go for the real thing.
Piracy is another huge plus, never having to deal with PSN and their absolute bullshit pricing policy again.

I got my PS4 fairly late and it was for a single game, P5. Now that every single gameline i like (RGG games, anything Fatlus) announced they will release on PC there's really not a single reason to ever go back to console, especially Playstation.
I would've gotten a Switch if Nintendo did a price cut, but that thing still costs the same as at release, luckily the Switch emulation scene is going at the speed of light and i already got to play some Switch-only titles.

Among the people in my social circle who play videogames, it's either Xbox Series S, PC or Switch that are most often mentioned. I have yet to see or heard anyone playing on a PS5. And the sole times I saw PS5s irl were "second-hand" items sold way above the manufacturer's price, although I admit I don't go much in vidya stores/sections besides finding something to gift for someone.

If the 3rd year ends up to be a repeat of the first two years, that doesn't bode well at all in terms of healthy userbase for the PS5.
