Seriously though for as jank as the physics of those games are they're still fun to play through
Nuh-uh.
and don't have a shit plot even if it's a simple one.
Sonic 06's plot isn't shit, it just has some wrinkles that need to be ironed out. Mainly the stupid amount of times Elise is kidnapped, Tails and Knuckles barely doing anything, and a few of the Chaos Emeralds being caught in time paradoxes. Shadow and Silver's plots are mostly alright.
Hatsun the Pigeon and Sonic Man greatly improved Sonic 06's story.

A few of the Soleanna NPC's have their own side-stories similar to the ones in Unleashed, but they're not as interesting. One is about a mother whose kid ran from home years back and over the course of the main story he returns after hearing there's trouble in Soleanna.
I wouldn't say the NPCs are much more interesting in Unleashed. Though the 06 NPCs do suffer I think from the photo-realistic artstyle causing them all to look samey and blend together. Unleashed's NPCs look like knock-off Pixar characters and I don't think they fit in with Sonic characters very well, but they are distinct and easy to remember.

SA-SA2's human characters were the best in terms of matching with the sonic characters stylistically IMO. You can see a progression as well between the two in a way that seems more like a graphical update than a severe redesign even if the SA2 ones are more realistic and less anime in some textural aspects.

I measure human designs by how normal they look next to guys like robotnik/eggman. If they match up with him well enough stylisitcally then it works. You know because he's supposed to be just a guy.

EDIT: another good example of human characters looking fine stylistically in terms of pairing up with the rest oft he sonic guys is that one short animation they did way back in the day. Though it more or less just looks like standard 90s WB animaniacs style of stuff it still works.

Elise kissing Sonic to resurrect him in front of everyone, including Amy, should also be axed/reworked.

Sonic is one of the bigger cases I've seen of an entire franchise peaking in high school.
They'll never get over 06, kek. Although Sonic Forces is also a complete failure in a different form. Worse, it was used to standarize the Mobian* shape and making everyone look the same.
Oh, and that Sonic manga about a kid with a magic sword continues to rock compared to IDW Sonic even though it's standard shonen fare.

*Or whatever name will these critters be given, if any. I believe I read "Islanders" being said by fans, but that's lame.

Oh no, what did I miss?
Nothing serious. Just Ian Flynn personally doesn't like Sonic x Amy because he doesn't ship them and thinks they have a toxic relationship that needs to be concluded with either getting together or Sonic rejecting her, but Sega won't let him go so far as to change the status quo like that, so him and some other American writers just try their best to never have Amy bring up her crush on Sonic. The Japanese side of things hasn't changed their stance on things, but Flynn got to write the English scripts to the last couple 3D Sonic games.

Oh that one. Yeah I remember that one. I thought they did something else again to ruin fun in a cartoon series. Seriously, what's not fun about a cartoon hedgehog romance that they need to ruin the fun for everyone else?

Not just Flynn, the latest Sonic show (the Netflix Prime one) also had Amy pretty much ignore Sonic, but that one probably doesn't count as it's Niggerflix. Chances are the new live action movie will also have strong woman Amy ignoring Sanic, we'll see. Still, it's true: Sonic Gen remake and Sonic Frontier had Amy become bland as the standard Western show female character (except for a few lines from the OG script they forgot to remove where Amy is still acting thirsty towards Sonic). I think The Bad Guys 2 was one of the few shows of the West last year to show an hetero and happy romance. Even Zootopia 2 pretty much shits on Nick due to being a honorary white male.

Also, probably unrelated, but Ian is allegedly married to another writer, but I don't recall if it was ever mentioned if he has/had children, while Ken Penders does have a family despite being a scumbag of a person (and also a terrible writer with leftist bias, if not as insane as later ones)

Speaking of Elise and wrinkles…, relatively speaking, she should’ve been older than her projected age.

I don't believe this is the most likely outcome. (At least with her Ignoring Sanic. She'll be more frustrated by him and his antics.)

What will most likely happen are these two scenarios:

1 (Realistic): Amy is a stoic and badass girlboss, while Sonic falls overhimself to an embarrassing degree to impress her and is head over heels for her.

Evidence:

  • Modern Hollywood is updating problematic girls to the new standard trend.
  • Amy's appearance is all about putting Sonic and Metal Sonic down a few pegs to prop her up.
    • Sonic is put in a weaker position, but in action and through staging. Sonic is shown to both job, to Metal Sonics (even worse if you cope that these are weaker copies showing how weak Sonic is). But staging, he is shown lower, weaker, helpless position BELOW Amy whom shows up and easily dispatches of all the enemies Sonic was struggling with.
    • Sonic is awestruck by her power is emblematic of running tropes prevalent during 2010s-2020s of the powerful female replacements/partners/mentors/etc... that come at the cost of all other characters.
      • Examples of this are but not limited to:
        • Rey, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Bo Peep, Captain Marvel, Korra, Princess Peach, Mad Max, Gears of War, and many many more.
  • Ian Flynn's influence and need to make every female character written the exact same. And his history of disliking what made Amy and Sonic's relationship unique. (It being one-sided. With Sonic, only comfortable around her when they are just friends.)
  • Her introduction and characterization was most likely written 2023 or early 2024 both very steeped in the "woke era".
  • She will be a team of 1.
    • As or more powerful than Knuckles.
    • Just as fast as Sonic.
    • Street smart and a better planner than Tails.
  • She will at one point have the ability to end the movie and beat the bad guy that is only stopped by Sonic's foolishness or his bumbling trying to impress her. He'll eventually win her over by deciding she doesn't need his help, but his friendship and that he needs to learn to take orders from others and not be the leader all the time.

