He can just shrink the Master Emerald, no?
That only happens in adventure 2 and isn't even addressed. Most games he's just lugging it around. Already mentioned that lmao.

But more than anyone else, Knuckles suffered from the addition of other characters, especially rival/edgy ones - he and Metal were enough for Sonic (and Sonic 3 concept art/game design docs had him clearly designated as "Rival' even when he was once a hedgehog...) in terms of direct and equally-powered opponents. I also don't buy he needs to be on the Floating Island all the time story-wise. Even if you gotta justify it that he hides the Master Emerald or Rogue can't gun for the emerald all the time or whatever, it's just.... a gameplay thing. He pops down to help Sonic and co. That's all you gotta say.
Metal sonic got shit a lot worse than knuckles, especially the last several years. I rambled about that before but like this is a character who's literally "mr steal your girl" in his premiere game, leaves a bunch of holograms of himself stomping a squirrel on the head around to taunt sonic, and even does the cheeky fucking title screen finger wag before you race him. Also you can't even fucking hurt him normally like most bosses. Guy was debatably more of a menace than the S3&K mecha sonic, but unlike mecha sonic he came back for more games. And was also a fucking menace in those up until sometime after heroes. Since then he's just been "yeah that sonic robot eggman made" save for that mania animation they did a few years ago I guess.

People that cover vidya nowadays act like he's some kind of super cold emotionless thing when his whole deal is actually something similar to what Shadow has going thematically of "guy that looks like sonic and has similar shit in his personalituy but is NOT sonic". Unlike Shadow though, metal was MADE to look like and beat sonic and he gains a complex about that eventually to the point where in heroes he thinks making himself stronger makes him the "real" sonic, only to get his ass handed to him anyways.

Was this a recent video too? Pointing out that shadow looks nothing like Sonic in 2025 is like pointing out how Sonic 06 was le bad game. People will just parrot the same shit over and over again simply because they heard it before, despite the fact its been like 20+ years and we have new information to go off from. And in terms of changes being made during development and not fitting with the current context, SA2 was certainly not the worst offender of this at the time. For example, the last level of Halo Combat Evolved is infamous for being a mess of non sequitur dialog as a result of last minute changes being made. A weird comparison to make, but it's a good example of how people will tend to nit pick anything Sonic related to death but other franchises who done it worse get left alone. I'm pretty sure the main reason for that is because people find Sonic weird.
Recent video yeah, but the terios thing is actually fun/cool trivia that only recently the last few years got bugman-ified. Also my point wasnt about new developer information but rather the fact SHADOW IS LITERALLY BLACK SUPER SONIC. THEY HAVE THEM SIDE BY SIDE IN A CUTSCENE WITH NEARLY IDENTICAL MODELS. THIS CUTSCENE SHOWS UP IN EVERY FUCKING REVIEW.

It's more background details/contextual than something ever directly indicated, but Shadow was definitely the trigger. During the Metal Overlord bossfight, he makes mention how "not even the Ultimate Lifeform can stop [him] now."

Eggman saving Shadow to use him as a template for the Shadow Androids, meant Metal was no longer needed. Shadow Androids were on par with, if not superior, to Sonic if you assume the non-canon endings of the Shadow game are plausible. Eggman's Metal Sonic couldn't use Chaos Control, among other things.

Metal rebuilt himself through his own efforts to exceed even his replacement. If he could surpass the 'Ultimate Lifeform', he could surpass Sonic, and if surpasses the organic Sonic, well, he was more worthy to bear the name alone. Hence why he collected data on Shadow, Chaos, and Sonic.

But that's just my pet theory.

Metal literally locked Eggman in the room with the shadow androids and gave himself shadow's stripes that shit was 100% a catalyst for the shit that went down in the game.

Also since he was absent for the events of SA1 and SA2 (in the little stasis/repair tube thing) he likely had no fucking idea who the fuck shadow was when he came out of there and doesnt really know jack shit about him so his gaslighting of "oh shadow you have no past stop trying to find it lmao" while disguised as eggman is him just fucking hoping nobody notices it's weird.

