YOU SET AN AMAZING PRECEDENT, SEGA. YOU COULD'VE BEEN A TRAILBLAZER BY PUTTING THE FRANCHISE IN THE HANDS OF COMPETENT FANS AND ONE-UPPED NOT ONLY NINTENDO, BUT THE ENTIRE GODDAMN VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY. BUT "no, we're not doing that again because how dare the baka gaijin outdo us?!" SEGA is so retardedly headstrong, it baffles me.
To be fair, after the disaster that was the FNAF Fanverse Initiative I can see why the industry doesn't want to attempt this anymore. Whitehead might've shown the world how good it is when it goes right, but Cawthon showed the world how likely it is to go horribly wrong.

Silver would give Sega options to explore in a game if they bothered, same as Blaze to some extent, but they won't bother. I wasn't talking about Silver's personality nor feats because he's fixated on the "must save the future" thing and that's it.
It is because Silver-stans are the most delusional people in the Sonic franchise. Here is a short explaination of why.

Any other character in Sonic would be a better choice for a spin-off game.

1. Sega already has many options for games with Characters and Teams that allow for world-building, different game design (compared to standard Sonic fare), and not being tied to one of the worst characters in their franchise.
  • Team Dark game
  • Shadow solo games
  • Rouge's Sly Cooper / Stealth hiest games
  • Blaze (Sol dimension) game
  • Omega Robot battle game
  • Knuckles' treasure hunt / exploration/ metriodvania game.
  • Cream Chao garden game.
  • etc...

In your weak response, you tried to drag down a better character, Blaze, insinuating she has less than Silver's potiential for worldbuilding/game. (Like all Silver fans do)

2. Of course, a Silver fan has to drag down Blaze to put their dogshit character over. "Same as Blaze to some extent". It is not enough for Silver-stans to appluad him stealing her main villian (Eggman Nega), make her backstory worse just to tie her to him, write her out of character to put those two in the same room, and shackle her to Silver like a ball and chain wanting fans to ask, "When Blaze shows up you should ask WHERES SILVER?"

Blaze actually had her own:
  1. Supporting cast (Captain Whisker, Johnny, Eggman Nega, Marine, Cream, Vanilla, her subjects, etc).
  2. Her own Dimension that only enhances Sonic's world/story/
  3. Unique Backstory.
  4. An Actual Personality that fans don't need to pretend exists in fan media.
  5. Was a Core 4 protag along with Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and herself. All seen as Sonic's rivals.
  6. Amazing Theme Music that tells you about her as a character and the game surrounding the debut. (Similar to Knucles, Tails, Shadow, Sonic, Amy, etc... themes doing the same.)
Core 4.JPG

Silver:
  1. Supporting cast (
    1. Blaze? (Have to write her as an OOC orbiter to work)
    2. Amy? (She was only there for Sonic and doesn't know him)
    3. Espio? (Only evidence is Rivals 2 and he already has the Chaotix to hang around).
    4. ....Oh Oh maybe we can steal Sage from Sonic and friends to be ALL ABOUT Shitver! I saw some mid-fan art and now that headcanon is true in my mind! YEAR of SHITVER HERE WE COME!
  2. From the future (discount future Trunks)
    1. We know nothing about it.
      1. Statements are constantly contradictory (Peaceful, yet the 7 Deadly six are still ranpaging if we believe Rivals 2 and Crossroads statements) and to learn more about it just diminishes what the present Sonic squad is doing since we already know how it ends.
  3. Backstory is Future Trunks but far far worse.
  4. Personality is a wet paper bag, and it is constantly has to be headcanoned to be something it's not with Fanfiction, Fan art, and outside sources that made him in people's mind an adorkable GOOFBALL personality.
  5. Tried to rip off Shadow's debut with his mysterious intro and starting out as against Sonic. Insert himself the Hedgehog's duality to be a Trinity Core 3. If he was NOT a hedgehog with a superform we'd remember him as much as Tripp.
  6. His Main Theme has nothing to do with Silver, and is about a gay breakup. (If Silver was made gay this would make more sense. Especially with how the fans' rewrite his personality).
"Originally, I wrote 'Dreams' about a bad ex-boyfriend who wanted to get back with me, and I couldn't shake off the past, and I was in this weird grey area that I didn't know if I wanted to move forward together anymore. Scandal! 'Dreams' was written about a gay love story!"

tldr: Every Silver fan demands that Blaze be his personal tard wrangler rather than her own protagonist.

What should we do about Silver then?

Dollar Store Trunks does not need a game.