2 (Optimistic): Amy's characterization is currently being retooled to be more tolerable or have less screen presence due to "Woke = Broke | Girlboss = flop" trends for movies, especially.

Evidence:

  • Paramount has a track record of listening to fans' concerns/critiques when it comes to Sonic movies.
    • They redesigned Sonic
    • They focused more and more on Sonic characters as the movies were released. (Less human side plots).
    • They kept Shadow's tragic backstory.
    • They have acknowledged the benefits of doing all the above again and again. Thanking fans for their guidance.
    • (Only risk/issue here is that Ian could constantly tell them that the fans WANT girlboss Amy and that people complaining are a minority. They may defer to him.)
  • There has been a noticeable trend of female-centric movies that have failed across the industry. So much so I won't even list any examples, I know you know.
  • Paramount needs to play their boy-centric film SAFE as they NEED the money for purchases like Netflix and keeping the lights on while running money sinks like Paramount+.
  • ESG funding is dried up.
  • We live in the beginning of the outspoken Anti-Woke era.
    • Fan boycotts work now. (Thank Tiktok and X for making it cool to take fans' advice and NOT watch things.)
    • The concept of "all press is good press" is dead. (Thank you, Ghostbusters, Gilet, Crackerbarrel and Budweiser, for breaking the mold on that.)
    • Movies that tried to subvert fan expectations have had a track record of consistent flops.
    • Modern Audience myth has been thoroughly debunked.
  • This is a franchise Paramount can't afford to fuck-up as they want it to be a massive cinematic universe with Shows, Movies, toys, etc...

Some additional worst things to happen, no matter the direction, in my opinion, are:

  • Amy Super Form (fucking horrible idea. Destroys her character even more, and makes Shadow's dualality with Sonic less important).
  • Amy straight up has magical powers (tarot cards).
  • Amy's powerlevel is now (Stronger than Knuckles, As fast as Sonic, Just as smart as Tails).
  • Amy continues to be artifically pushed into Team Sonic's friendgroup and CORE 4 ideas continue.
    • Sonic Origins +, Sonic Superstars, (Both HEAVILY marketed Amy as CORE 4 and relied on her being playable to get sales during marketing and in the story (with only Amy's connection to Trip being anything story relevant the group does in the game) both flopped spectactually. [ie: Amy fans DON'T play Sonic games].
    • Sonic Frontiers, (her section is reguarded as the worst writing wise and everyone felt OOC during it. Additionally, pushed her as a Magical girl with Tarot cards and riding her hammer like a witch).
  • SonAmy is made canon explicitly. (Ruins their unique dynamic, makes both more boring, and permanently makes Sonic written OOC to be attached to her by the hip.)
  • The entire runtime and story is mainly centered around her and her connections to Eggman and Metal. (Knuckles and Tails have even less to do than they did in Sonic 3).

If this movie Fails we will have to look for Chadow's film to save the franchise, just like he is reigniting interest in the games.

What we need to do is be outspoken about how much we'll hate this direction and how we'd tell everyone NOT to watch the film if we get a whiff of this shit happening in the movie.

Well, it's a surprise indeed that Team Sonic remembered about the C-Team. For a podcast, of all things, likely because it's cheap.

They are technically in the movie-verse (via the prequel comic for Sonic 2), but I can't see them appearing in the next film.

Not sure if this warrants a post, but it's related to the franchise at least. The Chaotix are getting their own narrative podcast.

I think this is a great concept (the writing team and the O.K KO guy being a part of it not so much). Especially in the age of Investigation/True Crime Podcasts being huge.

Would love it if the Chaotix started talking conspiracies like:
  • G.U.N's involvement with the ARK
  • Project Shadow conspiracies, (Gerald's visit to Angel Island, Gizoid, Artifical Chaos, etc...)
  • If Gerald was a good guy or not debate.
  • Orgins of the Gizoids (maybe a Chronicles reference).
  • Have Sticks on as a conspiracy theorist guest (if Frontier's one line about her makes her canon).
  • Have people troll call in.
  • Expand on the lore
  • Question strange lore parts: (Why is Silver here? What is the future like? How can Blaze freely travel between dimensions? If the chaos emeralds are from space where did the master emerald come from? etc...)
  • etc...
All of this wishful thinking, it'll probably be:
  • Random stories
  • Heroes nostalgia
  • Vector is a Bum (Poor)
  • Vanilla X Vector bait with maybe Cream calling in.
  • Tails Tube essientially.
