For all the fanfare SEGA made surrounding Sonic's gloves and shoes in Colours Ultimate, it's strange that they've barely done anything with Frontiers' potential for customisation besides throwing in the SA2 shoes, maybe as an afterthought after they worked out the Korone and Monster Hunter brand promotion.

SEGA had the Monster Hunter costume implemented in Frontiers by at least November 2021 (Given the game was originally intended to release then in time with the cross-promotion), so it's not as though throwing a bone to fans of Riders or even Jet Set Radio/Persona/Zelda would've been more difficult than the SA2 shoes.
Apparently, there's also a chrimas costume coming later as well.

Really, the shoes and gloves thing feels like a step down from the costumes in Forces, which is one thing I think Forces did right. Basically, I want to be able to put Sonic in ridiculous clothes like this:

Okay I finally finished Frontiers.

That last boss was...weird. It seemed way more like some sort of celebration of Sonic's history, way more than Generations ever felt. The music, the dialogue, it was great ngl. It was tough but fair.

Overall I think it was a good game. Definitely not masterpiece but it has the right idea and I think it executed it well. The story was, mostly, backstory and seems like setup for the next step in Sonic games. Sage is a bro, though.

I actually enjoyed the boss tho it is a bit long
How do you feel about the after credit scene with eggman tho?

I didn't feel it went on for too long, maybe it felt that way because of the difficulty? Dunno if you found it hard but I kinda suck and bullet hells.

The post credit scene was fine. Sage has a lot of potential as a character and I was sure she'd be back. Like I said, most of the story felt like set up for whatever is coming next. The origins of the emeralds was interesting and like Sonic put it "Now that I know it's aliens, I can roll with it. Now Sage is basically all that's left of the ancients so her coming back is understandable. Besides I enjoyed her character, it felt like a natural part of the cast. I would like to see her relationship with Eggman be fleshed out more though because I didn't fully buy the "daughter' vibes. In fact, I think Shadow can be a very interesting piece in this story the seem to be setting up.

In my honest opinion, the true Final Boss sucked. Played bullet hell shooters (Danmaku for the weebs) often back then, so I had no issues in terms of difficulty. But it was one of the changes that felt really out of place in a Sonic game. The relationship between Sage and Eggman was refreshing for his character, but it was a bit lackluster in execution. But that is a opportunity that really has potential. Regarding the Edgehog: I like him and his game finished his "past"-arc. He's just there now (like every other character in this franchise) and is mostly neutral, even if he's a glownigger. If people are calling for a SA3, at least the rivalry dynamic should be more pronounced and two different "stories" would be the best solution. In Sonic '06 (yes, I played that piece of shit) the additional Silver arc was pretty meh. Also his design looks fucking stupid.

You know, I see your point but I totally disagree that it sucked because it felt out of place. SA1, SA2, SU, S06 and a bunch of them usually totally change the game for the last boss, some more than others and after a bunch of Super Sonic giant bosses, the change felt nice and refreshing for me.

Thee thing I like about Shadow in regards to Sage and Eggman is that Shadow could actually be a friend to Sage and relate to her feelings about being a tool or not. But I agree that execution for the Father-Daughter relationship was not great.

Fuck SA3, Frontiers 2 is where it's at for me now.

I am not a fan of sonic prime tbh, the writing is not good, and they had to nerf sonic by making him stupid like the 2010s games, he is also weirdly incompetent.
Its also kind of boring.
Edit: For some reason everyone seems to live in green hill, even knuckles, which is obviously completely wrong

