This is an outstanding read and I'm very appreciative of the work you've done here. I just wanted to chime in a bit:

Carnival Night, the first MJ team track you'll hear in the game. This song is, of course, heavily based on Michael Jackson's Jam (1991). Even using some samples from the song. It is unknown which of the MJ team members composed this track.
I have a theory - I think this might be the track that Jackson worked on himself.
From what I've gathered based on interviews, Jackson's vision for the Sonic 3 soundtrack was to produce tracks that contained extensive sampling and incorporated his past work. For example, I remember hearing something (I can't find the source, so you'll just have to trust me on this) across the lines of him wanting to incorporate one of his songs (can't remember which, it might've been "Black and White") into the soundtrack.
But as far as I'm concerned, the tracks of his team's that
did make it into the game don't adhere to this MO. They don't include too many samples or references to Jackson's prior songs. There are "Hey!"s and "Go!"s here and there in IceCap and Launch Base, but nothing like what we've heard Jackson had planned... except Carnival Night.
Carnival Night contains extensive sampling, including samples taken directly from "Jam", and shares chord structures with "Jam". It sounds very close to what we've heard Jackson envisioned. What's also important is how poor quality the samples are. They sound very compressed; their lack of fidelity lends credence to the claim that Jackson left the project because he was dissatisfied with how the Genesis replicated his music.
Then let's not forget
S4, E3 of GameTrailers' Pop Fiction, which is dedicated to the MJ/Sonic 3 conundrum. (I've timestamped the information that's relevant to this discussion.) An anonymous developer, who GameTrailers verified did in fact work on the project, stated that the tracks MJ team had finished were used in the game, and specifically names Carnival Night as having been composed in part by Jackson.
My theory is this: Jackson agreed to work on Sonic 3. He did some composing, and finished Carnival Night. When he heard how the music would sound on the Genesis hardware, he got upset and, coupled with the humiliation of the abuse allegations, decided to leave the project to the rest of his team.
Of course, this is all just a theory, I could be completely talking out of my ass for all I know. But I just wanted to put it out there!