He needs to be forgotten and if not that, then he needs to be REBOOTED completely.

Having a dogshit character from Sonic's worst game and the worst time to be a Sonic fan hanging on and randomly appearing in games like Forces for no reason.
Is just going to continue the worst trend of new Sonic fans who rewrite history and say things like:

06 was always good. 06 had potential; only bugs are the issues in it. Silver is core 3! etc...

I can go on about who/what kind of people do this but this post is enough for now.

Worst thing about Sonic is the lack of a proper Sonic Riders remaster. It's still one of the best racing games of all time
Holy shit yes I agree. I remember when it came out and people gave it bad reviews because they sucked and couldn't wrap their heads around the games mechanics. I mean, yeah they shouldn't have hidden them behind a menu you have to be afk to see, but still it wasn't that complex of a game.

Not a TRVE Sonic fan unless you've suffered through that godawful boss like the rest of us.
Unironically correct. The only way one can truly appreciate the highs that the Sonic franchise has is to make yourself suffer through the atrocious lows it is capable of reaching. Only then will you finally understand why Sonicfags are so fucking autistic.

Tell that to all the people pretending 06 is good. When all they've done it play P06 and watch "06 is underrated! Why 06 is secretly good!"
Example:

None of these people played this shit on OG hardware, was a Sonic fan during that horrible era, and had to deal with Sonic's public image going until the movies started.

To be fair, compared to the actual low lows of the Sonic franchise, Sonic 06 is just mediocre. I can name at least a dozen Sonic games I'd rather replay 06 over, some of which may be even games people will tell me are better than 06. Like Superstars, for instance.

P06 and it's consequences. I never understood where people were coming from when they said 06 could have been the magnum opus of the series if it was actually finished. In reality, it probably would have gotten mediocre reviews like Heroes and Shadow and people would still be memeing on the kiss scene anyway. At least the cult status it would end up getting would feel more earned on it's own merits instead of needing some third worlder to fix up the game enough for history revisionists to latch onto.

I'd rather play 06 over any Kishitmoto game. It may be one of the most jankiest games in the entire series, but it still has a lot of heart behind it that prevents me from full on hating it.

Ranking both Adventure games above 3&K and CD over 2 are....choices.

I inherently like the idea of 3D Sonic over 2D Sonic gameplay. I never loved the Genesis games I had (1, 2, and Spinball) that much growing up and only turned into a Sonic sperg when I played Adventure on my cousin's Dreamcast.

Sonic 06's problems was more than its bugs. Even if the game was functional on lunch, it's weird story, weird art direction, weird animations, weird melodrama, all compounded on top of those bugs. Sonic 06 would have been panned regardless if not more so. The other strange elements of the game were derided for sure, but the game's non-functional nature is what baffled people the most, and is always the first thing that is commented on before anything else. Without that buffer, I think the series's image would have suffered even further. The game being broke to start probably saved Sonic from an even worse fate.

The point he was making that people think Sonic 06 is "good" based on the rework/mod, not the original release that people bought and SEGA sold twenty years ago.

Sonic 06, to me, is more disappointing than outright "bad" because of its various glitches and rushed, unfinished state. Yes, it's bad because of what I mentioned and what is documented. But, it's bad in an absurd way because of its bugs and glitches.

I remember reading that all of this can be pinned back to the decision to work on 06 and Secret Rings at the same time since SEGA committed to the Nintendo Wii, apparently without knowing the specs of the hardware*. Basically, if we didn't get Secret Rings, 06 may have had a better chance of being good.

*I remember reading this somewhere, but I don't remember where from, I'd have to do another search for it.

Was there more context between Elise and Sonic's romance in '06, like a comic or something that released with the game? With the way they interact, you'd think they knew each other for a lot longer than is shown.

42. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I
43. Knuckles' Chaotix
These being in the terrible category instead of 06 makes me want to skin someone and then throw the skin in a blender and then pour it on the crops and then put salt on the crops and then DESTROYT HE CITY

Seriously though for as jank as the physics of those games are they're still fun to play through and don't have a shit plot even if it's a simple one.

No they literally just meet for the first time in 06 it's that bad.

No, that is true. Sega tried to make Sonic 06 for the Wii as well. But, SEGA wanted it out in time for the PlayStation 3, so SEGA split Sonic Team into two back then.

Hatsun the Pigeon and Sonic Man greatly improved Sonic 06's story.

A few of the Soleanna NPC's have their own side-stories similar to the ones in Unleashed, but they're not as interesting. One is about a mother whose kid ran from home years back and over the course of the main story he returns after hearing there's trouble in Soleanna.
