Counter-point: other than Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters she appeared in all of jack shit in that era (Sonic Drift 1/2 don't count)

Also she was the damsel-in-distress in CD, you had to save her stupid ass on the way to fight the fat man
And in Sonic the Fighters, we only have seen Fang the Sniper and other forgotten characters.

My theory as to why they didn't do this is that htey didn't want to intrude on the Sonic/Amy relationship (what little there was) too much so having the love interest be a human girl instead of an anthro animal character makes it feel like iit doesn't count in some weird, unexplainable way.
The issue with that is that one of the side-quests in the game, I think it might be one of the Priest's tasks before you can get to Kingdom Valley, has you pick between Elise or Amy as your true love.

oh man I totally forgot about that
what a weird game

So Here we are, I'd like to say I was really enjoying the game since the level design is pretty decent. But, the final bosses in egg fortress zone are just a bunch of time wasters that I ever played. To much time is spent waiting for a opening that is pretty narrow and the game expects near perfection especially in the fang final boss fight in trips campaign. So, for instance if you get to fangs second phase If you then die you have to do it all over again with the tedious first phase. What also doesn't help this is that fang has multiple one hit KO attacks so your ass gets dragged back to start if you get hit by them. Overall, I wish the bosses were better as they really don't respect the players time. Lastly, I get wanting to have to more involved boss battles but, if they are un-fun and waste the players time Then, Just stick to what worked before like the genesis games bosses.

I finished Ares and Chaos Islands in Frontiers. Chaos Island is the worst island so far. Bar none. It felt like such a chore to complete. The bosses for both islands were still pretty cool, although with my buffed up attack/defense, they're easy as fuck.

To the surprise of nobody, Superstars has bugs

I have been playing a lot of Sonic Mania ever since getting my new controllers in. I got the new 6 button usb Big Genesis pad from Retro-Bit and the NeoGeo CD pad from 8bitdo and they are both awesome for platformers. I love pixel art games and sonic is really special to me I always just got a good happy feeling whenever I saw it in action as a kid. With the subtle updated graphical nuances from 1 to 2 to 3 and S+K. Now that I am an adult I can probably say the series was my favorite 16 bit franchise overall.

Mania is a really, really good tribute to those old games and I just don't have enough good things to say about it. Brings me right back to 1995

That last post may have had the same problem I did. During Trip’s Press Factory Act 2 boss, I went to the left side of the screen and randomly died. While super. With about 50 rings left. With no obstacles or attacks anywhere close to me. When the boss only had one or two hits left.

As far as 2D Sonic goes, this game is a fucking mess of bad design and no polish. I was looking forward to the great Mario vs. Sonic revival of 2023, but Wonder beats the everloving shit out of Superstars.

How did the GBA version of Sonic the Hedgehog mess up the sound compared to the original? I keep hearing "no sound chip," but that doesn't make sense.

The same reason everything else is messed up. It was rushed.
Yeah, I believe they just slapped the Advance soundfont on top of the soundtrack and called it a day

That GBA port has got to be the worst thing to ever come out of this franchise
Origins is a shitter mega collection, but at least it's functional

Sonic GBA was horrendously rushed to capitalize on the franchise's 15th anniversary at the time. Then again, Sonic 06 was also set to capitalize the 15th anniversary.

Worse... it was one Square Wave and one Noise channel. The Genesis sound effects were the only thing ported over to the GBA, and even then it wasn't all of them.

If you've ever played WarioWare GBA you'll know what I'm talking about. Some of the Microgames (specifically any of the "NES" ones) are just nothing but a Square Wave with MAYBE a beat or two.

Fun Fact: The Square Wave. the Saw Wave, and the Piano are the most common instruments used in MIDI files
