Howard Drossin is a god. Sonic Spinball and Comix Zone have fantastic music at least partially thanks to him.Let me add one of my favorites onto the pile.

I can't really say that it's the hardest game that Sega ever made, but it's certainly one of the hardest ones in the series. But the difficulty felt fairly inconsistent.@NerdShamer i see online from sega fans saying that sonic 1 is one of the hardest games for the sega genesis
They kind of are, but at least that you weren't placed on an timer. But the ones in Mania and Sonic 3 were certainly the worst ones in the series, imo.the special stages can also be a pain in the ass.
Which was shit.it was an unlockable bonus stage in sonic adventure 2
Yeah, that's mainly because of that one segment towards the end of second level.but what i think one of the hardest stages is the labyrinth zone
But on the other hand, I've seen some more vitriol about the Water Temple from Ocarina of Time when it comes to this.gamers say it's one of the worst water levels ever.
Play the japanese version. The western version was made intentionally harder for... reasons.Hardest mega drive game HAS to be Dynamite Headdy
Can't even make it past that weird ass Baby Face boss and it's not even half way through the game!
Bridge Zone music is GOAT, regardless of whether or not it intentionally took from Together Again by Janet Jackson.its great that sega's mascot was born, but damn, sonic 1 can be challenging as hell if you're not fully familiar with it.
there was also a sonic 1 game released for the game gear and the sega master system.

I cannot speak for Dynamite Heddy, but SOR3 was made harder to encourage more rentals from movie/video game rental stores.... which makes sense considering Sega had its origins in the arcades and stuck to them far longer than Nintendo did.Play the japanese version. Streets of Rage 3 has the same problem in the west. They made the normal difficulty easy mode, hard mode is normal, etc...
same reason Ecco the Dolphin was made as balls-crushingly hard as it isI cannot speak for Dynamite Heddy, but SOR3 was made harder to encourage more rentals from movie/video game rental stores....
you're talking about blue sphere. aren't you? They kind of are, but at least that you weren't placed on an timer. But the ones in Mania and Sonic 3 were certainly the worst ones in the series, imo.
It's so dumb that the princess was Blaze. If they decide to remake a Sonic game, I want the '06 concept to have another chance. Day/night cycle, but rewrite the whole Princess Elise time travel debacle. Actually, make the princess a queen that is Queen Elizabeth.
Why? is not like the stores bought more than 5, maybe 10 copies each, or did SEGA get a cut of the rentals?I cannot speak for Dynamite Heddy, but SOR3 was made harder to encourage more rentals from movie/video game rental stores....
Video game companies were always doing business with rental stores. The most well known one was how ClayFighter 63 1/3 Sculpture Cut was ONLY a rental game at Blockbuster, which is why it goes for insane prices online. Why? is not like the stores bought more than 5, maybe 10 copies each, or did SEGA get a cut of the rentals?
According to eBay, prices for an actual copy of ClayFighter 63 1/3 Sculpture Cut range from $900 to over $150,000. It's impossible to sell something with a ridiculously high price expecting people to buy a certain company with that kind of moneyVideo game companies were always doing business with rental stores. Why not Silver?
Bob Odenkirk would've been a good Silver. Then again, Hayden Christiansen would've been a good Shadow, but no, Fowler wanted to appease the Reddit crowd with Keanu instead. Why not Silver?
HAHA, YOU GET IT? SILVERHAND
Late reply, but no one ever addressed this. Sega took down nearly every rerelease of the classic games when Origins was released. The only ones that stayed up were the SEGA AGES versions of Sonic 1 and 2 on Switch, and Sonic 2 on Switch Online.Since Xbox Live Marketplace is shutting down in a few months, I was hoping to buy a port of old Genesis Sonic games. Turns out they took them down, for whatever reason, same with Sonic CD(even tho the page is still up and you can download a demo + videos on the game like trailers. This means that this isn't about hosting costs?). You know what's still there? These awful Sonic 4 mobile games they tried masquerading as true Sonic 3 sequels back in the day. They even got Sonic Fighters there but the original two titles and CD are gone, for whatever reason.
If you’re on a PC, play Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic CD Restored. These are all mods of the mobile ports. Sonic 3 has the equally-great Sonic 3 A.I.R.If I wanted to play the original 3 titles, what would be the optimal way to do so today?
