Mainline Sonic games tend to have really polished graphics, catchy music and buttrock, but are heavily hampered by its gameplay.

Sonic Team is down the gutter.
The producers don't know a lot about producing. Takashi Iizuka's first produced game was Sonic Rivals for PSP. He even gave us Sonic Episode 4... Shun Nakamura's first produced game was Rhythm Thief. Forces was his second time producing.
The director, Morio Kishimoto, started working at Sonic Team doing the storybook Wii games as lead designer. Sonic Colors was his directorial debut. His main goal is to make simple games that could be played with a joystick and some buttons. Basically, thank him for Boost gameplay.
Even Jun Senoue and the rest of Crush 40 was nowhere to be seen in the soundtrack. Tomoya Ohtani was put as lead composer, which isn't his strong point. Ohtani is great at doing remixes and a couple songs at a time, but giving him (any composer, really) too many songs to compose at once greatly reduces the quality.

Sonic Forces?
More like Sonic Forces Another Mediocre Game Down Your Throats.

To be fair, anyone above the age of 13 that still thinks Sonic was ever anything above "mediocre" really needs to be sent to the loony ben.
At least the levels in Colors and Generations were visually varied, and actually had multiples branches in the levels themselves. This just seems like they decided to flanderised the boost gameplay, while taking the "hold right/up" joke/critique as a serious suggestion. It doesn't even look nice, something even Heroes and 2006 got right (to an extent, at least).

I'm playing it now. From the first few hours I actually don't hate it. Its far from perfect but there are things I like, the 3 gameplay styles aren't terrible and they avoid the bullshit that I really hated about some of the previous 3D Sonics like the hub worlds, unrelated gameplay like fishing, etc. Level design isn't great but not terrible either. The narrarative and some of the soundtrack is back to the "so-stupid-its-entertaining" kind of thing like in SA2, which I don't mind once in a while. Mania is definetly the better game by a lot but I actually don't regret this. Its probably like a 6.5 7 or so out of 10 to me. Definetly a step up from Lost World, that game was just sort of lame and tiring. Didn't play Boom.

they were just looking for views, with that dumb statement.
They have multiple sonic games rated 8 or 9 on their own website.
If they were really serious, that just shows how dumb they are.

I can see where he's coming from, but IMO nostalgia isn't what's ruining games. What's ruining games is developers using nostalgia incorrectly. That's why Sonic Forces fails IMO. Not only did they waste nostalgia( you never fight Chaos or Shadow, and Metal Sonic is a fucking quick time event) it's also just not fun. The reason Sonic Mania works is because it takes nostalgic locations and does something with them. The reason the N Sane Trilogy works is not because they abused nostalgia but instead because they took the originals and made them look and sound better(for the most part). Neither of these games are perfect, but they used nostalgia correctly. They breathed new life into old game series and made an entirely different experience. Sonic Forces doesn't do that, it takes old characters and environments and does nothing new at all with. It just makes them worse.

Off-topic but I wasn't too big on N. Sane, the pill-shaped boxes broke the game in my opinion.

Considering the Crash reboot was good and every Mario game to date has sold/been received well he is retarded. Same for Pokemans.

So I'm on the cusp of 100% with this game. It's perfectly adequate. It didn't blow my mind like Unleashed did when I first saw really unique, fun 3D Sonic gameplay, and it didn't scratch that nostalgia itch like Generations and Mania. However it does appeal to me in the same way the super edgy early 00's Sonic games did with it's super srs anime story and "Badass (tm)" theme songs. If this is the worst Sonic Team can do moving forward, I'm okay with that.

All that said it is definitely not worth 40$ to anyone who isn't a super fan of the series.

Regardless of how you feel about the game itself, I think we can probably agree this is a pretty great final boss theme

I know this is late af, but I think this could be useful once a Sonic Forces salt makes an appearance.

In a nutshell: This dude says Sonic Forces is bad just as any other modern sonic game, bad/bland gameplay, slow framefrate, and complaining about the poor execution of the OC characters in this game. However all of this took place when sonic forces was a demo. (Keep that in mind.)

When this video originally came out, I remember seeing the top comment having ~600+ likes that simply said “SONIC FORCES IS A DEMO, OF COURSE ITS NOT GOING TO BE GREAT YOU FUCKING IDIOTS.” Or something along those lines. And to add the cherry on top of that highly IQ’d individual, he had a sonic OC profile picture on his YouTube account.
I’ll let that sink in for you.
As I scrolled down through the comments, it was pretty much an absolute flame war with sonicfags saying this isn’t true or isn’t fair since it’s a demo so it isn’t fully complete. One of them even said they lost all respect for this YouTube channel for that one video. On the other hand, people were defending this dude’s claims and opinions since the game was pretty far in development and this is what they had to show off for what it is going to be.
Since then, The original video has been deleted and the one you see was a reupload with much less salty comments than the original.
