It's really telling that Microsoft decided to make that one the limited edition, they couldn't even spare a series X

Yeah, there were a number of elaborate special edition Xbox Series Xs they made for Microsoft Rewards sweepstakes, but lately they've been doing Series Ss. Go figure.

I will be kinder to the PS5 if I win a sweepstakes of a rare special edition one along these lines. But only a little kinder.

Well you just had the instance of people's cards not being able to run elden ring, so they went out and bought a console and a game because it was cheaper than buying a new card.
A console costs $3-400 liberally. Wouldn't it make sense to save up a little longer TO get a graphics card? I am speaking for everybody.

I could see PC players migrating to PS4 midway through its console cycle BECAUSE of Sony's games. But, since Sony is embracing the PC market, it would be almost moot to get a PS5 IF you have a capable PC.

Nintendo can get away with that as their exclusives are ONLY on their respective consoles. Emulation not withstanding, but that's another story.

They're not really embracing the PC market, They fund Epic and ported some older stuff to try and get people interested in an IP. Embracing would be same day releases.

A higher end card is going to run you double the cost of a system normally and they're already far more expensive now then they have been in the past. Like pre-pandemic it wasn't all that uncommon to have a decent card be around $800 and that's before figuring in stuff like ram and cooling systems (or the most important part of any computer, LED lights).

PC really has no current company that's on par with the first party console manufacturers in terms of putting out exclusive software. All the developers have pretty much spread elsewhere.
PC doesn't need it though. It gets enough variety in its exclusives that come from companies like SEGA to small developers like Poncle or Youthcat Studios.

If I win a PS5, I'd trade it in for a decent PC. I don't care for its design. Then again, Rift Apart but that's ONE game.

I'm not all that sure

The business model for years now had just been Steam or smaller digital storefronts or launchers, but it winds up segregating it from the rest of the game platforms who all have their own digital store fronts as well as presence in stores. They're more widely prioritized because of this. I mean how many times has a PC port just been fucked to hell? Developers usually don't prioritize their PC port still.

There's no real money behind essentially pimping the superiority of the PC, maybe Valve will do something with the steamdeck down the line but as it stands it's kind of cut off, but all the real energy is coming from console releases. It used to be that PC would be competing in the same space as consoles but many stores have just removed their PC section. At most you get a section for Steam gift cards.

ok and why did the stores remove their PC sections? And why is SEGA still making PC exclusives?

I just skimmed the last few pages, but is this a discussion about pc gaming sorta kinda dying/being somehow a gateway to buying a ps5? Because if that's the case it sure feels like the 2010s in here.

Do you mean Total War or do you mean their Unknown Super Game?

Because total war predates the Sega buyout and most of sega's business still comes overwhelmingly from consoles.

Yea Total War you know that company SEGA bought in 2005 and released 12 games just for the PC. And I never said they only made money from PC, its you who said big companies don't make just for just PC anymore and yet there are some stuff that just doesn't translate to console for some weird reason. I mean a PS5 is on par with a computer right? So why is there some genres just not as prevalent on the consoles like they are on the PC?

Considering that shit like Ark and Minecraft made it on consoles and Isometric RPGs work very well. I'm not so sure about things translating well to consoles has to do with the mechanics and it lies more to do with how the UI could be consolidated and refined.

Other games have simplified UI shit and consolidated commands before to their benefit. Hell even Final Fantasy 14 works on consoles and that's an MMO.

I doubt its a UI thing though. RTS have already been a thing on Consoles and most of the modern Open world menus could be similar to building menus in games like Total War. I mean there really is no reason SEGA couldn't try out a Total War on the Xbox at least, due to similar OS, but they don't seem to be willing to test the waters. But then again its Creative Assembly who went from one of the best Total Wars to the worst due to not making a TW game in a TW game.

Total War games mostly have been eclipsed by Warhammer. I figure the license is the main reason. The TW People probably have an agreement for a single platform and GW hasn't changed it yet since they will pretty much give shit out under a bunch of preconditions already.

None of the recent Warhammer games outside of TW except maybe Space Marine have been received well. They've had more misses than hits and their hits just tend to be average at best.

really besides Space Marines and Warhammer? None of those games would probably exist today without Dawn of War, at least the first 2, doing so well. Vermintide did so well it got a sequel and a quasi sequel in Darktide. Gladius was a well received 4X game and Battlefleet Gothic was also well received granted more of a niche title. Granted you are right in the fact the 40k games are either Triple A or straight to vaporware/mobile game quality, very few in-between. Maybe do a little more research before just spouting things out, doesn't look good for you.

You can't be seriously comparing bedrock "pay to add a skin" minecraft to actual pc minecraft.

This might be the dumbest thing you've ever said.
He might have a bit of a point, in a sense. I haven't played on a PC since the early '00s, but I'm getting a Steam Deck. I'm genuinely curious but, what AAA exclusives does PC have? Yeah, it has a virtually infinite pool of indie and even probably "AA" stuff, but what big games are there?

I assume it has some but they're probably all sims or RTS, real "computery" genres that I just don't give a shit about. That's all I see by looking, otherwise it's on one of the big 3 for the most part.

Besides MOBA's, MMO's, CRPG's, Engineering Games, Survival Games and the stuff you mentioned not much.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Edition.

The only consistent way to get a sanely priced GPU right now is by buying prebuilt PCs. Scalpers and supply chain issues have completely fucked things up for anyone wanting to get an RTX 3060 or any other middish range card at MSRP. If anything is converting PC gamers, it's that.

Unless you want to run everything at 4K 420 fps or are a huge fan of scalpers, you don't need to spend 800 dollars on a video card. Most PC gamers don't even play games at 1440p. What's happening right now is even the mid range cards are out of reach for their intended market.
