I don't think this one counts, but I've definitely seen them pull some shit.

I feel like I'm the only one who hates this aside from some randos on /sthg/.

The Peter death pose needs to stop being used everywhere (especially since it ruins the mood that the scene its in is suppose to set), but the latter two are fine to me honestly.

I agree "Big oof" is fine, on the grounds that just because Sonic doesn't really kill villains doesn't mean he has to actually be sad when one with no redeeming qualities dies.
Ian Flynn's overuse of unedited song lyrics as dialogue was past the point of being charming years ago, though. Having it once or twice is fine, like the "Hey big guy"/"Hey little guy" exchange between Sonic and Big. Having entire lines from more recognizable songs in what feels like every other issue, sometimes multiple times in the same panel, really outstays its welcome.

Having lines being replaced with song lyrics that don't really fit the current situation is pretty cringy, especially when you're doing it constantly. And "Big oof" is a weird underreaction to finding out someone died while also needlessly using meme humor to do so.

It's less that he didn't feel bad about it and more the meme speak. Even apathetically saying "oh well, that sucks" would've been better.

Trannies on Twitter and Tumblr are doing the exact same unfunny joke, usually using that meme with kids products

Would 'big whoop' have sufficed?

Yes. Something to convey the same idea without trying to force a joke.
Except the "oof" word has been more common for the zoomer/late-millennial generations.

I hope they do more April Fools stuff like the visual novel. That's way more appealing that "lol here's something cool you'll never play!!". That applies to everyone in the industry though, not just Sonic.

But saying oof is gay. Most forms of zoomer speak are gay.
Need I remind you that sonic is a franchise for children first-and-foremost? It doesn't matter if you like the phrase "oof" or not, you aren't the intended audience.

Sonic's gone from 90s "cool" to 20s "cool" :story:
And there lies the problem: Sonic constantly tries to be cool according to the current decade, which would disappoint fans of every former "era."

Eh, I've already seen it be done with Lovers of Aether.

But I used to be. If Sonic's not gonna be my Sonic, then maybe I should make my own Sonic. It worked for LakeFeperd, right? lol

Yeah, but Furry Smash Bros isn't Sonic The Hedgehog (also LoA took place in a high school while TMoSoH took place in a murder mystery party). Speaking of which, it would be cool if Sonic Team took a page from RoA's book and had the outfits from the VN being in the actual game.

If you go through with it, you better base the character's design on Shard.

A new early build of Sonic Adventure has been found, this one being a "tournament edition".

Mostly dropping this here for posterity sake. I'm all for preservation, but after looking at everything it has to offer, it's definitely a case of "who fucking cares?". It's little more than a 2 minute demo of the first level with the majority of the finished game in the files. That's it.

I somewhat agree with this but I really just wish they'd do a better job of separating these characters.
They did a great job at making a clear divide between classic era Sonic and Adventure Sonic when they were making the move to 3D but have essentially defaulted to putting the same Adventure Sonic in everything since instead of coming up with a redesign to fit a new direction for the character.
To put it another way, I'm fine with seeing Movie Sonic do Fortnite dances because that's clearly a different guy to me but if Sonic did the same thing in a new game it'd be more irritating because it just feels like they are making a thing I like worse.
To put it yet another way, Mario has been pretty much the same guy in all the mainline games but Nintendo does characterize him differently in spinoffs like Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi because they know it's different enough taht people will just sort of think of it as that specific version of Mario.

To add to this, Sonic's Multiple Personality Disorder that he's been suffering from with each new game also makes the other characters around him pointless outside of tails the genious mechanic, which even he's been affected by being a weakling when he used to be just as brave as sonic. Everyone just leans on and/or relies on sonic to do fucking everything because he's "that guy". Not even the mobile games gives the other characters any sort of uniqueness (outside of different stats and powerups in Runners Frontiers). At this point they are all just background noise and only appear when the writers need either some sort of forced conflict or issue that majority of the time relies on him rescuing them. That's not even getting into all the "villains of the day" in every game since Unleashed/06 that wind up being a pushover and then quickly forgotten about.
