The dumbest thing in the video is the propagation of the "reeee niggers are twice as likely to be shot" lie.
 
Sonic and Lego combining is that special meme worthy double-tism you only see once in a blue moon culturally. Saw that Knuckles lego mech that's not supposed to come out till some point next year in stores today and almost got it, but held off. I'll get it eventually because it's funny as shit to me that the one thing not directly based on anything from the games is the Knuckles set where he gets a mech shaped like boom knuckles and Rouge has a HAMAS hang glider to steal the emerald with. All the other lego sonic stuff is par for the course stuff like "sonic and tails with the tornado" or "sonic and a little loop you can shoot him through"or "amy and tails with a chunk of some green hill-esque landscape" or "death egg robot from sonic 2" . Weirdly one place had it for 37 dollars and another place had it for 34.

The constant erasure of Knuckles' mesoamerican heritage-inspired character background has been remarkable since everyone has him clocked as 'black' for being naive, quick-to-anger, and not particularly bright.

Now, Shadow, on the other hand, is a real brotha'.

I did not ask for these, I didn't even know this was a thing to begin with. I open the box and the pieces are so fucking tiny and come in 3 bags. These things are a "spend a few hours to almost a day of your time putting this shit together" kind of project.

Nanoblock is a special hell but the end results sometimes kinda look cool. remember like 1 or 2 years ago during a lull in lockdown hell a friend who lives like a state or 2 over visited me and we got an offbrand nanoblock called LOZ that had some licenses somehow in what was weirdly very clearly not a normal bootleg kinda way from a local shop as something to do while hanging out. It ended up eating like several hours even moreso than these nanoblok models would. I only know this because I also bought an actual nanoblock set around this size and built it myself in the span of like 10-30 minutes before moving on to helping him with the crazy nightmare that was One Piece LOZ. Both LOZ and nanoblock apparently have the one piece license somehow. I had to look up "one piece nanoblock" to find the thing and remember the brand was LOZ shit to begin with, but I found out the LOZ guys also make larger models than the ones we got that are closer to the characters in appearance and it just looks like it'd eat like 2 or 3 days. Like I understand Lego and Nanoblock both having the license to sonic due to the size and build difference but the Nanoblock and LOZ thing with the one piece stuff fucking baffles me.

How dark of "dark skin" are we talkinghere? Like original sA2 appearance tan or just straight up black? Probably the latter I'm guessing with the pooner scars thing.
That reminds me though Something I kinda miss from Sa2 that never carried over was a lot of the small bits of character detail that only existed on the in-game models for some reason. I mentioned the thing with shadow's armbands being more like weirdhigh tech strap things unlike the simple rings int he promo art before, but I don't think I mentioned the shit like him having a very slight grey-ish blue sheen. Shadows model and design itself is also just a fucking modified "modern" super sonic, something that even if you never saw anything but the recent sonic games you'd realize by looking at any footage of the final battle of both SA1 and SA2 where they're in their super forms. Despite this and sonic being the scapegoat for the blatant glowie cover-up of shadow's existence always kinda makes it weird when internet personality people non-jokingly call the plot shit because Shadow doesn't look like sonic. It's fucking sonic the hedgehog it's not rocket science.

Shadow Mario in Mario Sunshine from around the same time period has a little less of an excuse for "doesn't look the same but is mistaken for the other guy". They also explain that though with him only being shown in blurred bigfoot-esque sightings between his misdeeds by people before mario shows up.

Unfortunately, it's not the first time people made this mistake.
  • The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog - Pseudo Sonic is seen as the real sonic and people can't tell the difference even though he's a fucking robot.
  • Sonic OVA - Metal Sonic is seen as the real sonic by the old man owl thing guarding Sonic and Tails' home island (to be fair, he is fucking stupid though)
  • Sonic 06 - Amy pounces on Silver because she thought he was Sonic.

I don't think you even read what I said lmao. it's not a "mistake" that shadow gets mistaken as sonic by characters but a narrative thing. His design is literally just a black dreamcast era super sonic with different shoes and a tuft of messy chest hair.

Psuedo-sonic is a fucking looney tunes-esque joke and literally just looks like a fat sonic with sharp teeth and robot joints. AoSTH is not a serious show by any stretch.

Metal sonic in the OVA only gets mistaken as sonic by the comic relief old man because he literally shows up in the fucking dead of night solely to force the old man to wear "his" clothes. It's fucking pointed out in the actual fucking movie that the old dude just brushing it off as sonic acting odd was fucking stupid of him because he goes "ah yeah he just flew away haha" and everyone's like "HE FLEW AWAY?" because that shit should have made it extremely obviously not sonic.

Sonic 06 was trying to do a callback to the brief gag in Adventure 2 where amy mistakes shadow as sonic for a moment which is like the one actual stupid moment here because of the fact silver looks nothing like sonic, normal or super.

Well it doesn't help that Knuckles always has some kind of black rap OSTs when you play as him, they got to get some of that bong bong clop clop Olmec stuff in there.

Shadow is damn cool, edge needs to make a come back, it's time for Shadow with guns to make a return, I want as much angst as possible, add in as much rain for him to sit in to talk about how much his life sucks as possible.
 
2023's almost up. Think it's safe to say Sonic had another decent year, which is weird to say but also kind of nice for a change.
