Udon's Mega Man line

I've always wondered how Udon stays in business. I have never once seen a single Udon comic at a comic store. I remember in middle school reading about the Street Fighter comic online and used to look for it at stores and I never fuckin' found a single goddamned issue. I did eventually run into and buy their mega man manga volumes at a regular bookstore when I was older and those were coming out, but what fuckin' gives? I never saw collections of that street fighter shit at the bookstore. how the fuck have they been in business 20 years? I even remember asking the old fat faggot who ran the comic store if he had ever seen the street fighter book and he said no, besides the shitty 90s Malibu one (which I did buy all 3 issues of back then). I've been seeing pictures of their Artbooks from Mega Man and SF online for years and also never seen a copy of those in a bookstore or a game or comic store.

I used to find weird niche shit all the time but this apparently successful enough to run since 2003 in various mini series forms comic I have never once seen.

As goofy and insane as the archie shit was the actual official game lore reason for him being called eggman once the dreamcast games hit globally is honestly one of the smoothest integrations (and technically one of the only integrations) I've seen accomplished in media. His real name is just canonically Ivo Robotnik and eggman is just his nickname that he made his brand after putting up with Sonic's bullshit name calling for an unspoken amount of years. Despite this he still gets caught offguard at being called a "giant talking egg" and gets fucking pissed anyways despite going by Eggman. I probably rambled about this earlier. (said that like 3 different recent posts now but hey I'm just getting over being really fucking sick the last week.)

In terms of Games media adaptations/localizations/whatever the fuck you wanna call went on with sonic's lore we're probably never going to see anything like it again. You had 2 TV shows and 2 regional comics based loosely on some weird localization lore shit they didn't even implement in the actual games beyond inconsistent character name changes, the OVA/anime movie where stuff was almost identical to the actual games characterization wise but the lore was fucking wack there too (Shown but not mentioned post apocalypse NYC, America only country to survive unseen ancient cataclysm via literal jetsons sky cities, presidents daughter may or may not be DBZ saiyan), and then the actual games bringing it up to like 5 continuities. Technically 7 or 8 if you also include the promo mangas and notoriously failed show sonic underground in there. Wouldn't have it any less crazy. As a small ass kid despite kinda knowing all that shit wasn't connected to some extent I'd try and like figure out how the fuck it'd be considering there's like almost all the same characters but in slightly different artstyles between all of those.

Mildly bothers me in retrospect though how the movie/OVA was the only one of the fucking things for a while that had Tails' child prodigy mechanic aspect shown off in any significant capacity. I could be misremembering this but I think there were like maybe one or 2 moments in the fucking looney tunes ass AoSTH as well but that's about fuck all you got. I can't remember if he even fucking FLEW in SATAM my fucking entire memory of him in that is either him whinging about some shit or him being told the "scary bedtime story" that's a thinly veiled dick joke slipped in by the writers that one time.

I did too lol I think my personal explanation was that AoStH happened first and was Sonic just fucking around with tails, then Robotnik got sick of his shit and went crazy and SatAM followed, the genesis games happened somewhere in there, then the Movie, and then eventually they got shit out into the Sonic X world and SA/2 happened there because the show loosely followed them. I excluded underground because it was never on any channels I had so my only exposure to it was knowing it existed, and renting the one VHS release of it one time with my sister. I considered the archie comic an alternate timeline where all the games happened but had nothing to do with the animated stuff.

The Ask Ian segment on his Bumblekast podcast is a goldmine for him, why stop when people are paying him to ask questions about obscure Archie or IDW characters just so he can come up with an easy answer on the spot? Without Sonic there's not particularly much he's known for in the mainstream.
