Don't know if this had been posted, but a while back it was announced IDW characters Tangle and Whisper will be added to mobage Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces Speed Battle. This also has had the side effect of pissing Archie fans.
I read somewhere that all the characters created while under Archie post-lawsuit were totally fucked rights-wise. I assumed this was because they're historically and notoriously shit with their paperwork

Why would they be mad? Yeah those aren't great games, but this would be a step in getting some of the good comic shit in games

I guess getting embarrassed in court and losing the longest running licensed comic got them to actually pay attention to that shit now

If Mania 2 had The Freedom Fighters in it, it would probably sell a few million copies just on that alone.

Properly done 2D Sonic with more layers of Nostalgia on top of it. It would probably get re-released more than Resident Evil 4 did.

Mostly waifufags getting mad that Sally and Bunnie (and the other FFs, but really, it mostly those 2) didn't get any thing from Sega after 20+ years in comics while the aforementioned characters have been around for less then 3.

I suppose that's a fair point for long time fans, but Tangle and Whisper are more in tune with modern Sonic and this is just me speculating, I'm thinking Sega is more hesitant to use any characters from the bygone era after the mess they had to deal with Penders. Tangle and Whisper are completely free from that drama which would make them much more appealing to use in other media, plus I believe they are actually fairly popular with the kids. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing the FF in modern games, but it is what is.

IIRC, one of the writers was chimping out over an mediocre game called Sonic Chronicles. Someone claimed that the comic writer's contract was either burnt to an crisp or locked away and lost somewhere. But anyways, cue legal shit-flinging over the writer's OC story and the fallout is that the comics aren't canon (like anyone read them), no sequel to Chronicles, and the writer is off doing his own thing.

If you're talking about Ken Penders, he's lost in the maelstrom of his own autism.

He's up to nine thousand pages for the Lara-Su Chronicles. If you ever wanted to know about knuckles entire extended family tree that stretches back to ancient egypt and beyond then you have a lot of reading to do.

There's also the proto-echidnas from the Cretaceous and their whole extended family/tribe. He went to a museum for reserch.

He talks about family trees like George RR Martin talks about food.

Speaking of Chronicles, I'm still bumed there won't ever a sequel. yeah it wasn't great but it did have potential.

I've seen discussion of Sonic Robo Blast 2 here, so I figured this was the right place to post this, if not let me know.

Recently there's been some quote on quote "drama" on the official forums for SRB2, more specifically over the removal of the developer Mystic who was removed for "unacceptable behavior including antagonizing a modder and baselessly accusing a fellow community member of using a private Discord server to hide other groomers." (archive) I don't know much else about Mystic, besides that he supposedly also liked loli, as degenerates do, but that's not the big development here.

What has resulted from this however, is a circlejerk of massive proportions the Mystic removal thread. You see, Mystic "fostered a toxic culture in the SRB2 community" by daring to make fun of kid's shitty mods. He also used the dreaded Nigger and Tranny words. There's a tiny scrap of reasonable thinking in the beginning of the thread, but as you would expect, several developers, ex-developers, and moderators have also joined in the circlejerk.

All of this autism over a sonic fangame, nothing else generates as much autism as the sonic fanbase.

Don't know if this belongs here, but it's sonic related. There's a guy trying to pitch his Sonic cartoon to Sega.

Frankly, I don't think it's gonna get picked up. I'll give him credit for sticking to some of Sega's stuff, like the character direction of Forces, but it leans too much into Classics era.

Question for the Sonic fan base on here. Do any of you know the state of Infinite at the moment? I remember hearing on a Dillin Thomas video that he got blacklisted as a character. I know he is getting a plush soon, so hopefully that goes against the notion. The character had potential and a great design, I hope he does not end up as an unused character. The dude is better than Zavok, who they are still keen on promoting as a big antagonist for some reason.

After trying to look more into this and niggertranny aside, I think the reason for that was the fact that Mystic was a genuine twat in a position of leader that seemed averse to change and kept the devs from progressing since he would veto a lot of things they'd bring to the table. There's a reason why the game was crappy for 15 years and its biggest update by far was stuck in dev hell for so long until now. It's likely exaggerated to say that he was the only cause for it (especially since other banned devs are involved in the drama), but then again the levels in SRB2 that are his are absolute trash and he apparently contributed little to the huge update I'm talking about

topic about ken penders.

you all know the weird covers he did for archie's sonic comics right? like this?

the cover i'm showing is considered to be one of The Worst stories for archie's sonic the hedgehog comic series.

also, the kids in the cover are ken penders' son and niece.

and game grumps laughed so hard about it while looking at them on mega collection plus.

Probally powerleveling but I started reading the new comics and Tangle and Whisper are pretty good characters (Whisper especially), I haven't read the Archie comics though so I don't know how they compare but they seem to fit well into the Sonic universe, not sure about the games though since Whisper is a sniper rather than someone who runs fast (Although I think they also have a grappling gun like effect which might be an interesting game mechanic).

All I have to say is that if there is a Sonic Mania, which Sega would be crazy not to make but retarded enough to ruin it, I demand a Toxic Cave zone and a Rusty Ruin zone.

The duo behind Mania split up. The "main guy" went off to start his own studio called Evening Star and the other guy ran a Kickstarter a while back for something that ended up not getting funded IIRC. I believe the deal they ended up making with Sega meant no cut of the sales, so it was just a one-off job in addition to coming back to work on Plus.

I think they hit it out of the park with Mania and should probably leave it there. I'd be afraid of Sega meddling with the sequel. Also, outside of a few levels I'm not sure there's much left to pull from. Getting a SEGA-sanctioned Dust Hill Zone in a Sonic game was good enough for me. Although maybe we could finally get Genocide City Zone.