The characters and worlds are aggresively one-dimensional. The world being fractured is no excuse to only give everything a "fraction" of personality.
Some of the people on the show are trying to pass it off as canon to the games (They can say the games are canon to the show, sure, but they straight up do not have the authority to dictate the canon of the games) but I'm not buying it until someone from actual Sega says so, and not even Iizuka has said so despite outright stating he wants to "unify" the continuities. The writers clearly only have a basic idea of the Sonic setting, because they think everyone lives in Green Hill, that Eggman has never used robots without animals inside (nevermind the fact that he straight-up hasn't done it since Adventure 2), and that Chaos Emeralds are just randomly hidden in rocks that formed long before the last time the Emeralds scattered (though that one's more of a minor nitpick). There's also the obsession with chili dogs (a nod to chili dogs once or twice per game/show is charming. Constant reference is unfunny and out-of-character), or the fact they've once again reduced Amy to a one-note character that isn't even the correct note. Has no thoughts but her obsession with Sonic? Nah, done that. Bargain-bin Sally? No, the fans already forced Flynn to knock that off... This time, she loves nature! No, like, that's the main crux of her personality now, not just a little character trait. I'm sure she does havw a fondness for nature but I don't remember her going off about trees and flowers and stuff in any of the games... I guess her boundless compassion, that literally gave a robot free will and helped Shadow unlock his real memories of Maria's last wish, isn't really special at all, because as we all know, female characters being "emotional" in any way is offensive and stereotyping, which is why making her obsessed with flowers out of nowhere is totally better.
Lastly, the flashback to the time Sonic first met Knuckles is just straight-up wrong, I won't even get into any inaccuracies besides the fact that Hidden Palace Zone is not even close to their first meeting, and they'd know this if they played the games - you literally see Knuckles right at the beginning of Sonic 3 before the opening stage even starts, and he appears to trigger traps and such multiple times throughout Sonic's story before you ever get to Hidden Palace Zone. Maybe you could throw them a bone and say that was the first time they were face to face for long enough to really talk, but the way it's framed still leads you to believe this is genuinely their first encounter.
Overall, I had to force myself through most of the show... Only partway into the pirate episodes did it finally become enjoyable to me, and "it gets good near the end" isn't really a good verdict.

Dude, I know! I was incredibly confused by some of the stuff they said in the show from the begining, sonic talking like they live in green hills, the animals in robots stuff, it really feels like they just read the wikipedia version of the sonic bible.

From what I've seen of Prime, it's alright. However, I do notice that pacing is a big issue with this series (among other things).

We've only seen the first half of the first season and they are giving us no time to let an idea have time to settle. So far, New Yoke City is the only "shatter space" that seems interesting and fleshed out while the others only serve to act as filler.

So, as someone who's kind of digging Prime (it's not high art, but if you're expecting that from Sonic the fucking Hedgehog, you've got bigger problems.), it's making me miss the heady days of old SATAM and the like, and making me think about finally getting around to digging into the comics. But everytime I look into where I should start, it's a massive autism vortex, which usually boils down to 'wherever you want, lol.'

Has this come up here, or can one of you recommend where I should dig into? I don't really care about retellings of X, or Boom or whatever, I just mean the Archie/IDW stuff, the stand alone. I know Penders is a fucking lolcow autist, but is his shit worth reading, or should I just pass him entirely?

Controversial opinion: early Ken Penders is fine. When all he's doing is writing generic, simple SatAM-esque cartoon stories, they're okay. Not the greatest things ever written, but fine. I assume a lot of these stories were written when he was still treating the Archie books as "a job." He has openly bragged about not being familiar with the Sonic franchise, about having a certain detachment from the source material, and that's where these stories fall. When Ken Penders is writing just to cash a paycheck, it's passable.

It's when he starts to care. When he starts to take ownership. When he starts to write bigger, more complex stories, and it kind of gets too big for him to keep track of all at once. That's when we got story arcs that he started but forgot to finish. And when he started getting protective of his narrative and refused to let other writers play in his sandbox. He spent a lot of time undoing other writers work just to preserve the sanctity of his own plans (which would then stall out and become forgotten).

Unfortunately, there's more of that then there are the simple stories. And more of Ken Penders looking selfish and egotistical. More of Ken Penders trying to command a kind of attention he didn't deserve or earn.

In short, I don't like Ken Penders, and I haven't liked Ken Penders for a long, long time. Now, IDW, you're going to have to ask someone else, never had the time to delve into it that much.

Prime has been pretty fun for what it is. As a dad I appreciate that it actually has an arc for the characters to go through instead of just being dumb lol.random humor with nothing going on with its characeters. I think I'm missing one or two episodes to end it but it's probably one of the better kids shit I've seen in some time. The shatterverse concept is interesting and lets them be as dumb and outlandish as they can without having to tie them down to stablished Sonic lore or shit.

I have also aprpeciated that Shadow, so far, has not been whored out and has retained some sort of mistery as to wtf is going on with him.

I'd say it is a very servicable and even good tv, particularly children tv. Maybe on par with the movie if not a bit more entertaining., not sure yet. The blue hedgehog had a pretty good year now that I think about it.

Regarding it being canon or not. It can't be canon in any way IMO because of Rouge. The lack of Omega is also a big issue if we have Shadow and Rouge so I'm going to say it is not canon to the games and it is its own shit.

I enjoyed the IDW comics, they have nice art, are written well enough, except for Shadow, and the stories are closer to what we would have seen on the 2000s games.
I found them pretty enjoyable, but the biggest problem they have is that the dialogue can be a bit too much, the writers seem to not follow the philosophy of less is more most of the time.

This was where things started to get REALLY weird for me.
