PS5 is going to be around for an eternity if they're still hanging onto PS4. PS5 Pro is imminent.

To be fair to the entire industry at large, I've heard of this before with other AAA collection bundle crap (especially steelbook case crap), so this is just apparently and unfortunately standard practice. I don't know what started this, but this is just the clown world we live in. This is why I don't buy collector's editions, I just want the video game.

I heard it's to standardize collector's editions without printing specific game copies per edition. Still, it's stupid.

Well just because other developers/publishers are doing it as well doesn't make it okay! Sony should be the industry leader by example, not following in the footsteps of greedy companies like EA/Ubisoft/Activision whatever, oh how the mighty have fallen.

There are certain third party companies release special editions on multiple consoles. Why is releasing a PS4 and PS5 version such a big deal? Many games even have a free PS5 upgrade if you own the PS4 version.

If the modern soy gaming consumers stopped buying this crap, would companies still pull this?
 
I'm not a fan of steelbooks, they aren't inherently bad but they're a lazy cheap thing to include that consoomers go nuts for. They're not as ugly as Funko Pops but I think people who obsessively collect them have similar brain damage.
