His hair is listed as "brown" in the wanted poster bio card in SA2 despite his 3d depictions being an even lighter orange than the classic games. Tails' color has been "brown" canonically despite his shift from orange to almost neon yellow with each game getting more yellow somehow. Tails' inconsistent color scheme one of the weirder bits of sonic game design things that's been known for a while unless everyone somehow forgot about it.Our fellow autists at Sonic Retro uncovered something interesting while one of them was hunting down SatAM preproduction materials:

An early version of the Tails sprite from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The reason he was brown in the 90s cartoons? That's what he actually looked like in Japan at one point:

The post with the development:
Don't forget the Marx brothers attempt to assasinate knuckles in this comic and tails nearly commits the sonic equivalent of the JFK shooting on Robotnik lmao.so guys. i'm gonna bring up Fleetway's Sonic The Comic series
View attachment 5105489
the series ran for 9 years. it began in 1993 and ended in 2002.
the fleetway series had some differences from archie comics. like amy rose. she was given the strong female personality trope. much like how peach got it in the super mario adventures comic book series and the movie.
the series had some decent villains besides robotnik, like metallix, grimer wormtongue, etc.
but one of the most known things sonic fans know about the fleetway series is the main villain. not robotnik. the other main villain.
before we had anti sonic who became scourge in the archie comic series and the creepypasta sonic.exe. we had a real evil sonic
Fleetway Super Sonic

he is in my opinion the best sonic the hedgehog comic book villain besides robotnik/eggman in all the comic book series. he's pretty much like broly from dragon ball. like broly, fleetway super sonic is a violent and destructive super powered being with pure, unrestrained, and sadistic rage.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=lIXjfssZStI a guy on youtube made a video talking about fleetway super sonic.
I wonder what's next, is Tails gonna do a 9/11 on Robotnik by crashing his own plane into the egg towers? Man, that would mean Mr. Enter would definitely Sonic comics that much.Don't forget the Marx brothers attempt to assasinate knuckles in this comic and tails nearly commits the sonic equivalent of the JFK shooting on Robotnik lmao.
It's amazing that it's even possible for a company like Sega to make a collection of four 25 year old games feel rushed and half baked, but here we are.I just found out Amy is playable in all 4 games in Sonic Origins Plus, so they knew people wanted that but held it back as DLC. SOP is just going to be what people originally expected. I'm just glad they did it at all though.
Being that the remaster of Sonic 3 was rushed and had some pretty weird problems for the original release I assume they were either already working on Amy, or had it planned and they just had to pull a Sega and rush another Sonic game to hell.I just found out Amy is playable in all 4 games in Sonic Origins Plus, so they knew people wanted that but held it back as DLC. I'm completely convinced working for/with Sega is a fucking nightmare in general. I can't think of one company that has had zero issues with them. From last minute "fly by the seat of your pants" decisions, to actual grudges/rivalries with other employees/departments, to assinine release dates, it's like Sega PURPOSEFULLY digs their own gravers/sinks their own ships but never takes accountability for it.Being that the remaster of Sonic 3 was rushed and had some pretty weird problems for the original release I assume they were either already working on Amy, or had it planned and they just had to pull a Sega and rush another Sonic game to hell.
A lot of big name companies (especially most video game companies) are completely ruthless with employeesI'm completely convinced working for/with Sega is a fucking nightmare in general. I mean the fact that CRUNCH is still a thing is proof of that already.A lot of big name companies (especially most video game companies) are completely ruthless with employees
I'm still not playing it.I just found out Amy is playable in all 4 games in Sonic Origins Plus, so they knew people wanted that but held it back as DLC. SOP is just going to be what people originally expected. I'm just glad they did it at all though.
If they dont bring the original OST for Sonic 3 i aint never touching that shitI'm still not playing it.
Don't be surprised when they actually don't because of licensing issues with the Michael Jackson company. If they dont bring the original OST for Sonic 3 i aint never touching that shit
It's been like, what... 20+ years now? Maybe more? How the hell has that shit not been resolved yet?Don't be surprised when they actually don't because of licensing issues with the Michael Jackson company.
the musicians that MJ delegated the task to are still alive, mostlyIt's been like, what... 20+ years now? Maybe more? How the hell has that shit not been resolved yet?
Which is why music industries are completely cutthroat with musicians and licensing, as with most of the media industrythe musicians that MJ delegated the task to are still alive, mostly
Brad Buxer and Cirocco Jones (maybe) won't give a shit and Doug Grisby III is dead
Bobby Brooks supposedly tried to sue 10+ years ago
Also people hacked the original release music back into the PC ports the day sonic oirigins came out
Saddest part about it is, they used to have at least the actual game-making part down to a T. So many stone-cold classics back in the 90s and early 2000s; SEGA was absolutely embarrassed in riches (and even then, their Japanese department fucked it up for everybody). Now all they have is Sonic, Yakuza, and Persona to keep them afloat.I'm completely convinced working for/with Sega is a fucking nightmare in general. Secondly, his opinion on Cream the Rabbit:I mean, I dunno. I’d say yes, but isn’t that what Sonic 4 was? And Sonic 4 is kind of this awful stain on the franchise. Sonic 4 Episode 2 was a lot better than Episode 1, but not so good as to erase the memory of how bad Episode 1 was, you know? I think there’s value in making games that are good. That’s blanket and vague I know, but I don’t see why a franchise like Sonic has to be specifically only 3D, or specifically only 2D, when you can make games in either style.
In particular, that’s one of the things that bugged me about Unleashed/Generations/etc. doing the “and now the camera switches to 2D mode!” stuff, because it felt less innovative and more like a compromise. And it became more and more obvious it was a compromise as they started leaning on it harder and harder and harder, to the point where I think Colors or Generations (and maybe even Forces?) are something like 75-80% in 2D mode. If they want to make a 2D game, do a fully 2D game. Stop going halfsies. Just make it good and worth playing. That’s all! I’d also rather play a full 3D game that doesn’t change its camera to 2D mode ever, at all!
She was originally invented to fill gaps. In gameplay terms, she was supposed to represent the “easiest mode” for very young children. I guess when the games moved away from that, they stopped having room for her. Like, IDW uses her, but that’s because IDW is a story first. They can slow down and have quieter, cuter moments, like when Rouge and Amy take her up to the lodge for the Chao Races. But the games would struggle with moments like that.
Especially considering Cream’s whole trait is that she’s young. That’s all she is to the games. She’s the young one. Tails and Amy are supposed to be young, too, but they get other traits to hang on to, ones that tie them more closely to Sonic. So they just get treated more like “part of the group” where ages don’t matter. But Cream is the baby. That’s her personality. She is the one that gets left behind for being too small and inexperienced to help. She is barely older than a toddler. And outside of Sonic Advance 2, where Sonic rescues her Mom at the end of the game, her ties to Sonic himself are tenuous.
And as The Baby, I guess she’s just not a demographic the games are chasing much these days. Maybe they will eventually, but not right now. And even in the comics, Cream is a “sometimes” character. She’s not part of the core team of Amy, Tails, Knuckles, etc. She gets pulled in when she would work in the story and fill a meaningful role, otherwise, the spotlight is somewhere else.
Ask yourself this: Would Sonic Forces have been a meaningfully better game if Cream had a role? Would Sonic Frontiers? Is there much room for her to have a worthwhile presence in Sonic Lost World? I’d rather them put her in places where she belongs rather than have a moment where the credits roll on Sonic Forces and I’m left shouting “BUT WHY IS SILVER HERE???” I don’t want to do that with Cream. And I’m glad I don’t have to.