Im no sonic expert but isnt the implication of the story that GUN is tailing Sonic for other reasons? Like that it's some sort of cover up? Or is that fanon like the biolizard based off chaos thing?

The trailer narration for the hero story says sonic was mistaken for someone else, and sonic acts as if that's the case because that's what it looks like from his perspective. If you play the game from the other campaign it becomes ridiculously clear it's a glowie cover-up to hide shadow's existence from the public.

The story never implies it, that's largely fanon conjecture mixing with Sonic X's SA2 story arc. Being a 2000's Sonic Team story, I don't think there's any deeper meaning to Sonic being mistaken for Shadow. Kojima, the writers at Sonic Team are not, as such the actions of GUN in SA2 don't make a lot of sense in the game's own timeline.

When Radical Highway takes place, Sonic is still being pursued by GUN for being a "deserter" (assuming City Escape is meant to take the course of a whole day) despite it being rather clear a different 'Sonic' is being pursued simultaneously after stealing a Chaos Emerald.

City escape takes place during the day, radical highway takes place at night. Sonic X has fuckall todo with the feds actively scrubbing all proof of shadows existence beyond the "failed prototype" and some other vague documents while having him on ice in a high security military base eggman broke into at the start of SA2 thinking he was going to find a super powerful monster or some shit only to be met with a guy that looked like sonic. They always knew it was shadow. They wouldn't think it was sonic because they literally had their three letter glowie people GUARDING the actual shadow. The public do not know who the fuck shadow is, but they know who sonic is, so the glowniggers made sonic the "culprit" they were after.

It's still retarded, especially after the mayor of an random city hands Tails an Chaos Emerald and the feds are after him for being next to Sonic with it.
It wasn't a random city, it was station square from SA1 for helping stop eggman's autistic fit of rage where he tried nuking the city after failing his initial plans, only to realize it dodn't detonate and trying to manually detonate it himself which would have just fucking killed himself and everyone else.

Of course the city got fucking FLOODED AND WRECKED by chaos in the time between then and the giving of the emerald, but it's the thought that counts I guess.

I tried to play this on my switch 2 and got sensory overload very quickly, the game is noisy as fuck, and I felt as if someone was rapidly turning a flashlight on and off in front of my face when playing it (the 30fps was probably a big factor in that). It's a lot like Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, which is also extremely noisy and overly colorful.
I assume they will add this in the release but there has to be a better way to change the camera. Like maybe some FOV options but then again this is Sega so i doubt it. I kept getting annoyed while playing as Storm with Extreme Gear that i can't see what is in front of me on the track because his bulky ass is 25% of the screen.

Wait, doesn't he have remote-controlled robots for this?
They were probably on the giant flying carrier that just crashed. Beside, the doctor was not operating with a full deck by this point.

For all the ridiculous lines in SA1, the scene @The Lawgiver posted and the ensuing boss battle is Bristow's best performance as Eggman IMO. I say that as someone who loves his more subdued voice in SA2. I don't think Eggman has ever sounded so done.

so @NerdShamer and @The Lawgiver today is the 28th anniversary of the sega dreamcast's release in the US. and i still think sonic adventure 1 and 2 are great games, hell they're among the best selling games for the system. sonic adventure is the number 1 best- selling game for the dreamcast.

i've been gettting some good games and some that are underrated. the dreamcast was truly cutting edge for it's time. but unfortunately, it couldn't last long, when the playstation 2 came out, it basically killed the dreamcast. not only that, competiton was racking up as nintendo released the gamecube and game boy advance and microsoft entered the market with the xbox. it got to a point where sega could no longer afford to keep going as a console developer and became third party.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that both of the Adventure games are mostly good. But it also says an lot about Sega since they haven't managed to replicate that success in over 20 years.

I know I pointed this out at some point in this thread before, but I was just thinking again about how weirdly prevalent this one song is throughout the entirety of the sonic games.
I think what really stuck out to me usage wise was how it shows up heavily redone as the theme of crazy gadget, given the nature of that stage's whole "plot beat" kind of also being an echo of CD.
I don't think it comes up re-arranged as much as it used to, closest thing we've gotten the last like over a decade is remixes of the various versions unless there's one I missed. (likely probability)
