They should just give up and make nuSonic a quick time event "game" if they're going to do more boostshit. Either put up or shut up making a good 3D Sonic game, they've been trying for the last 20+ years and only getting as close as "it's okay if you ignore 75% of the game".

How the fuck does Sonic have literally five uncontested good games and nearly three decades of shit but some series get one stinker and die? Better series deserve Sonic's unholy revenant-esque staying power.
There's several rumours about the next game not being boost at all. Granted, they could all be bullshit but it'd be a refreshing change of pace.

I'm actually in agreement with this much, just make the traversal options as fun and engaging as what you would see in, say, Crackdown, Infamous, or, hell, even the old Spider-Man 2 movie game. Build the game world to be just as grounded enough for it to seem livable by normal people/Mobians/whatever as shown in previous games, but also add just enough to make the options for getting around fun and fitting with the setting as well. For instance: Encourage plenty of wallrunning, put rail lines all over for grinding, scatter springboards here and there, poles for doing swing jumps, ring lines for lightspeed dashes, the occasional floating enemy trail for consecutive homing attacks, etc. The mission structure can accommodate setpieces in the open world much like any other GTA clone and GTA game for additional, situational gameplay variety as well.
So, Sunset Overdrive, but as a Sonic game? That actually sounds really cool, I'd be down for that (BTW, Sunset Overdrive is underrated AF. If you have a PC or Xbox One, please at least put it in your backlog, it's so goddamn good).

Did you play the 3DS version? It's level design is worse than Sonic CDs and that's impressive.
Fire & Ice was only on the 3DS, so I think you're confusing it with Shattered Crystal. They're two different games. F&I came after and afaik, because I never played Shattered Crystal, it fixed the problems with level design.

You're right, I had it confused for the first one which is overly handholdy and stops your progress all the time to switch to another character for 1 roadblock which could easily have been solved by the other.

Did they fix Sonics arms?

Keep an eye on this thread. Since last month, people have been dissecting/inspecting Knuckles Chaotix and the 32X and have been finding out a lot of info regarding both.

Best Case Scenario: We might have a 100% accurate 32x emulator instead of everyone relying on Kega Fusion.

Personal opinion is that Sonic CD is the best Sonic game - it suffered from the same problems that other games did, but the artwork and soundtrack were very cool back in the day it was released.

(Personal opinion is also that the US version had a better soundtrack - I've heard the Japanese soundtrack, and while it did sound more fitting for a Sonic game, the US version was more original and interesting).

Sonic Boom is the last remnants of Skies of Arcadia.

I mean nobody really knows it but the fucking orange badger is a direct reference to Aika.

Anyone have any speculation as to what Sega will do to mark the 30th anniversary of the franchise? I’m really hoping for another Sonic Mania-style game, albeit one that doesn’t rely so heavily on remixed versions of classic levels.

according to leaks they will be moving on from classic sonic and instead make a Sonic Advance/Rush/Sonic 4-esque 2D Game with the Modern Designs, and an Adventure style game (no boost) with a focus on lore.

oh and a Sonic Colors remaster
