I have had something similar once as a banner before as well. It left me absolutely perplexed, at least what I could stand sitting through. The video was of horrendous quality and had sub-1K views, which is less views than what you would get from just posting it on some trash subreddit for free.

At a certain point you have to wonder how deep the irony hole goes. But as of now I think the levels of irony in these barely make a dent in the dirt; this seems a lot like a genuine lack of self awareness.

They did a lot more than that, though the BoB thing is where they jumped the shark and afterwards became shitheads. I stopped paying attention to Eve shortly after that and don't even know what a "super-dreadnaught" is, so I can't comment on your other thing. Eve's goons were like most other off-site communities- full of people who never posted on SA anymore whp said nigger and retard all the time (probably no longer acceptable, current Goonswarm bigwig The Mittani is a total cuck.) Old school Goonswarm leadership was full of D&D members, but from back when there were differing opinions allowed- you had a lot of libertarian members, left-leaning people (including former No. 2 Goon and husband to fistgrrl, elpintogrande,) and statistically speaking I am sure you could find at least one person from the right too.

Saying there were thousands of j4g people is a gross overestimation, too. There might have been two or three hundred, max, and most of them either got banned on the first post or posted legitimately, making them real goons. For comparison, back then Eve's userbase might have been around 100k people, perhaps 20k higher or lower at any given time. Implying that such a large percentage as that were jumping onto SA to get Goonswarm accounts is simply not historically accurate. Though, on the other hand, its actually the thing that drove me over the line into giving Lowtax my filthy lucre, despite having read the forums for years as a non-member. And when I got banned almost a decade later, no longer needing an account in order to play a game with goons, I decided not to re-register.
 
Ashlii Kyanka is genuinely insane, she tweets garbage like this almost every day now. It's hilarious to see how paranoid and out of control of her emotions she is for somebody who's in her like mid 30's or something.

I was meandering around the web a few days ago and came across this dinosaur of a web page still hosted on fucking Tripod called the "SA Forum FAQ" (Archive). I don't know when this page was written, but it appears as far back as August 2001 on the Wayback Machine and the site capture taken back then pretty much looks the same as the page that's still online today. If this page was published in August 2001 that would mean Something Awful was less than two years old when it was written.

It's kind of strange to read. It doesn't even feel like it's talking about the same website this thread is about.

TCC hasn't. You can go weeks without checking TCC and still find little content when you return. The days of it being a fast-paced sub are well and truly gone.
 
One of my favorite TCC stories is the goon that baked himself to death in his car because he passed out from drugs and then his wife (or girlfriend, I think it was wife though) posting that he passed away and with barely a beat missing asking about the pills the guy left behind and if she could take them and what they are. Junkies. I swear to god.

Mine was the dude's that got those Russian? Experimental psychotropics or whatever and went bugfuck crazy. Then the other junkies were like "nah this is safe" and used even more.
