The new Sonic game will be a piece of shit no matter what unless it's given to the Mania team and they are already busy with their own game. New Guardian Heroes sounds interesting IF it means Treasure is still alive, but I also remember that Treasure avoided sequels like the plague and probably all of the soul of that company is already dead after a decade of nothing, so I can only assume it will be some crap that will look horrible since they will go 2.5D and made by one of the B teams at Sega (since outside of Yakuza, they only have B teams).

It's basically the 2D equivalent of Frontiers: Plays well, some mismatched ideas but with a decent base for future installments. It won't beat Mania for sheer technical achievement, but if you want a solid platformer you'll find one.

I would much rather see a thousand "Sonic falls in love with a human" stories over one more "Let's defeat Eggman with the POWAH OF FRIENDSHIP!!!"

My theory as to why they didn't do this is that htey didn't want to intrude on the Sonic/Amy relationship (what little there was) too much so having the love interest be a human girl instead of an anthro animal character makes it feel like iit doesn't count in some weird, unexplainable way.

Is this even a thing anymore? I feel like ever since Boom she's just been the generic token female of the group. I don't even see her be affectionate with Sonic in her classic form in any of the cutscenes she's in.

Classic Amy isn't affectionate with Classic Sonic because she didn't actually go after him until Sonic Adventure (and then start trying to rape him in Sonic Heroes).

She came to the little planet (Sonic CD) to find Sonic (she apparently divined his location from Tarot cards). She even hugs him at the end of the first level if you let her get close.

Counter-point: other than Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters she appeared in all of jack shit in that era (Sonic Drift 1/2 don't count)

Also she was the damsel-in-distress in CD, you had to save her stupid ass on the way to fight the fat man

Okay? You asserted that Classic Amy wasn't affectionate with Sonic and I pointed out that she was literally designed to be a Sonic fangirl. Then you made some point about her not appearing in many games before Adventure. I mean, you aren't wrong there but I don't see how that follows from what you said before?
