Seeing CrossWorlds get so much smug hype just to fall behind Mario Kart World is a hilarious and expected outcome.
Sonic fans will look for any excuse to not be embarrassed that they like Sonic. Just own it unabashedly instead of trying to justify it through the lens of it being better than Mario, Sonic is mainstream again now.

Sonic was always cool, unfortunately it's been infested by furries and troons.

I haven’t checked the numbers in probably a decade, but isn’t Sonic #6-ish in terms of franchises with the most R34? Pokemon is and has always been a distant first, so why isn’t it seen as the big furry IP?

Sonic was always cool,
Citation needed. Sonic had a bad adaptation to 3d since the 00s, and 06 scared Team Sonic to half death.

What a dubious distinction. Pokemon has furry rape built-in as part of the setting with the odd mention of Pokemon and humies marriage, if not outright rape. Sonic is a remnant from the 90s for good and bad.

I feel like the answer is obvious but would require writing an essay to articulate.
  • Pokemon is way bigger than Sonic, which means more weirdos but also more normies, which helps drown out the weirdos.
  • Sonic had a poor reputation for a long time and was treated like a laughingstock by journos and youtubers, which encouraged people to look closer into what the weirdos are doing to have more fuel to laugh at. Pokemon was considered good until relatively recently, so alogging Pokefags was considered pretty autistic in comparison. Even after Pokemon turned to shit, the most visible bad parts of the fandon are more like overly defensive Disney adults than the ones jerking it to furry porn.
  • Sonic had more dramatic stories, whether in the form of the shonen anime-like 3D games or the soap opera bullshit that was going on in the Archie comics for a while. It means there were fans making their own art and stories that were similarly melodramatic, and a lot of non-fans felt like Sonic shouldn't be like that, so again easier to make fun of. Everyone was always pretty on-board with Pokemon's children's adventure anime tone. Sometimes fanworks could get laughably edgy, but it was considered a few fans being dumb and not a pervasive issue with the fans or something the original works encouraged.
  • In general, Pokemon's popularity and good will it had meant that jokes about Pokemon were from and for fans, and so meant as light parody. Any attention to furries jerking off to Lucario or whatever is treated as similar to like finding some furries jerking off to Minnie Mouse. It's not considered indicative of Pokemon itself or its entire fanbase in any way. Sonic was often being made fun of by people who weren't fans and had surface level knowledge of the franchise, so the tone was much more of a bullying types of "let's all laugh at the weird Sonic fans and the dumb Sonic stuff that encourages them to act that way."

Who the fuck is keeping track of this and why?
Rule 34 aggregators. They're keeping track because, I mean, that's how their tagging system works.

From a quick look on one of the biggest websites, it looks like the top IPs (if my eyes didn't skip over anything) are
  1. Pokemon
  2. My Little Pony
  3. Genshin Impact
  4. Naruto
  5. League of Legends
  6. Sonic
  7. Marvel
  8. DC Comics
  9. Overwatch
  10. My Hero Academia

>animals have more rule 34 than humans
Unless the Pokemon ones are mostly of the human trainers, we have failed as a society

Sonic Rumble is finally slated for a global release next month.
You can battle Doctor Eggmun's diabolical machines in it.

You might notice something funny about how they animated Shadow here too. Stuck out to me from the thumbnail.

OOPS, MODS ARE ILLEGAL! Thanks Nintendo.
actually. i wass looking this up @NerdShamer you should hear this too.

sega is against cheaters and modders in crossworlds that involve changing game elements and modifying stats to gain unfair advantage, or digging into the game's code to unlock stuff early.

BUT, Sega does allow mods in this game! in fact, they are encouraging their fans to mod their games. as long as they are only and purely cosmetic.

in fact. i'm friends with several people that are part of the sonic fandom and i've seen them mod their own OCs and other characters from other games they like into crossworlds over other characters in the roster, and they hjaven't been banned. so mods are okay only if they are just cosmetic. much like how i've seen people do it with mortal kombat 1.

also.

The Minecraft festival was fun. seeing many minecraft fans play in lobbies. and the minecraft vehicle was funny and cool. i was able to get it done while on my steam deck while i was on vacation.

get this. the community is getting creative with the minecart. in some lobbies, i've seen them design it in the form of the minecraft slime, and another in the design of an amazon delivery box. lol

and of course we got minecraft in a sonic game. mojang released a sonic the hedgehog add-on into Minecraft 9 months ago.

plus. the joker festival is coming up, it starts around tomorrow and the 23rd. Joker will become available again. time to steal the show.

also. speaking of collabs, did you guys see that Player Unknown Battlegrounds is doing a collab with sonic? i wasn't really expecting that.

Oh so the "Sonic Racing Game" that "dethroned" the Mario Kart open world sloppa game really is going to be the generic racing game equivalent of Fortnite by scrapping the bottom of the barrel trying to collab with everything then?

sigh....
