Sonic CD was pretty bad ass. Awesome levels and a great soundtrack.

I played this at a friend's house for free when it came out because he had Sega Channel. It was the slowest Sonic video game ever. The levels felt like the outside of an office complex or an outdoor shopping mall. The graphics looked like an attempt to mimic Donkey Kong Country, but somehow not as cool. Chris Chan had a poster of this game on his wall for years.
I never understood the music in this game. Those fucking songs sound less like a Sonic game and more like the kind of garbage that gets play at night in the crappy resorts your grand-parents go to because they can't afford anything better.
Sonic R is a good game
Sonic R was a bad game becuase it had horrible controls, but in retrospect it was pretty good for soundtrack and idea. You had weather mechanics that changed constantly including winter, rain, summer, night, day, sunset? The list can really go on how much variety for the game's stages. The music was also not so bad, it was made by a british singer called TJ Davis and Richard Jaques, and I heard Jaques previous work in other SEGA games and he's not so bad than what everyone believes. But the game is bland, horrible direction, and just horrible controls.
Just like usual, SEGA makes terrible sonic games but great sonic music.
Track design looks pretty interesting, even through every course is broken. What's with the missing textures on the floor, though? Is that an emulation glitch or was the original that buggy?
