If the game was truly being “woke”, it would ASK for your pronouns at the start. You’re hearing hooves and claiming zebras here.

Of all the current year trends, they/them has to be the most annoying. It sounds so unnatural and forced, especially since you’re expected to use plural words to describe a single person. I’d almost rather someone go by Xe.

Yes, they/them was previously used to describe unknown entities as a shorthand for “his or her”. It wasn’t used to describe someone standing three feet in front of you who you can clearly see and hear is either male or female. I can’t think of a single game made before the late 2010s where the player character isn’t male, female, or genderless (robot, etc). One probably exists, but fuck if I know it. Undertale/Deltarune falls into the genderless category since gender is never specified for any human, not just the player.

I could care less personally. Of all the current year nonsense to be upset about "They/Them" pronouns are low on that list.

The game was a cute little visual novel featuring Sonic Characters and that's about it.

Pretty good April Fools thing, I’d say. Free too.
 
All things considered, it’s still fun for a playthrough. Though either everyone was a bit OOC or I really haven’t paid attention to Sonic characterization in a long time. It felt like a fanfic that was made official, albeit a good one.

They did, Blaze specially imo, Shadow didnt feel like any previews version of himself, tho I did like him more than his IDW iteration.
