That song was never even a Super Sonic theme; the composer herself said it was for a bonus stage but it never ended up used. She wasn't sure what stage it would've been used for. Origins ended up using it for the Blue Sphere menu:
 
I weep for the Zoomers who will buy this and be unable to experience the original Ice Cap Zone music.

Interesting. I knew it wasn’t originally a Super theme (just that it would be good for Super Sonic), but I didn’t know what exactly it was supposed to be. It’s nice that they brought it back though.

I think Launch Base is just as much of a travesty as Ice Cap. While extremely dated by today's standards of video game OSTs, that "Go!" gives the song in Launch Base so much more personality.
 
Sonic 3 is fucking weird when it comes to music, so we have the original prototype versions then we have Sonic 3's tracks which were changed in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic 3 and Knuckles as a whole makes everything a lot more complicated as a whole to be honest.

And now we have origins going back to the original prototype soundtrack and they don't sound all that different, I don't believe that they made them worse or butchered them, the originals were already awful and they did the equivalent of polishing shit.

Here's Knuckles theme for example wishes fine but sounds more fitting in something like Sonic Spinball and doesn't compared to the two other version of Knuckles' theme.

On that note, we haven't heard Knuckles theme from my knowing but I'm hoping it will be the Sonic & Knuckles version which sounds a lot more tribal and fits the character more, also the one I'm more familiar with but that's beside the point.

I'm a bit rusty on this all and I don't know what's the deal with Sonic & Knuckles music don't know how much they changed other then just Knuckles' theme, I know the Sonic 3's version is very similar to Michael Jackson's song "Blood On The Dance Floor" so that's why it was changed.

Carnival Night Act 2.

Some of the notes are literally discordant in the Origins mix. Regardless of your opinion on the prototype tracks, it's a lot harder to listen to.

This one seems to be the worse example out of them all or maybe it's just hard to get all the differences from GameXplain comparison.

Either way, I will admit that Origin's Carnival Night Act 1 does have a weird shitty chiptune thing going on that the original prototype didn't have.

... huh. I would have never thought to combine the MJ drums'n'percussions with the proto/collection melody. That's a fucking good idea... in theory anyway.

It got me thinking about tinkering with Launch Base just to see how that would sound all fused together in this similar style.
